Carrie Underwood Wins ACM’s Entertainer of the Year

Carrie Underwood wins the night’s top honors at the 2009 Academy Of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand on Sunday (April 5) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 26-year-old American Idol champ picked up Top Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year (a fan-voted category this year), beating out Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and George Strait. During her acceptance speech, Carrie twirled around and gushed, “Mike baby, I wish you were here,” shouting out her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher.

During the ceremony, Carrie also performed her hit song “I Told You So” in a gorgeous merlot Rafael Cennamo gown, which overtook half of the stage. Check out her performance below!

It’s sad that people think that being an entertainer automatically means that you have to be exciting and flashy ..
She’s an entertainer a lone enough with her amazing voice !

well mike will be readily available next week when he’ll be golfing instead of playing in the playoffs. this is the first time the sens won’t make the postseason in 11 years. haha

she has such an engaging voice. i always get pulled into her performance. and her voice is just amazing!!! its crazy to think that she came from idol. her talent is so above that.

To those that think she didnt deserve it, well, obviously more people thought she did, than didnt. It’s entertainer of THE YEAR, not a lifetime achievement award! Get over it, she’s a good person and does deserve it……we voted!!!!

Everyone seems to think Tony made all the choices when it came to NOT being with Carrie. Uh, think about it, why would she be with HIM???????????? Yeah he lost out getting Jessica after Carrie….but somethng tells me it wasnt all his choice to be where he is now. I watched newlyweds when jessica and nick had their reality show and thought she was the cutest thing! But…after the way she publicly talked about Carrie, etc., I lost all respect for her and cant stand to look at her now. Its as though she’s a different person than we used to see on TV. GO CARRIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re beautiful inside and out!

Carrie rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! I think George Strait is “THE MAN” but I agree, the award wasnt lifetime achievement, it was for the year. She had a great one!!!! Any guy would be lucky to be with her. Tony lost out bigtime!!! You go Carrie…..you’re movin’ on up in more ways than one!

What’s not to love about Carrie Underwood? She is beautiful, she has an amazing voice, but most of all she is genuine. Her personality is bubbly and awesome. I don’t like to hear people put her down because she certainly doesn’t deserve that. I think some people are just plain jealous. So all I am saying is that Carrie, don’t stop doing what you are doing. You are at the top.
