Carrie Underwood Wins ACM’s Entertainer of the Year
Carrie Underwood wins the night’s top honors at the 2009 Academy Of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand on Sunday (April 5) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 26-year-old American Idol champ picked up Top Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year (a fan-voted category this year), beating out Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and George Strait. During her acceptance speech, Carrie twirled around and gushed, “Mike baby, I wish you were here,” shouting out her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher.
During the ceremony, Carrie also performed her hit song “I Told You So” in a gorgeous merlot Rafael Cennamo gown, which overtook half of the stage. Check out her performance below!

i have seen her in concert and keith urban and she defiantly doesn’t come close to the amazing performer keith urban is! Carrie Underwood is pretty and i like her songs but i was EXTREMELY shocked and disappointed that she won. Keith Urban should of won this!!!!!!
So happy for Carrie - she worked so hard for this. I would love to see Keith or Kenny or Brad prance around in 4 inch heels for almost 2 hours - that would be funny. Anyway - love all the guys but THIS year Carrie killed it and deserved it!
Carrie’s red lava dress was stunning. I saw her in concert 5 times between March and Dec and she improved from beginning to end by 100%. You have to remember it was her first headlining tour and once she got it down she brought it! She barely had a day off all year. She enjoyed a wk at the beach with family and was overrun by TMZ. Other than that time off, she was recording, making videos, interviews, sponsoring products, doing photo shoots, sifting thru new tunes, checking out writers, writing herself, appearing on specials, performing charity work, ect. The girl was working non-stop. She is beautiful inside and out. So humble. You heard her give all the glory, goodness, and praise to God. She is a work of art.
I love that Carrie won. She is so talented and beautiful. I agree she deserve this. I also agree Tony lost out big time. This Mike guy beat out Tony.
Carrie without question deserved her award. All you haters can hate all you want, but you can’t take this away from Carrie and her fans. This just proves, once and for all, that Carrie is here to stay.
Carrie does NOT hold a candle to Miranda.
She didn’t deserve to win anything.
Her performance was alright, she sounded WAY better on Idol though.

We all here love you, and your beautiful music! We followed you all the way from American Idol, till now, when you received the Entertainer of the Year-2009. We also the think the world of you when you were taken into The Grand Ole Oprey. We are all so very proud of you, and will always love the music you sing, and perform there at the Grand Ole Oprey.
Reba will be back to being the most dominated female again. Carrie Underwood, I’m sorry, did not deserve any of the success she’s getting. Why? Faith Hill and Shania Twain sold more records and were never really recognized for it. Yes, Faith won top female three times and Shania won EOY once, but that was the extent of it. The CMA and ACMs have become a popularity contest for the teenie boppers and Underwood is reaping the rewards. Country music is no longer about actual talent! Reba’s record with four consecutive top female wins was tied by Underwood? Seriously? Reba only won one EOY from the ACMs and Underwood has one now? Now Underwood has a chance to break Reba’s record? Lord, not that I want it to happend, but, please, allow it to be done by someone who has ACTUAL talent! Martina McBride came close but she wasn’t able to do it, and she is far more talented than Underwood. If Reba’s performance of “Strange” at the ACMs proves anything, it’s that she isn’t going anywhere! She will forever be the TRUE Queen of Country Music!!!
