Brad Pitt Heads to Cannes for Inglourious ********

Last year, Brad Pitt attended Cannes to support wife Angelina Jolie’s films, but this May, the actor hopes to win for his new Quentin Tarantino-directed film, Inglourious ********.

The World War II was invited to compete in the film festival, and will also be ready for its world premiere, Variety reported.

The film follows a band of Jewish-American soldiers trying to take down a group of Nazis and will premiere Aug. 21.

Pitt, a regular at the festival, attended last year alongside Jolie as she debuted Changeling and Kung Fu Panda.

This year’s festival will take place May 13-24, and its line-up will be announced April 23.

Brad Pitt is one of the most talent actors. I enjoy his movies. His good looking doesn’t hurt either.

Oh cat, give it up. He is showing his age, his face is still beautiful just older, and there is nothing you can show or say to change that reality. He is not in his 20’s or 30’s he is now 45 and the totally involved father of 6 kids 7 and under. As a fellow parent it is evident to me that he is now (and Angie as well) getting more sleep as the twins are at the age (9 months) where they are sleeping through the nite, and he looks more rested lately. No cosmetic skin tightening wackiness going on, just more sleep, which does wonders.

I know you will keep on with your ludricrous crusade to paint him as you want to but you are just silly to do so. This man is comfortable in his skin, comfortable where he is in his life, comfortable with his choices. He is just plain delicious.

When the “news” of the split between Maniston and Mayer first hit the press I initially thought it was a waste of time to clicky clack my fingers on the keyboard because I thought everyone had to be on the same page that this “relationship” was the biggest crock of you know what! It’s a lot like the Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie “relationship”. Remember he went as far as to put her in the video “You Are Not Alone ” and the gross fake kiss at the MTV awards?

Ashton Kutcher is Twitterific! Ashton twitters like it is going out of style! He was doing so much that a few months ago his wifey Demi Moore opened an account and joined him! I follow both of them on Twitter and they are in love with each other and clearly in love with Twitter.

It has also been claimed that John made no attempt to cover up his Tweets from Jen. That’s an easy one to figure out. I’m sure hiding his Tweets was not apart of the original financial arrangement between the two of them. Of course he didn’t care. I’m sure even with the handsome reward he received for being an “Oscars boyfriend” his friends were making fun of him and he was TIRED of it.

I don’t know Mayer from a can of paint. I think he’s got great guitar skills but as far as being some deep and introspective guy, I am not so sure. He seems to be more along the line of ”young, dumb, and full of you know what”! He has been tweeting a lot lately about country music hottie of the month Taylor Swift. I’m sure that Swift is more Mayer’s cup of coffee!

According to NYC-based plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden, M.D., he looks like he had both a facial-resurfacing procedure and fillers in his wrinkles.

Dr. Walden, who has not treated Brad, shared her observations, saying: “Before, Brad’s skin was ruddy, a result of aging from stress and sun exposure. Quentin Tarantino’s Second World War film Inglourious ********, starring Brad Pitt, is to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The wartime epic about a band of Jewish-American soldiers on a mission in Nazi-occupied France will show in official competition, according to Variety. Tarantino is a favourite of Cannes organisers - he won the Palme d’Or in 1994 with Pulp Fiction and chaired the jury in 2004.

The director has kept many details of the eagerly-awaited film under wraps - including the reason for the curious spelling of the title - but has described it as “truly spaghetti Western”. He has been working on the script for almost a decade. The title is taken from a 1978 film, Inglorious ********, by Enzo G Castellari, itself an homage to The Dirty Dozen.

Pitt plays Lieutenant Aldo Raine, a Southern redneck who assembles a squad to hunt down and kill the Germans. The ensemble cast includes Michael Fassbender, star of Hunger, and German actress Diane Kruger.

The film is rumoured to feature scenes of gut-churning violence. In the trailer, Pitt tells his men: “We’re going to be doing one thing and one thing only - killing Nazis. We will be cruel to the German, and through our cruelty they will know who we are. They will find the evidence of our cruelty in the disembowelled, dismembered and disfigured bodies of their brothers we leave behind us.”

The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 13-24 this year and the official line-up will be unveiled on April 23. This just in: Quentin Tarantino will be taking his fightin’-Jews WWII action movie “Inglourious ********” (sic, sic, sic) to compete in this year’s Cannes Film Festival, held from May 13 to 24. The screenplay has been floating around the interweb for a while and Vanity Fair just went and posted some serious glam shots of cast-members Brad Pitt et al (see above). To Cat- Look close enough and you will see that they exaggerated his wrinkles. You can tell because there is a difference in the skin texture from his check to the corner of his eye out to his ear. And even if he is that old looking, you have to understand he is gorgeous not only because he is easy on the eyes but he is even sexier because, off the set he is a father, loving partner and humanitarian. That is what makes him gorgeous to me. Age will take its toll eventually but his heart will still be awesome.

