Zac has never claimed to be in the same league as Depp and Dicaprio, he looks up to them and hopes to emulate their careers. What’s wrong with that?
By the time, Zac is Depp’s age, Depp would be in his seventies, so yes, Zac is part of the crop of future talent.
I bet when they were Zac’s age, DiCaprio and Depp posed for these mags (are still posing for them) and had such drivel written about them, it didn’t affect where they are now because they know it’s all media shenanigan.
Give Zac credit, he knows that too and I’m sure he’s aware that it’s his talent that will give him longevity in hollywood, this is just necessary promo which EVERY actor in hollywood does including veterans like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.
Let’s not come with the false sense of outrage like he’s doing what others haven’t done before. If you’re going to criticise him, have the honesty and integrity to do it justly.
I like the artisitic look of the cover. I really hope this time they gave him a sensible interview that will appeal to a broader base than tweens.
He’s an intelligent 21 year old that has more depth than his looks and his PR needs to start showing that if he’s going to transition this heartthrob phase well.

I find it interesting that when Zac talked about the night he was at the Lakers game the same night Leonardo DiCaprio was there and they sat together courtside, Zac’s account of that night was that they “talked the whole game” and made it seem like they were such good friends after that game. However, if you watched an interview E! News had, and they asked Leo about that same encounter, Leo’s response was that they talked very “briefly” and had only met each other because Leo was there with a friend (Kevin Connelly) who sat next to Zac, according to Leo. Funny how they have 2 very different accounts of the same night. It seems that meeting meant more to Zac than it did to Leo, obviously.

I think what a lot of people don’t understand nor realise, is that all you have seen of Zac so far, has been his Disney PR self. That’s not Zac. And in time you will see him for the natural charming, self effacing, funny guy that he is. He is so normal and so unaffected, people don’t like that and so they pick him apart, because really he is just that normal. His own self is starting to show though, as 17 promo is going along. It’s a new Zac. An un-Disney Zac. (Same goes for his gorgous gf too, who will wow everyone in SP).

This video means nothing. Obviously Leo is a very polite and classy guy who acknowledges his fellow actors. He even acknowledged Vanessa. What has more weight to me is how they acknowlege one another with their words, and I’m merely pointing out that Zac made the encounter with Leo out to be more than what Leo thought of it. I mean think about it, how can one person think of their meeting as a “brief” encounter while the other party chooses to describe the same event as “the whole game”. Very amusing - and actually, kind of embarrassing for Zac, if you ask me.

I saw that E! thing with Leo, and you know, it kind of reminded me of the Fay Dunaway comment when she found out Hillary Duff was playing Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde.
Sounds as if Leo is trying to “downplay” that he actually spent time talking with Zac–”we chatted briefly.” And then he seems to be pointing a finger at the paparazzi attention Zac is getting. Even dissing the types of movies Zac makes.

Why’s he getting blamed for the way the shoot looks? They direct him and dress him for their concept, he doesn’t have a say in it. His reviews for Me & Orson Welles were good so it’s not like he can’t act. He’s still young and making his way, Leonardo had Growing Pains and Johnny Depp had 21 Jump Street. Know your history if you want to say Zac won’t get anywhere in the business.
Leo’s young life was filled with turmoil because of his parents’ divorce. By around 16, he was a lost soul—part of the “P-u-s-s-y Posse,” who hung out together chasing girls and drinking. I remember reading numerous articles about him being drunk and getting into fist fights and brawls and going from one female to another in rapid succession.
So, maybe Mr. DiCaprio is envious of the stable, grounded and totally focused life Zac has at the young age of 21. Something Leo never had.
Because somewhere inside him—the place where envy smolders—the need to belittle Zac Efron came to life. Such words do not paint a positive or mature picture of Mr. DiCaprio.

I think Zac could be the future. I think he could be the future in a big boxoffice draw way like a Brad Pitt or Will Smith. I haven’t really seen him in other movies besides musicals latelely besides 17 again, but I think if he is to become the future in a amazing actor way like what his fans says then I think he should try now to open his range as an actor because truthfully I believe Emile Hirsch and Shia Labeouf were much more broader actors than Zac when they were his age. But I won’t count him out as not achieving that goal because I think if he really loves acting which I see he does then he can become the future in an amazing actor kind of way.
Also to be honest like Naomi said, we shouldn’t compare Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp to Zac Efron because they are in a different league than him, and to all Leo haters, I bet you Leo is no where near jealous of Zac with all the work he has done and the accomplishments he has made when he was the at the age Zac was.

the boy has talents and skills aside from good looks, grounded upbringing and a healthy attitude towards his career. given good breaks and movie projects, he will go far. in his latest Today interview in Austrailia, he talked about how is seriously contemplating on his next project and deciding which way to go. he is a smart boy under those good looks and yes, he will one of the leading stars in a few years.
He is very, very, VERY overrated. He wouldn’t have half the attention he has nowadays if it wasn’t for his pretty boy looks and him being manufactured by Disney. I think the real ” future” should be actors like Derek Luke, Shia Labeouf, Micheal Copon, Coloumbus Short, and Nolan Gerard Funk. Not overrated talent challenged stars from Disney who are put in every movie to get more money from the HSM fanbase.

Zac was NOT created by Disney. He did two non-Disney movies before the HSM ones AND Summerland.
HSM is over, done, finished. His and Vanessa’s contract with Disney ended in November.

