Isnt one of Johnny Depp’s films going straight to DVD. I mean it has a great cast like Colin Farrell, Heath Ledger, Jude Law etc. I think it maybe going to Cannes.
But didn’t you know? The haters will always be haters when Orlando was on a break THAT HE ANNOUNCED the haters said
that he was done that no one would hire him that he was an has been .
Now that their lies are proven wrong given that Orlando is doing movies and is being OFFERED different projects they are saying he is only doing straight to dvd movies .The haters can never make up their minds . First of all Sympathy for Delicious just got made and these new movie IS STILL BEING FILMED how can we know when and how they are being selled to studios and when will they be out .
And secon of all being the economy as it is a very few movies will be for large distribution and a lot will not be bought and will go straight to dvd no matter the names attached to them.
If he does big, blockbuster movies, the haters say that he is a sell out for not doing smaller films to work on his craft.
if he does smaller films to work on his craft, they say that he is a has-been for not doing big blockbusters.
The haters will always change the facts to suit their agenda.
And with Delphi becomeing a wasteland of 5-6 super-loons hanging on by their fingernails, they will become even more desperate to twist facts to suit them. All of the posters with half a brain don’t post there anymore. Even they got tired of the hypocrisy.
Orlando Bloom is a cutie - but he just doesn’t strike me as ‘officer material.’ To me he’s too effete to come across as a ‘manly’ and rugged police officer with much credibility (again, my opinion). I’ve always thought he should try some light sophisticated comedy, something similar to the stuff Hugh Grant, another rather ’soft’-around-the-edges’ British actor, is best known for. Let’s face it, “Mr. Masculinity” Orlando is not. For the most part I think he should leave the ‘tough guy’ heroics to those who fit that ‘character style’ better (e.g. the Clive Owens, Gerard Butlers and Daniel Craigs). But after seeing him in that little skit he did for “Extras,” I think light comedy/satire is something he should try his hand at again. He was charming and genuinely funny in that part.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but shouldn’t you at least see the movie before passing judgement?
He did just fine in ‘tough guy’ roles like Peter Drinkwater, Joe Bryne and Balian. Even Legolas was a badass. He may have been pretty, but Leggy was an assasin.
You can tell from the on-set pics that he has embraced the cop role. The way he is walking, his body carriage, etc. He just LOOKS like a cop. I’m willing to give him the benefit of a doubt, then make an INFORMED descision on how well he carries it off.
But I do agree that he was quite good in Extras. I would love to see him in a good comedy. But he isn’t nearly as foppish as Hugh. He is much more down to earth and physical, than Hugh. But I can see him doing same typ of roles that Hugh did, when he was younger. But Hugh just keeps playing the same roles. I don’t want that for Orlando.
Of course you’re entitled to your own opinion as well - but I really didn’t find him to be ‘ruggedly masculine’ in any of those roles. Exception: he was perfect as Legolas. There his character depended more on speed, agility and nimble dexterity rather than ‘mannish brute strength.’ And of course he had all those acutely-attuned (and far superior) ‘Elven senses’ to rely on as well. Yes, he was very credible as that character but IMO he would have been badly miscast as Aragorn, Boromir or Faramir - just as examples. Of course I’m willing to give him a chance in this latest film. It will certainly be interesting to see if he does carry it off.
There is a lot of grey area between “effete” and “ruggedly masculine”. ;)
Legolas had an almost feminine beauty, yet he was also obviously all male, and quite masculine. He just wasn’t a knuckle dragger.
I tend to favor the brave, strong yet elegant men, over the burly ‘macho’ types. Both are masculine, just different. I like lithe and athletic, over muscle bound.
Orlando was actually cast as Faramir, before they gave him the pointy ears. Faramir was strong, but no more burly than Legolas. He was just scruffier, and didn’t seem as ‘pretty’. But Faramir was also sensitive and conflicted. He wasn’t like his macho older brother (Boromir) at all. Put Will Turner in a Ranger’s cloak, and you have Faramir. A scuffy, brave, elegant hero.
To each his (her?) own. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things. :)
PS: The toughest, meanest police officer I know is 5′7″, and 155 lbs. He says that his advantage is always that people underestimate him because of his size. You don’t have to be a linebacker to be tough.
Orlando and Miranda are out in New York hope Jared has a thread about it soon so the loons can have meltdown lolololol.
Sorry but that “couple” are less and less and less and less interesting.
Yet you remain so interested that you come to this old thread just to comment on them.
LOL!
I know that you get lonely over at the ghost town that Delphi has become, but at least try to be a LITTLE original when you venture out.
He’s so beautiful. What movie is this?
@@21&22: I agree with your observation, but the change is from within-the soul that he is has settled for a mortal existence, his aura has diminished, and the energy which we all once saw light up the world is now channeled into a closed coupling, more fatherly than what even he may recognize. There is great goodness and purpose in him not yet brought forth, and the lives he has lived before this one must reawaken him from the walking sleep and reopen the eye of his soul before it is too late.
Yeah we know, he was a saint before he started dating that girl who nobody here knows at all and now he’s changed from saint to evol. We heard it many times, the only novelty is that now it’s been expressed with Zen master-ish speech.
