Orlando Bloom is all Thai-ed Up
Orlando Bloom and a female friend have an early dinner at a Thai restaurant in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 29).
The 32-year-old actor is close to joining the Main Street project, one of Horton Foote’s last works.
Orly will be joining a cast that already includes: Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson, Colin Firth and Andrew McCarthy.
The drama takes plays in a small town in North Carolina where a stranger arrives and the town is changed. O will play a policeman in the town.

Oh, and since you displayed your stupidity by claiming not to know any of the names in this movie, please Google Horton Foote. He is one of the best. He won Oscars for his screenplays for To Kill a Mockinbird and Tender Mercies, and wrote A Trip To Bountiful. This was his last screenplay. The director is well respected, and has won a Tony award on Braodway. And as for the cast… if you don’t recognize the names Colin Firth and Ellen Burstyn, well, that means that you must be 12 years old. Or too ignorant to be believed.
Anyway, Orlando signing for this movie is great news. It has to be a great script, and it is the type of film that will be taken seriously by critics. They can’t brush him off as a pretty boy, when delivering lines by Horton Foote.

Some whorelando fans are paranoid for thinking it’s just one poster who dislikes their beloved. Yup i think he had worked with some of the known directors/producers, but mostly as supporting roles. His solo starrer seemed to not make a mark as compared to the latter!
IMO i don’t think hollywood has taken him as a serious actor, but rather a character actor. He would’ve by now starring or making films like those of will, brad, tom, johnny, leo etc if it’s indeed true that he’s a big, famous, talented actor who can headline and carry a movie.
Fans should not feel sorry or defensive if some are posting negative comments. To each his own and not everyone will be pleased or like him.

His “solo starrer” called Kingdom of Heaven earned over 211 million at the box office. I’d say that made an impact.
The problem he has is that most people see him as a heartthrob/action star. He needs to break away from the sword wielding characters, and play more serious roles. He did that beautifully in Haven, but too few people saw that movie. By taking a break, then taking roles in smaller movies, he can make people see him in a different light. And taking roles in QUALITY smaller films, he can re-shape his career. Anyone who has seen Ned Kelly or Haven, knows that he is a talented actor. He just needs to find a new niche.

The thing is, he is smart enought to know that posts of Orlando or Miranda, and especially Orlando AND Miranda generate a lot of hits. If a celeb generates hits, he will be more likely to post their images. That is just common sense. Something that is hard to come by on Delphi.

I still admire the man. He has talent, and an enormous heart. it’s your perogative to lose interest in him, but don’t try to speak for all of his fans. It’s a natural progression for stars. Some fans fall by the wayside to start following the next big thing, only to find that their new object of obsession isn’t perfect either.

You are comparing Orlando Bloom to Johnny Depp and Sean Penn, when it has not been demonstrated in the past 10 years (the amount of time Bloom has been acting professionally) that he possesses *their* degree of TALENT and SKILL. Talent and skill are two different things, and potential that remains undeveloped and not fully realized is just that : potential.
Potential does not make a great actor, great writer, great poet, great painter or a great anything. Like talent, it’s a starting point, but that alleged potential must be developed and turned into a genuine SKILL. We can all talk about our own potential in this or that area, but at some point, the people we brag to will say, “Put up or shut up. Let’s see what you can really do, besides TALK about what you can do.”
Hollywood is not going to wait forever until Bloom, or any other actor, finally develops his “potential,” especially when that actor - namely Bloom - has had some of the greatest opportunities to work with some of the finest talents Hollywood and the motion picture industry have to offer, both in front of and behind the camera. Bloom can honestly say he has worked with some of the best.

