Slumdog Millionaire beauty Freida Pinto has been invited to a screen test for the next Bond movie, reports UK’s The Sun.
One of Hollywood’s hottest properties, the 24-year-old Mumbai model could become the new Bond girl.
Freida was first spotted by producers during the casting for Quantum of Solace but has most recently been swept up in Slumdog mania — eight Oscars, seven Baftas and four Golden Globes!
A source said: “She was too young at the time to have a part as a love interest for a secret agent. But she has blossomed into an incredibly stunning young woman and would look perfect on Daniel Craig’s arm. [Slumdog director] Danny Boyle is favorite to take the helm of the next movie, which would increase Freida’s chances of a starring role.”

I have nothing against Pinto being in Bond 23. I thought she came off as reasonably sexy in Slumdog. Besides, I’m sure she will be only one of many girls in Bond 23 if what has been said about it is true. Sounds to me like they want to have alot more girls, alot more sex in 23. And one or two Bond girls always end up getting knocked off anyway.
I don’t think she would be suitable for the role. The only flick we know her from is slumdog and that was a little feel good movie with a predictable ending and a senseless bollywood dance to conclude the movie… besides she was lousy in the movie, not a good actress. As for her exoticism… hardly the case. She is just “exotic” enough to fit perfectly well into western beauty standards. That’s how exotic she is. Interesting how colorism is applied not just to women of African American descent.

I like Freida, but I because I’ve only seen her in Slumdog, I can’t imagine her as a Bond Girl. At least not as the type of Bond Girl with a bit of an ‘edge’, and a slight dangerous personality. She seems too much like the ‘nice girl next door’, and in that, she resembles Jen. But if they are looking for the type of ‘nice’ girl that Gemma played in QoA, it might work (and I liked Gemma in that role, although I think she could have played a more sexy and devious character, too).
As to her age, she looks a lot younger, and I thought she was only 18, so maybe that went against her in the QoS casting.
I don’t find any special features about her. When I was in Dubai I have seen so many Hindi films dubbed in English. Her beauty is just plain compared to the famous Bollywood stars like Rekah, Sredevi, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, etc.

They ‘ve had minority women as Bond girls in the past, but only two: Michelle Yeoh (chinese) in Tomorrow Never Dies. Halle Berry (African American) in Die Another Day. I think it would be great to have a woman from Indian play the next Bond girl. Every girl can be a Bond girl I think.
Frieda is a very pretty girl but I think Daniel Craig is a bit too old for her. I love him but he looks as though he could be more her father. It would just seem a little creepy of Bond going after someone that young. Hopefully, they will have a good story first before casting an actress just because she is “hot”. Ursuala Andress had never acted before she came out of the sea in her bikini in “Dr. No” (the first Bond film for those who might not know). Famke Jenssen was a model before “Goldeneye” and if I remember correctly she had never acted before.

I have to agree with you. Bond movies have traditionally always used pretty much unheard of actresses for the Bond women, and the last two films were really no exception. No way would they have a blockbuster actress like Jolie as a Bond girl, they would upstage Daniel as the lead. It won’t ever happen.

It depends if producers will do decision about continuation for Qos and I think it possibly will happen in next months (in summer as Daniel will meet Babs and Michael). Not being ageist in any way, but I think casters should watch out that Dan doesn’t look ridiculous with girls on his arm who are half his age. Roger Moore said in an interview once that he was starting to feel silly acting with Bond girls half his age - ok, I think he was in his 50s then, but often, younger girls don’t make the man look younger, they make him look older because the age difference is too obvious. I’d love to see him with a 30 or even 40 something actress, somebody like Monica Bellucci, perhaps.
i think we should all just take a deep breath here. the write up says that freida was invited to screen test for a part in the next bond film. it’s a far cry from being offered the job. if any of you have seen what happens in screen tests you’ll know what i’m saying. in the first place, freida is more than likely only one of many women being looked at. she probably has a “look” that one of the casting agents likes. so he/she invited freida to test. that’s all!! before the final decision is made daniel craig and the other decision makers will be have seen a lot of screen tests from many other women.
I don’t see the big deal about her…she was in slumdog for like 15 minutes and she looks like any other indian girl … they’d be better off casting me :)