I’m a huge Jennifer Aniston fan, but I don’t hate the Jolie-Pitts. I see no reason to hate them. I was reading Debra’s list, and in my opinion she’s right. As much as I would have liked Brad to stay with Jennifer, it’s his life, and if Angelina makes him happy now, why not moving on? Nothing lasts forever, Brad and Jen are over. Now it’s Brangelina. They’re all beautiful and talented people who have remarkable lives. I think we can find a middle place where people stopped fighting about them, be mature and see them as celebrities you admire but mostly live our own lives the best we can while we get along with everyone.

Every so often someone writes a trend story about movie star pay that is utterly wrong because the reporter has no idea how Hollywood deals are done. So let’s do a brief refresher course.

The example today was the Wall Street Journal’s report, “Hollywood Squeezes Stars’ Pay in Slump,” which is being cited everywhere to suggest that there’s no money left in the movies. This is wrong. If your movie just opened huge last weekend, a studio will still back up a Brinks truck to your Hollywood Hills abode.

Lauren A.E. Schuker starts out with a way-past-his-prime Eddie Murphy. But even there, she makes a muddled mess of things:

For years, top movie stars often landed deals paying them a percentage — sometimes as much as 20% — of a studio’s take of box-office revenues from the first dollar the movie makes, even if it turned out to be a flop that cost the studio millions. As a result, the biggest celebrities broke the $20 million mark. Eddie Murphy got that kind of payday for the flop “Meet Dave,” which cost Twentieth Century Fox about $70 million and took in only $11.8 million at the domestic box office.

Simple math will tell you that 20% of $11.8 million does not equal $20 million. Murphy may have indeed made more than $20 million for Meet Dave (because life is not fair), but it’s not because of what (as Schuker litters her piece with) a “first dollar gross” deal. So before she or another reporter tries to tackle the issue of movie star pay,
here is a quick run-down of the kind of movie deals that studios make with talent.

“20 Against 20″: That’s shorthand for saying $20 million in advance against 20% of the gross profits. These are the gold-plated deals that top stars expect. It’s mostly a boys club: Denzel Washington, Ben Stiller, Jim Carrey. In order for a movie to earn out the advance, it would need to make $200 million at the box office. After that the gross points kick in. This is the kind of deal Schuker is describing when she says Murphy could have made $20 million on Meet Dave despite it flopping. Studios hate them mostly because, while they always resent seeing stars get rich while they lose money, they are looking for ways to minimize the amount of money they lay out upfront when they greenlight a film.

For most studio films, there’s an upfront payment — for instance, the $15 million Angelina Jolie gets — but the backend is always more important. And those deals come in two flavors, “net points” and “gross points.”

I loved this project. Everyone involved took the opportunity to think new and to build better, instead of just replacing what was there before the hurricane. It would have been easy to throw up a few stick-framed cottages on cinder blocks. I’m sure we could have built half a dozen of them in the time it took to make this one house. But what would be the point? That’s not the way to protect the people if it ever happened again.

We wanted to build this house to the standard of LEED Platinum. That requires a high level of planning, integration and execution in the construction project. But for me, building to LEED standard is always a trade-off - we want to minimize materials used but not compromise strength.

One of the goals of LEED construction is to reduce the quantity of materials used. The house plans called for stud walls built 24 inches on centre. But we needed to make a very strong house - this is a hurricane zone, remember. I insisted on 16 inches on centre, which is stronger, as well as threaded steel rods that run from the top plate of the second floor to the sill beam. But every “extra” structural element that was added to the design has an effect on the LEED rating. I’m proud that our house achieved LEED Platinum rating, but it was a challenge.

Design of the House

New Orleans is hit by hurricanes and tropical storms all the time, so it’s really important every home helps protect residents during a storm. This house is built 2.43 metres above grade, which raises the house above flood level. If there is ever a massive storm surge from a storm or levee break, it will flow around the columns and under the house.

The structure and roof load of the house are designed to withstand winds of up to 150 kilometres per hour. The metal roof is designed to withstand wind of up to 130 km/h. All the windows are made with glass that can withstand impacts of up to 80 km/h.

Exterior doors on the house open out, rather than in, to prevent the doors blowing in from wind pressure.

All Make it Right houses have an escape hatch, to allow homeowners to get out in case of a catastrophic flood. In this case, a window on the second floor above the side porch opens onto the low pitched roof.

Green Features

One of the goals of the Make It Right Foundation is to build houses that are sustainable and energy-efficient. All of the houses are designed to LEED standard.

i agree. Some people just age better than others. Given his success and how fortuante he has been in his life, i am sure that a good “problem” to have. But I have to say - even at the height of his looks - other than for one week after “Legends of the Fall”, when i was in love with him - I just haven’t been able to see what everyone sees in his looks. Although, a marriage license does not mean anything anymore especially in Hollywood. but I would still like to see them tie the knot. and agree with you, it seem to me it’s Brad who is not keen on marriage, remember the last time Angie talk about their kids questioning them that why can Shrek married his lady love and they are not. something like it. I think Angie still long for it. . Angie was more conservative than we think, she was always married and committed to a person in most of her adult life, and the way she talked about family, children. she’s not the wild child which the tab. told us . Speaking for myself, I respond to the troll posts about X because it’s a hobby of mine. It’s kind of like collecting state quarters. Plus, it’s fun to rag on X. She gives me great material and it’s easy work. The fact that her fans are as dumb as she is - well…that’s just gravy. I mean wasn’t there just another sighting of Brad in Central Park with boys, And then afew hours later pictures came out showing him in another city 3 or 4 hours behind NY and he couldn’t possible be there at the same time ? The poster said paparazi were following him and the boys. So it seems Some people just lie about sightings. I doubt even if these sightings have taken placed.

