Ellen Pompeo: Black, White & Pregnant
Ellen Pompeo stays active during her pregnancy as she wears a tight fitting athletic outfit out and about in Beverly Hills on Monday (April 20).
The 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress from Everett, Massachusetts announced over the weekend that she was expecting with husband Chris Ivery!
Babies all around for the Grey’s Anatomy cast! Chyler Leigh, who plays Ellen’s half-sister on the show, is expecting her third child this May!

so you’d rather she had a child with someone she didn’t love because it happen to be early enough than with some one she loved even if it meant that when she turned fifty her child would be 10 she wanted children i mean it not like she already have but i agree just because shes pregant doesn’t mean the paparazzi must invade her privacy even more

Ellen looks great, she doesn’t seem pregnant. How long is she?
She’s pregnant, not dying. They are not going to replace her because of a baby. Most actresses who are pregnant, are able to work around the show so they can film episodes ahead of time so they are not really gone from the show that we know of. Ellen is not going to quit GA. Most actresses also only take a few weeks off depending on when the baby is born
Ausiello is an idiot who will say anything he hears. Let’s not take what he says as gospel okay? We do not even know when she is due. I am sure she can film her scenes ahead of time in case she is on leave. Let’s just calm down and not freak out. They only replace actresses in soaps. Not in primetime.
From what I read she is due in September. So if that is true, then she will be fine. If they start filming season 6 in July then by September they should have a few episodes in the can so they should be okay. And I am sure they can find a way to explain her absense for a few episodes. It can be done here.
I love Ellen. she is one amazing woman.

hey #31, where did you find out when she was due? as for everyone else, let’s stop being stupid for a minute and actually just be happy that she’s going to have the baby she actually wants!
The thing is, they can’t afford to miss Ellen not for one single episode even, she IS the Greay in Grey’s Anatomy. and voice of it all. loosing the main character is out of the question.
And I am sure as well, that they will find a way to work it. shoot ahead of time. The whole cast could be coming back from hiatus one month sooner just to shoot scenes before Ellen is due. They do that as well.

Greys is an ensemble. Meredith gets as much screentime as anyone else (maybe even less). The show won’t suffer if she takes a break. Lexie is already being groomed as the new Grey of the title. Meredith is expendable.
I disagree Lucy, this is Grey’s Anatomy, its about mainly Meredith Grey, then Mcdreamy then the rest. plus we see it all through her eyes and her voice. the show can’t do without Ellen no matter what. it’s a fact. which explains why she and Mcdreamy are the only two who are paid the most on the show, if you want to look at it differently.
I agree with Lucy - Meredith is part of an ensemble. Greys is known as an ensemble show. Fact. This is not House, where Hugh Laurie’s role dominates the entire show.
Just because she does the voiceover + her surname is Grey does not elevate her above the rest. Katherine Heigl is paid practically the same and has far more acclaim to her name. The original cast are only signed for another 2 seasons anyway - that’s why new interns including Lexie Grey have been introduced to hand the baton over. Like ER, Greys will go on when the original cast have left. Make the most of it as it may be the last you see of her.
Actually PD and EP are paid a lot more than the rest, it was on ET last week. they both get paid the same, much more the rest of the cast and I agree with Martin, that is because they are the main characters of the show.
you can do without the rest for some time but you can’t do without Mer and Der for sure.
Even Shonda said that. It’s how the show moves. Not really a question of who we like more and who we want to be the bigger one in this show.

I’m happy for Ellen. I think it’s great that she is 39. She will be a better mother because of her age. When I reflect on my life during my 20’s and early 30’s I realize I was not mature enough to take care of myself much less a child. So kudos for Ellen. But really, what is the craze for babies in Hollywood. Angelina Jolie collects babies like she’s collecting trophies for her mantel. Thank God Madonna was not allowed to adopt. Madonna and Angelina, enough already.
