Brad Pitt! There, now I have your full attention. You saw him in Washington, DC, recently, meeting with Nancy Pelosi, Steven Chu and even The Big O. The real Big O – our president. (Some gene experts say that Brad is a distant cousin to the commander in chief.) The movie star was in the capital to work further on financing the New Orleans Housing Project.

So, now the inevitable rumors arrive that the very serious Mr. Pitt is pondering public office. A source says, “Angelina (well, you knew she’d get in!) feels Brad would make a great politician. He would also compliment Angelina’s own efforts on behalf of UNICEF.”

I’d say he’s doing enough, helping populate and adopt the world.

More likely he will continue his public service, and in a similar manner to George Clooney – also often urged to run for office. Brad will not place his past life in the hands of the ravening investigative media.

Mr. Pitt does have one political type who is encouraging him to change career: actor/producer William Carter. He worked in “Running With Scissors,” produced by Brad’s production company, and also served as a member of Sen. John Warner’s staff, post Elizabeth Taylor. You know – she is the woman who helped secure Warner’s Senate seat, back in 1978.

So few people are willing to recognize the efforts of celebrities. It doesn’t matter if they are actors or athletes or whatever, the focus is often on their lifestyle or the ridiculous money they earn, not on how they spend it. Brad Pitt is one of many celebs who chooses to endeavor philanthropic pursuits regularly and people still criticize him relentlessly. I personally think it noble that he or anyone else in a similar position take the time, exert the effort, spend the money to help people who are less fortunate. I’m not a big Brad fan, there are other actors who’s films I enjoy far more than his. But that doesn’t matter, he is a good actor and he has been in good films, and that too doesn’t matter, what matters is he shows concern for people and things that need to be advocated for, and to me that’s pretty righteous.

My thoughts on the Make it Right project :–

There is good that come out of these. 1st — People who were displaced will have a home. 2nd — there will be jobs created during construction.

Finally, once this neighborhood is put back together, this can be a POTENTIAL tourist stop for tourists, visiting the area planned with the world’s renowned architects. We all know tourists like to visit UNESCO world heritage sites. The same reasoning can apply here. Travel company can set up WALKING tours. Where can you find a place with all those houses, planned by world renowned architectects ALL IN ONE LOCATION ? And to see how eco-green features are applied, to learn about the history of pre and post Katrina. It could be very educational too.

With tourist bus bringing people to the neighborhood, there will be shops springing up to cater to the tourist, gift shops, restaurants, ice cream store, coffee shop, hotels, etc. Gift shops can sell post Katrina postcards, different houses blueprints, tote bags, MIR T shirts. Heck, they can even bottle those dirt or muds from the site and sell them. It’s all good for the local ECONOMY.

Tourism is big business !!!

Brad’s ideas are BRILLIANT !!! This is the man who has the foresights, the connection, the drive , and the heart. He has all my respect.

We should be greatful that Brad is shepherding this project with his precious TIME.

Brad Pitt’s Secret Meeting with Obama!

I was so busy with other stuff that missed Brad Pitt at The White House!
A few days ago, President Barack Obama welcomed Brad Pitt into The White House and met with him in a closed meeting to get his views about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

It’s so logical to discuss this with Brad Pitt because he’s been involved in helping out in New Orleans since 2007, when he founded ‘Make It Right’.
He also talked about and promoted his cheap and ‘green’ housing plans which are being set up the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans.

Brad also met with the cabinet members and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and discussed the rebuilding effort down in New Orleans and how they can expand this idea of affordability and sustainability.

Kudos Brad! At least some celebrities are trying hard to help their fellow citizens.

I appreciate and admire Brad’s activist work as he is trying to help people in the US. I feel sometimes activists feel they have to travel around the world to help people and forget about poor people in our own country. Thanks Brad!!!

Film commitments brought A-listers Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie to NYC - but the working moms’ most important project in Manhattan is coordinating a playdate between their toddlers!

“Katie loves entertaining and spoke to Angelina about having an at-home tea party with cupcakes for the girls,” a friend of Katie’s tells OK!. “It’s something she has wanted to do for ages,” adds another source close to the actress. “Because of security reasons, Katie can’t have just any child over to her home. Yet another reason why Brad and Angie don’t feel the need to rush over and speak to the E morons on the RC.

I also took a look at the MIR tax returns, as well as the All Tribes Foundation returns. Their overseas work is handled differently - I can’t even imagine the amount of money that has gone into the Millenium Village and the conservancy in Cambodia. Unless the money is handled through a U.S. organization then there is no tax deduction for foreign donations - though there are some exceptions.

On the topic of whether one needs to be a great speaker in order to be a great ploitician, the answer is NO. I have known a number of politicians who were terrible speakers and yet were incredible legislators and did wonderfully effective work for their constituencies. Lack of great public speaking skills doesn’t keep you from being a leader in congress either. I think Pitt has made it clear he was not interested in running for office. Just like he has made it clear that, while he loves producing, he has no desire to direct.
