Get with the times.

A) Every time a person of mixed race, specifically black and white, people want to say NO THEY ARE MIXED NOT BLACK. But what is so funny no one says crap to Salma Hayek (1/2 Lebanese) or Kate Beckinsale (1/4 Burmese) , or Johnny Depp (1/2 cherokee) that they are. So Let her be what the hell she claims to be.

B) I think this list is ridiculous, sexiest black?…really? most these women could top any list period.

She is not even fully black so she should not have that title.They should call her sexiest mixed woman or something. I thinki it sends out a bad message to always pick a mixed woman as the sexiest black woman. There are just as many beautiful dark skinned women as well.

Halle is half white, half black……I do not think that qualifies her for sexiest black person. Why is it that someone who is half black and half white is black…….why not caucasian. People from the Middle East, India are considered white.

Hm…don’t think so. Like I said she was doing damage control at the Fertility Clinic w/ her boo over a month or so ago. Don’t think she’d be showing.

Oh and this is a stupid award. They shouldn’t have a category just for someone’s skin color, they should treat women all equally, regardless. If they had Sexiest White Woman everyone would be calling that racist.

I FIND IT ODD THAT HALE AND ALICIA ARE BIRACIAL AND THEY ARE CONSIDERED BLACK WOMEN?

She is NOT black.

Here are the 3 main “emotional” reasons for saying so:
1) She “looks” black. So do some Arabs, Eastern Indians, and people of other non-black races. Are they black too?

2) She would have been segregated against YEARS ago. So would have other races. Are they also black? The fact that biracial people are beginning to acknowledge ALL of their heritage is representative of that segregation changing. Why hinder it and engage in racial isolation with an incorrect “one race” label?

3)One drop rule. The ODR is outdated, racist and scientifically flawed. It was ruled unconstitutional (and good riddance) in 1967. It gave whites the right to disown their own children. Who in the heck supports this and labels themselves based on what a racist tells them?

“Treatment” does not constitute claim to a race. Neither does “appearance” alone. And “looks” aren’t the only genetic material races pass on. Biracial people can look everything from black to white. They are still all biracial. Halle Berry IS biraical. Biraical people have a unique cultural and familial experience. Blacks cannot experience being biracial. The two are NOT synonymous. Yes, some blacks have white ancestry, but some whites have black ancestry. Are they black? Being the DIRECT offspring of a white person is TOTALLY different. Biracial people are just that - two(bi) races (racial). Any other label is advocacy for internal segregation. Quit thinking with pitiful emotional attachment and tell is like it is. I don’t care how she “identifies” that does not change what she is. Halle Berry is NOT representative of the culture or unique physical beauty that makes the African race.

Yes. I second that letsbreal. The media always touts biracial blacks as more beautiful that dark-skinned full African Americans. Regardless of whether Halle considers herself black or not, the fact is White America almost ALWAYS favors mixed race or mixed looking blacks over authentic black looks. The reason why some dark-skinned black actresses might not be as beautiful is because THERE’S LESS OF THEM to begin with. Naturally since the Entertainment industry favors more light skinned black women than dark skinned ones there’s more variety of the former the thus more truly beautiful ones. In the fashion world however (which is also racist) there’s more gorgeous dark skinned black women who could top Halle any day (Jessica White, Lauren Bassa, Yasmin Warsame etc.)

i hear people sayin she looks interracial…FYI THERE ARE LIGHT SKINNED BLACK GIRLS..people think being black is being darkskinned..i am lighter than her, long hair grwey eyes and i am no whereeeeeee mixed 100% black…dont get mad dta halle defines herself as a black woman…get over it..it doesnt matter wat the media or other people think she already identified herself.lol

@Shar: I agree with this aslo. The bi-racial women dont consider them selves black anyway , but bi-racial. so give them their own bi-racial catergory, and let the beautiful black women like Gabriell Union, Jada pinkett smith, keri washington,meagon good,sanaa lathan,lela rochon,nia long etc. be considered.

I see now how things change in the reverse order.Halle Berry considers herself bi-racial what’s wrong with that? This isn’t 1850,1900,1940,or even 1960’s anymore by alongshot! Times are different so is our culture in America.The only people that seem to have a problem when people call themselves bi-racial is black people why? Yes in years past white people would’ve said that if u aint 100per cent white u aint white.I’m hispanic and for almost 100years peopel have been trying to classify us as a “race” when we are not we are multi-racial we associate with nationalities more than “race”.Ironically Halle Berry looks like many Latina’s and shouldn’t be hated on because she considers herself bi-racial,so is she supposed to ignore the fact her mother’s white? It’s a fact so why do so many African Americans get angry when she claims her bi-racial heritage? Just dnt get it why should she say I’m black and that’s it? Yes her mom told her you are what you look like/consider yourself to be so in that same tone she should say I’m latina because I look like one.I’m half Puerto Rican half Mexican but I look like a typical whiteboy.People have always assumed I was white all my life (I’m 36 yrs old) so on the same vein I shold say ‘yea I’m white’ cause I look white? Hell no I kno my lineage is rich and multi-racial so I respond I’m American with Puerto Rican and Mexican heritage proud to the core! Be proud of your heritage NOT ashamed!