He’s promoting 17 Again, She’s being pursued for Dead @17 AND Sucker Punch and will begin promoting Bandslam. They’re Disney days are over and done and Disney has no stake in their romance because they actually never did. Disney tried to make them downplay it.
We have been reading “fans” like you (and I use the term lightly) predict the end for years now, that’s right YEARS. They were going to break up: After the pictures of vanessa, after each one of the HSMs, after Hairspray, after HSM 3 came out then it got moved back to after the video came out then it got moved to after the music came out.

Oh, yes, Leo was a part of that disgusting “posse” alongside the likes of Tobey the Spiderman himself. It may not be either of these two would like to be know for at this time in their lives but it was true nonetheless.
And hearing Leo’s comments my first response was he was acting like a prick and downplaying Zac because he knows the way of the business and he knows perfectly well he will one day be the older guy who just may be losing out on scripts to the like of Zac Efron. Leo can see Zac has a lot of potential and that he is bound to only get better with practice and experience as he ages—and that age is going to be a decade younger than Leo.
But then I also tried to give Leo the benefit of the doubt and allow for the fact that Leo doesn’t speak to the press about private kind of stuff so he may have downplayed his conversation with Zac in thinking it was nobody’s business what he and Zac were talking about. And maybe he also understood that Zac is overrun with media and paps as it is and if he said something news worthy it would only put the spotlight on Zac or even him that much more.

Ted Casablanca from E online is an low-budget Perez with better hair. He was always talk trash about the people he crushes on but have no chance hell of ever meeting.
There are other actors that I would say are the future: Emile Hirsch, Shia LaBouf, Robert Pattinson. I believe that Zac is way overrated. He just knows how to play the “Hollywood” game, but as far as real acting talent, way too overrated!

Boy, it seems a lot of Zac’s fans are delusional! They paint whoever the other party might be as someone negative just to make sure dear Zac doesn’t look bad. At least Zac has been critically acclaimed for his acting pre-HSM and for his movie, Me and Orson Welles which was featured at the Toronto film festival and is not a ‘heartthrob’ movie.
Whatever people think of him, he has talent and potential and as long as he makes good role choices, he ain’t going anywhere which means, he is the future.
Leo and Travolta at one point in their career when they were young had to drop out of the movie scene to shed the hearthrob thing and came back and re-invented themselves. I’m sure there were people that wrote them off then much as some of you are doing to Zac.
Zac has is young and talented, he will make his mistakes and learn from them like others have done, he is hard working and determined and will get to where he wants to be.

Everywhere he goes, he is accompanied by a staff, including his publicist and a security detail.
Any entertainment venues or events he might attend are for the purpose of promoting his movie “17 Again.”
He has received back-stage passes to numerous concerts in the country, some of which he may or may not attend.
The final decision on which events to attend is made by Mr. Efron’s publicist, not Mr. Efron, himself.
The guiding force behind any public relations’ decision is “more bang for your buck.” So, whichever events will bring Mr. Efron the most attention and get his face before the public will be the ones chosen.

For Real, you stated that Zac’s appearances are arranged to give “more bang for the buck.” Yet he clearly was not in publicity mode at the Taylor Swift concert, as Elle reported that he hid in the wings of the stage and shook his head when recognized. He’d have been “front and center” if he had wanted to be seen.
But Zac’s being backstage at Taylor’s concert—-which has NEVER been officially confirmed even after all this time and commotion about it—-may have been one of those moments where Zac was just trying to have some down time while on this tour. Vanessa did the same kind of thing last year while she was filming in Austin by going to a Miley concert and even though it was reported she was there by some fans it was never really confirmed. She also was trying to stay out of the limelight at that time since it was not her moment and she was just trying to relax. Also, perhaps Zac was interviewed by someone there that will come out a little later. Many interviews and such do not come out right away.
i don’t understand why people are so quick to look for zac doing something bad. well, yes, i do. the haters are so waiting for him to “f-u-c-k up.” wasn’t that what zac said?

I have no clue how all that stuff works, but the fact that Zac has:
an agency
an agent
a manager
a pr person
an assistant
an attorney (and probably other staff) that he’s paying for their services, he certainly must be using them to his advantage. He is not doing this promotion on his own.
And being “back stage” or in the wings at a concert is not hiding. There are press and photographers back there. IF Zac did go to the concert, there will be pics surfacing. Not just fan pics but ones from news agencies. There will be pics of hims posing with Taylor.

People, People. Please this is the opinion of this magazine. I am sure if you open the magazine and read the article, there are probably more than one actors/actresses names written as part of the future actors/actresses. As part of the movie buffs and viewers, these young actors/actresses such as Zac, Vanessa, Robert P, etc. should all be given chances to show their acting performance and skills to the world first to determined to be judged or not. Right now, it appears directors and producers are offering entertainment roles offers to these young performers, which mark these actors/actresses somewhat going towards that direction of the future entertainers.
Why are some of you going on and on about Robert Pattinson? Frankly, I don’t see anything in the guy - he’s OK looking, he can’t act very well, and he smokes and stumbles out of bars wasted more than not. yeah, a real hero - not. He is nothing special IMHO…
At least Zac has qualities that people can admire….he’s a beautiful person inside and out. He is aware of his image and keeps everything on a positive level - here’s wishing him the best!

The point is there was no official word that Vanessa was at that concert except for the fan pic. She went for relaxation and to see a friend. She had been working and there was stress from that and she needed a chane of pace—some fun. The very same thing can be said of Zac at Taylor’s concert but most likely it was due to the fact she had come to his premiere and so she extended the invitation for him to come to her concert. It’s not a biggie to figure out or believe.