I just can’t see it being Wilson. Without Wilson House has no Friends! LOL. Seriously though - Wilson would be explainable because of Amber’s death and the new info about his schizo brother…but nah…I can’t see Robert Sean Leonard having “creative differences”. House is the best gig he’s had since Dead Poets Society dog years ago. If you look at his IMDB credits he has nothing listed from 2003 forward EXCEPT House. He even joked in an interview that it was the best gig ever because actors are paid their full salary for each episode…so if he only has 1 or 2 scenes that week…he still got his regular paycheck. He laughed…but I really don’t think he was kidding. HL makes $400K per ep and the rest of the original cast is probably making $100K each -22 episodes - $2.2MIL…easy money.

One of my favorite episodes is the one where just about every other character pointed out to Foreman than he and house even had the same sneakers. They’d broke into the patient’s house to look for clues…and Cameron commented on the sneakers. Later in the locker room…Chase comments on the sneakers. Foreman sees House…looks at his feet and realizes they DO have the same sneakers on…and House says, “Bet you paid twice the price. I bought mine online.” I can’t even remember what was wrong with the patient. I just think of that as the “Sneakers episode.

And on Friday, it provided the backdrop for Mrs. Obama’s equivalent of the Jackie-Kennedy-takes-Paris moment of 1961. No, Mrs. Obama didn’t give a big speech or negotiate a tricky diplomatic incident.

Mrs. Obama went heel to heel with Carla Sarkozy.

There they were, currently the two most famous first ladies in the world, standing side by side — Mrs. Obama, of course, a few inches taller than Mrs. Sarkozy, but not towering over the Italian-born singer, heiress and ex-model as she loomed over the diminutive Queen Elizabeth II. There they were, exchanging the first kiss-kiss, on both cheeks, the European way, clasping each other’s hands, as the Sarkozys welcomed the Obamas to the palace, all to the soundtrack of the clacking of the paparazzi cameras. And there they were, striking identical demure poses, wearing identical bow ties on their coat-dresses, as their men strutted around the red-carpeted inner courtyard, this time to the soundtrack of “Le Marseillaise” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

In the four days of her first European trip as America’s first lady, Mrs. Obama has hugged terminally ill cancer patients at a London hospital, chatted with the “Harry Potter” author J. K. Rowling over wild Scottish salmon, and, her voice cracking with emotion, urged 200 well-behaved ethnically minority (for England) girls at a London school to aim high.

But none of that, not even the meeting with the queen, can come close to finally appearing in the same camera lens with the former Carla Bruni, an Italian-born singer and former Victoria’s Secret model now dominating the French political-fashion scene. All of Europe had been speculating about why it was that Mrs. Sarkozy did not show up in London for the Group of 20 meeting on Thursday. The official explanation from the Élysée Palace was that she wanted some quiet time by herself.

Hmm. Maybe it was all of the comparison of the two women in the European media? Mrs. Sarkozi sparked “Carla-mania” last year when she visited Britain as France’s first lady, but, the British press is a fickle thing. “Carla Bruni may have seduced every man she met last year, but this year Michelle Obama charmed us all,” raved The Guardian in an article headlined, “How Britain was wooed by Michelle Obama.”

The London Times was even nastier. “Carla who?” the newspaper queried Thursday.

Certainly, Mrs. Obama has done a fair amount of wooing so far on the trip. During her appearance at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in London on Thursday, she sent girls into a Beatles-esque frenzy just by showing up.

“Nothing in my life’s path would have predicted that I would be standing here as the first African-American first lady of the United States,” she told them.

When she started to tear up, the girls, responded, collectively, “Awww.” They treated her like a rock star, and Mrs. Obama responded in kind. After a rousing rendition of a song called, “I’m Going All the Way,” which came with a funky groove, Mrs. Obama slapped the hand of the young soloist. The girl literally hopped with excitement, and then held her hand to her mouth.

Mrs. Obama even surprised — and discomfited — her Secret Service agents, when, after her speech at the school, she started hugging every girl in sight.

During the dinner at 10 Downing Street with J. K. Rowling of “Harry Potter” fame and Kelly Holmes of Olympic gold running fame, Mrs. Obama received warm reviews, especially after she told everyone to call her Michelle.

“Michelle walks in and she is as she seems,” Ms. Holmes told reporters afterward. “So warm, engaging, a beautiful lady — and I quickly got my photo in the middle of her and Sarah Brown,” the wife of Britain Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
