Angelina Jolie Scales Walls
Angelina Jolie hangs from the side of a building as she scales its walls while filming a scene her latest spy flick, Salt, in uptown Manhattan on Thursday (March 12) in New York City.
Earlier in the day, Angie’s stunt double was spotted shooting the same scenes.
Directed by Phillip Noyce, Salt is expected to hit theaters in 2010.

Hey PT, when I heard the news today about Roger and Mirka I was so excited :). I think they are going to make great parents. Congrats to them.
The image reminds me of the embassy scene in,’The Bourne Identity” when Jason hangs off a decrepit fire escape to avoid capture by embassy marines. I hope this movie has that kind of craft. I love the Bourne movies and I hope the character of Edwina Salt displays the same sort of professional craftiness, resourcefulness and daring (she can’t be the same kind of fighter though and expect it to be believable). I am neutral about the director but I think the casting is stellar, so I have my fingers crossed.

She complimented him on the “Eight is enough” type shoot he had done with Brad, Angie and all six kids, and then asked the photographer how did he manage to get Jennifer Aniston to play Alice. Actually…quite the opposite happened. This week’s notOK declares X a great gal for wishing ALL OF HER EXES well in their new relationships. They claim she called VV and congratulated him on his engagement. Then they pointed out that Brad’s happier than a pig in slop without her…and that PMBP had moved on to Cam Diaz and the two of them looked very happy together. Not once did they play the “Pity poor Jen” card. That doesn’t bode well for X. Next week’s covers will all have her getting dumped again and I’m sure at least 1 of them - prolly US or Star - will do the “What’s wrong with this ho that she can’t keep a man” angle….

They are currently taking over the little town I am from in Northern NY and using my stepdad’s family’s land to shoot some scenes. They are using my parent’s back field to do the location shoots of where the Orphanage will be. And they will be filming some snowmobile chase scenes, since that area is pretty much the last area in the state that still has actual snow. That little town isn’t equipt to handle so many cast and crew people (129) They have booked up the whole of the largest hotel there and they’ve been eating all their meals in the town firehall. My parents are just so excited about the whole thing. I am too, but bummed I live 2 hours away and can’t be there to peer out the window constantly *laugh*

Well…the gist of the Star story is the incident with the nanny happened “a SEVERAL days after the Oscars”…at their Los Feliz house. The Oscars were on Feb. 22. I think we can all agree here that “several” is more than 2, but less than 5, right? Therefore…My 7 words or less? “THEY. WERE. IN. NEW. YORK. CITY. ON. FEBRUARY. 24TH!” They took the kids to The Little Mermaid on Feb 25th. Angie was spotted at the Waldorf Astoria on Feb 24. The new notOK! mag says Brad and Angie had dinner at one of the the Waldorf rEstraurants the evening of Feb 24. Ergo…they couldn’t have been at the Los Feliz house where the incident supposedly took place. (Besides…what you read online is essentially the whole story. Put in a bunch of large size pictures of Brad and Angie with the kids and you’ve got a 3 page story with about 250-300 words of text…if that much…)

First People mag does not write neg stories except if they a reliable source telling them it is true.

To Sandy - I have not seen the story but it is weird that Star would write that Brad left a hotel and got on his motorcycle and went for a long ride in NYC. Have not seen or read of Brad riding his motorcycle in NYC in a long long time. If LA paps can take pics of Brad on a motorcycle and NYC paps have a much easier time.

Barefoot with a bloody knee and a blonde wig, the Tomb Raider star got into action mode as camera crew filmed her hanging onto the building in the middle of a chase scene.

Connick, an Emmy-winning actor and Grammy-winning musician, is being honored for his hurricane recovery work, which includes testifying before Congress and helping to launch the Musicians Village project.
Also receiving a degree for Hurricane Katrina-related work will be William McDonough, an architect, designer and partner in actor Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation.
Françoise Barré-Sinoussi will be given a degree for her work with Dr. Luc Montagnier that resulted in the isolation of what has come to be known as the human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV. They won last year’s Nobel Prize for medicine, along with Harald zur Hausen, who was given the prize for discovering that the human papilloma virus causes cervical cancer.
Another honorary degree will go to Jessie Gruman, founder, president and executive director of the Center for the Advancement of Health.
The ceremony will start at 9 a.m. in the Superdome.
The principal speaker, already announced, will be Ellen DeGeneres, the New Orleans native who has won 12 Emmys as the host of the television talk show bearing her name.
DeGeneres, whose mother used to work at Newcomb College, will be given the Tulane University President’s Medal.