To the poster farther up who suggested that “Kingdom of Heaven” made over 200 million dollars world wide and was therefor a financial success, that is possibly true - from that perspective. However, in the US, it made about $46 million, which was considered a very poor return on the studio’s investment. If you’re going to compare world wide stats instead of focusing on US gross, then try doing that for other films as well, and you’ll see the numbers sky rocket for most other films. Keep the comparisons consistent, and you’ll find many of the films released that year, including but not limited to Lucas’s final installment of “Star Wars,” all did exceedingly well worldwide.
The real industry barometer for an actor’s star power and box office strength still lies in the US, whether people like it or not, and Bloom’s box office strength is tied to his supporting roles in great films or franchises, such as LOTR and POTC. On his own, he does better in smaller independent films which fewer people see. His acting remains inconsistent and often self-conscious, which is the mark of inadequate experience. Training he has. The proper framework and experience foundation is what he lacks, and trying to get those things now after having been hyped to oblivion, labeled an A-Lister and often over-rated is not likely to pan out. He’s doing things in reverse. His manager and PR team can pat themselves on the back for helping to put him in the career position he currently finds himself in. I wouldn’t blame his girlfriends for his career choices or undeveloped ‘potential.’ That responsibility lies soley with Bloom.
Also to the poster farther up who suggested that a better script is going to some how prove Bloom to be a better actor, I again respectfully disagree. You can give an actor a better script, a better director, a better film editor, etc, but as Bloom has been given ALL those things repeatedly since 1999, minus E-Town, I’d say the verdict is in. What you see is what you get. He appears (in MY opinion only) to be far more interested in being a celebrity, “the next big something” as he called it in his “Elle” mag. interview from Oct. ‘03, and associating with the important and influential people in Tinseltown, hitting the clubs (preferably ones with paps and a trendy rep) and having ‘girlfriends’ that he can get papped with and engage in mutual exploitation, rather than focusing on being the best actor he can be. He also appears to be quite comfortable lying about future projects and his alleged ‘official’ website, in addition to misrepresenting who and what he truly is and believes in. Perhaps he does these things in order to get what he wants.
When you see other big name actors, or actors whom Bloom has worked with who have had years of handling fame and success, manage to keep their whereabouts and private lives private, and you compare them to Bloom, who has had access to those fine actors and their wisdom, you realize that not is all as it would seem with Orlando. And with the passing of time, certain truths become much clearer.
Just as water seeks its own level, Bloom’s choices and whatever talent he possesses and has made an effort to develop will seek its own level as well. The greatest director in the world, along with the greatest writers and editors can only do so much. When Bloom is surrounded by strong talent, the benefits of such an ensemble rub off on him. Left to his own devices and not given such ‘help,’ what you see is what you get, which is what is most likely all there is. Hopefully, he’s spent more time taking private acting classes than he has in getting papped with Miranda and Kate over the years.

The only pics that we saw from Orlando’s trips to Nepal, Russia, etc. were though private blogs or UNICEF. He didn’t invite the press to go on the trip like Angelina and others do. can i just say what a well thought through post, you’ve voiced what i’ve thought about OB for a while, he was pushed up too big too soon - whatever talent he does or doesn’t have its going to be hard for him to reveal it now, the majority of the world has accepted him settling as a celebrity and little else……
Say that he’ll never be great at acting, that’s what was said some years ago about many actors who now are being praised like if they had saved the world. Judging his skills based on what you’ve seen on blockbusters made by people who were more interested in selling tickets than in doing real art makes you quite limited. He’s taking the right direction lining up projects that focus on the acting, the characters and a good story.
Those of you who don’t like him, get over him and move on. Don’t you constantly repeat that there are better actors out there who besides are perfect saints worth of your devotion? “Young girl” in my opinion would mean a minor (i.e. someone under the ‘age of consent’ - or under 18 to be exact. Of course that does vary from country to country and I believe in the U.K. where Orlando hails from the ‘legal age’ [except for drinking] is actually 16.) But If you mean to imply that he likes young ”women,’ then I’d agree with you. Keep in mind that Orlando has always seemed rather ‘young’ for his age - not just in his appearance but his personality as well. Some might consider him to be a bit immature emotionally in which case he may feel more comfortable with ‘younger women.’

Orlando: Hit it BIG the first time at bat. LOTR, and Pirates. Two of the biggest trilogies in the history of filmaking, each earning over a BILLION dollars at the box office. He is known worldwide, and is the heartthrob to millions. He has a face so recognizable that he was paid more than Brad Pitt for commercials he did in Japan. Even after being out of the limelight for over a year, he is still a star.

To show you the difference between us Orlando fans and you, no Orlando wasn’t offered that role. There was a survey on the Internet to know who did people want in that role and apparently Orlando got the biggest number of votes, that’s where the rumour came from.
He did, however, turn another blockbuster down: Pompeii, with Roman Polanski as the director. Both Orlando and Scarlett Johansson turned it down and finally Polanski left the project as well.
I agree with 145 by the way, I have nothing against Jake but he’s never been a physical actor like Orlando, he looks nothing like the Prince of Persia and that first picture of him in costume with that stupid expression is ridiculous.

The reason I dislike most Miranda fans is because they all pretty much claim that anyone who doesn’t like her of being a hater or loony or claim that they are just jealous. Is it not possible for people to dislike her without being accused of being any of the above. I for one dislike Miranda for her actions and the way she so eagerly uses others to climb the ladder to fame. I know I don’t know her but neither do a lot of you who pretty much worship her. Just because I happen not to agree with the things she does does not in any way make me a hater. If you want to like her and think she is a wonderful person that is fine by me, because I am in no way trying to change anyones opinion. She first of all ditches the love of her life and starts hooking up with bloom right after. Then as soon as she starts dating him she mentions him every chance she gets while claiming that she is such a private person. If she really didn’t want to talk abput him shr could have it arranged before the interview, like other models who don’t talk about theur bf. She also claims to dislike the paps. But in the majority of pap pics you see of her she is smiling and posing for the paps. She only got the dj gig after she hooked up with bloom. Beforehand the company didn’t even consider hiring her. Nothing about this relationship has been private. This whole relationship has been About getting publivity. Even before she was with bloom, actually when she was first photographed with him her and her pr team used that to get all the publicity they could, even though she was still dating Jay at the time, which to me is very tacky. I personally have not called her a ****, but she sure as heck acts like one. Wearing outfits that flash her boobs, and wearing a see through top without a bra, while being interviwed. Then those photos if her dancing on top of tables and going around throughing herself at a bunch of different men. There is a different between having a good time and acting like a total ****. I guess it is not all her fault, really though. She has parents that allowed provacative photos being taken of her at a really young age, while other parents try to protect their children as long as possible. They pretty much trade their daughters innocence for fame and money, which to be is just sad. But then again if that is what they want then so be it. Money and fame is not everything you know, but i guess to them it is.I am sorry if I offended You. I tried to go about it in a nice way, but you chose to make it difficult. IMDB has the financial stats of world wide gross figures for films. Here is a list of films and the dollars they have taken in during their theatrical releases. When I stated in my previous post that “If you’re going to compare world wide stats instead of focusing on US gross, then try doing that for other films as well,” this is what I meant.

She’s not the biggest and most famous model out there, hardly anyone knows her outside OZ. What else she got aside from VS (overshadowed by her fellow angels in terms of contracts, ad campaigns, commercials, magazine covers, runway works) and DJ?

p.s. for me, it’s quite hard to believe her ranking on forbes magazine last year cause she doesn’t much have contracts to support it, she wasn’t even an official angel when that list was announced or i could be wrong also.
as for the other models on that list, it’s very visible that they have big multiple contracts or big ad campaigns/commercials or have graced the prestigious designers’ shows.
Firstly, i’m not a member of delphi (wonder why they do spend so much time about miranda).
Don’t accuse anyone who dislikes her to be a member of delphi or fatjealoushater for the very reason that she dates bloom. Seriously, there’s nothing to be jealous about dating an actor who seems not to respect your feelings, and certainly miranda isn’t the type of model you want to be jealous of. If i’d be jealous of a particular model, it has to be doutzen. Not only that girl is beautiful and successful, but also has a pleasant personality. I think anyone who has read or watched her interviews or even met her in person can tell that the girl is not pretending someone she’s not and very consistent with her answers.
I even wonder if she’s capable of lying. So that’s it, i’m jealous of doutzen not MIRANDA cause the girl has a nice, approachable, down to earth personality. Do we ever hear a complain or bad rumors about her considering that she’s big in the fashion world?