Their roles in making movies a magical experience is critical, so much so that sometimes their creations go on to set social trends. Take, for instance, the film “Troy,” with Brad Pitt. The season after the film opened, Grecian dress became all the rage.
This season’s FIDM exhibition, which is free to the public, features a lineup that mirrors this year’s Oscar ballot, with a couple of theatrical blunders thrown in for good measure. After all, clothes may be big factors in a film’s success, but they can’t make actors act any better or film writers, directors or crews think or work any harder.
The museum gallery is sure to impress any fashionista who happens to see the show. We aren’t saying that standing in front of Angelina Jolie’s costume from “The Changeling” is going to change your world, but it’s pretty impressive nonetheless.
To stand an arm’s length from these works of art is to see all the detail that one misses on screen and just how much work a designer puts into creating images for the cameras. Costume designers must think of what a certain color or print would look like on film. They must consider what it is a character does for a living, according to the story line, and devise clothing that fits the day-to-day life of that character. They must know what the character would wear, how they would wear it and why.

Al Norton: You’ve worked with Clint Eastwood twice now (Million Dollar Baby and Changeling); does he live up to the hype?
Riki Lindhome: He does. He does. He kind of ruined everything for me because Million Dollar Baby was my first movie and I thought, “oh, this is what all the movies I do will be like.” He does one take – sometimes two but mostly just one – so you have to get it right the first time. He’s very easy and calm, the whole set is very peaceful and quiet, he doesn’t say action or cut, you just sort of flow into it. It’s all sort of pleasant and quick. There is something about him that is so zen and yet so powerful and you feel like you were meant to be there, playing that role. He makes you feel really safe because he trusts everyone to do their jobs.
Al Norton: Along with working with Clint Eastwood as a director you’ve gotten to act opposite Hilary Swank and Angelina Jolie…
Riki Lindhome: When I was working on those movies I literally couldn’t believe it was my life. I would drive to work thinking, “this is crazy, this can’t be my life” (laughing).
Al Norton: Were there things you took from each of their individual approaches to acting you tried to take and make your own?
Riki Lindhome: That’s a hard question. I feel like I took more from watching their final performances than working one-on-one with them. What they had in common is that they are very grounded and very honest; you can see in their performances that they are so rooted and there with you, so alive and yet so simple at the same time. I found that fascinating. I remember thinking, “I’d love to be able to do that.” One day I’d like to be able to have that level of emotional intensity and groundedness all at once.
Al Norton: Angelina Jolie has a pretty high level of celebrity; did that make it hard to not think of her as Angelina Jolie as opposed to the part she was playing?
Riki Lindhome: It was, actually. The first day was kind of surreal and then it got easier. She’s amazing but it was harder for me to get past Clint Eastwood being Clint Eastwood. It was more crazy that he was standing their directing us than it was that I was standing opposite Angelina Jolie.
When we were on set it was like working with any other actor; she was in costume and was not glamorous at all in the movie. She was quiet and ready to work just like everyone else. She didn’t have a million assistants or people surrounding her, she didn’t have any of that clutter around her. She just walked up to me and said, “Hi, I’m Angie”, and we started working. I was intimidated but she made it very easy to get over.

Galveston doesn’t have the star power of New Orleans, which attracted tremendous celebrity support after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. There, Brad Pitt set up a foundation to build low-income housing and Spike Lee made a documentary. A fund set up by former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton raised about $130 million for Katrina victims.
But the area’s homegrown celebrities have not been as prolific with charity concerts or raising money for the island that serves as Houston’s backyard. Bush and Clinton set up a similar fund after Ike, but it raised only about $2.5 million.
Yet people who live on an island one hurricane season after another are made of hearty stuff. Many residents, business owners and community leaders believe the city will come back.
“If you live here, you love it. Everybody I know wants to bring it back and expect for it to come back. I get real upset when I hear people bad-mouth Galveston because you have to give us a chance,” said Charlene Grant, who had 18 inches of water in her home. Her neighborhood, like many in Galveston, hums with the sounds of reconstruction from electric saws and generators.

The Time Traveler’s Wife Will Finally See Release in August
Robert Schwentke’s big screen adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife has been sitting on the shelf for over a year. To give you an idea of how long that has been, The Time Traveler’s Wife went into post production before the non-canceled television series Journeyman even premiered. I mention Journeyman because many people accused the show of borrowing conceptual elements from the Audrey Niffenegger novel. The film is a romantic drama about a Chicago librarian (Eric Bana) with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage. Rachel McAdams and Ron Livingston co-star.