I had no idea that he did so well. You see, all of those big movie stars had films that ranked lower than Kingdom of Heaven. Isn’t that amazing! And like you said, that doesn’t include the DVD sales! I remember reading that the directors cut of Kingdom was one of the best selling DC’s ever produced.

You should give credit where credit is due and Miranda is a very successful model in a tough industry.
I could go on but it simply proves that all the reasons you dislike Miranda are based on very petty and vague reasons, and more to do with the fact she is in a relationship with Orlando!

MAYBE but not to the likes of those who made it big both in highfashion and commercial modelling. I’d say those kind of models are the very successful ones in a tough industry. Miranda didn’t even walk or had campaigns for big time highfashion designers before joining VS.
IMO, she’s only famous in OZ but outside of it and in the fashion world NO.

Yes, Miranda is successful. No she isn’t in the same league as some of the elite. But should that matter? I never have understood the purpose of this discussion.
In one breath, some of Orlando’s fans wish that he would date a “normal girl”, but in the next breath, Miranda isn’t good enough because she isn’t as successful as Gisele.
The same happened with Kate. She was a moderately successful actress, but she was criticized for not being on the level of Julia Roberts.
What difference does it make?
He’s dating her. He evidently doesn’t care that she isn’t “high fashion”.
With a name like that, DOUTZEN will never be hugely famous. English speaking people don’t know how the f to pronounce it. She’s pretty in a very boring way and has nothing memorable to make her famous on the mainstream. She needs a famous bf like those fameho models if she is to be well known globally, or maybe she isn’t desperate for fame that she doesn’t want to attach herself or use other people to get recognition and get ahead.
Oh, I think that Doutzen is gorgeous, and most Americans think that odd names are exotic and interestiong, so it is stupid to say that she will be held back because of that.
Like I said, I think that she is gorgeous, but she really doesn’t know how to pose or walk. When she tries to look ’sexy’ for VS, she comes off looking like a mouth breather. Her runway walk is clumsy, not graceful. Plus, she is a bit on the big side.
IMO, she is prettier than Miranda (who I also think is gorgeous, just in a different way), but Miranda beats her in actual modeling versatility.
Will she become ‘Gisele Famous’? Who knows. But she needs to work on her facial expressions and her walk. And lose a bit of weight.

Doutzen is ‘big’ for a runway model. She’s probably o.k. though for VS. Her build is more athletic and muscular. Miranda is ‘runway slender’ and to me seems more delicate looking. Both of them are beautiful - but different. They’re just different types. As far as ‘exotic’ is concerned, I think Miranda’s face is very exotic looking with those slightly-slanted, very vivid blue eyes - one of her most striking features. Although I think both girls are certainly attractive, personally I like Miranda’s over-all ‘look’ better, especially for modeling.
I like both of them. But the advantage that Doutzen has (as far as posters on JJ are concerned) is that she isn’t dating Orlando. If she was, SHE would be the one being crucified, and Miranda would be the one being placed on a pedestal.
It has nothing to do about dating orlando and why on earth some fans keep on picking doutzen…
Doutzen is way out of miranda’s league and i’m quite sure that this boring model by the name of doutzen won’t like the idea of dating bloom or other hollywood actors cause simply it’s not her cup of tea. Besides, why will doutzen need to date a famous actor when she’s already famous in her own rights? She gets to do what she likes doing and be paid well and no need to use someone elses name to put herself out there.