Broken Social Scene Play Wedding Singers in Time Traveler’s Wife

The constantly lineup-shifting collective of Broken Social Scene are clearly a romantic bunch, but you probably still wouldn’t peg them as wedding singers. This is not so (sort of), as the band makes a turn as matrimonial crooners in the still unreleased The Time Traveler’s Wife, about the relationship between a Chicago librarian who involuntarily time travels, and his wife.
Based on a novel by Audrey Niffenegger, the film stars Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams as the librarian and his wife. Because of unfavorable responses at early test-screenings (complaints about the convoluted nature of the plot, complicated by the concept of time travel), the film which was supposed to be released last year still remains in post-development limbo, though the film has apparently seen another edit recently. Four members of Broken Social Scene (including Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, and Justin Peroff) appear in the film playing an unidentified BSS song before transitioning into Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” which certainly matches the tone of the book.

$191.3MIL…it was $189.6Mil after last weekend, so this seems a bit odd unless it’s just Mondays or Monday/ Tuesday’s earnings. Last week it did almost $8MIL from Mon-Thu and $7.8MIL on the weekend. Doing a mere $1.7MIL over 4 days would be a huge drop. Movies usually drop between 30-50% each week, not 75-85%.
I agree with the post regarding Jennifer’s fans wanting she and Brad together again. They scream on one hand cheating yet they want her back with him. They are losers. They know what catch he is. Not even a month after “Sin City” star Michael Clarke Duncan told us he hadn’t heard a peep about “Sin City 2″, the plot thickens. Now, Rosario Dawson, the straight-talking star who once strapped herself into black leather to play the role of gang gal Gail says that she’s leaving room open on her 2009 calendar for the long-awaited sequel.
“Yeah, I talked to Robert [Rodriguez] and Frank [Miller],” she said of a recent conversation with the director and writer who joined forces with Quentin Tarantino for the hit 2005 film. “They actually just finished the script for ‘Sin City 2’ a few months ago.”
Dawson’s comments echo the statements made by Mickey Rourke, Jaime King and others that they’re be kept apprised of the latest script developments. Meanwhile, additional ensemble possibilities like Duncan, Alexis Bledel and Angelina Jolie told us when we last spoke with them that they haven’t heard a peep.
By all accounts, “Sin City 2” will be comprised of various tales from Miller’s groundbreaking graphic novel series. Although it will focus mainly on “A Dame to Kill For,” Miller’s deliriously disjointed narrative could conceivably bring any character back from the dead. The writer/director has indicated in the past that such deceased characters as Dwight (Clive Owen), Shellie (Brittany Murphy), Nancy (Jessica Alba), Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan) and Rosario’s Gail could all return for the sequel.
“Hopefully that will happen,” Rosario Dawson explained. “There’s talks about it shooting sometime this year.”

Whether playing tomb-raiding Lara Croft or Wanted’s tough assassin Fox, Angelina Jolie is not one to shy away from doing her own stunts. And this week the mum-of-six was back in the thick of the action, scaling the side of a New York building for her latest role in Salt.
Sporting a blonde wig and a grazed knee – thought to be makeup – the Hollywood beauty could be seen hanging from the side of a building in an exciting scene from the upcoming thriller.
Angelina’s aerial antics were not the first stunts she has performed for the film. Earlier in the week she was dodging through traffic on the streets of Washington for her role as a CIA operative fighting to clear her name after she’s accused of being a Russian agent.

The ways of the world are truly strange. You kill a robber and a murderer and you end up being labelled a coward. That’s the fate that dogged Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), a young man who joined the gang of famed bandit, Jesse James (Brad Pitt) and ended up killing him, hoping to end a career in crime. But Ford didn’t realise that he wasn’t the only one who hero worshipped the legend of Missouri. Despite his sundry heists and his infamous crime list which included seventeen murders, Jesse James, the great train robber of the 1880’s, was essentially a Robin Hood who loomed larger than life for the commonplace and non-heroic citizens of the wild West.
The film is essentially a biopic of the bandit with a focus on his relationship with his assassin, Ford, who first met him as a star-struck admirer, trying to enlist the similarities between him and his hero. You have blue eyes, I have blue eyes too, he exults, and joins the James gang in its last great heist: the Blue Cut Train Robbery, spearheaded by Jesse and his elder brother, Frank (Sam Shepard). But, it doesn’t take long for the young Ford to realise it takes more than a pair of blue eyes to make a balsy hero who could kill without compunction and yet double up as a devoted husband and father and a disciplined celebrity. In a pointed query, Jesse asks his devotee: You want to be like me or you want to be ME? Ford, bogged down by his inadequacies, gradually finds his adulation changing to envy and in a dimly lit parlour, when Jesse has given up his life of crime, he seeks out his fifteen minutes of fame.
It’s a long, meandering film which keeps you engrossed with its hard-hitting performances and its intricate eye for detail. While Brad Pitt brings to life the mythical figure, complete, with his majesty and meanness, Casey Affleck is both edgy and unpredictable. But in the final count, it is Roger Deakins breathtaking cinematography which leaves you spellbound with its compelling frames of the expansive planes of the untamed West.
