Jolie movie ‘Salt’ adds spice to commute

Officials had feared that closing chunks of Interstate 787 to film an Angelina Jolie movie would tie up traffic, but it was actually the curious who caused backups Thursday when they stopped to watch Jolie’s double perform stunts on a ramp above Madison Avenue.

Hooked to a harness, the high-flying double leaped from the top of a moving tanker truck as crews filmed a scene for “Salt,” an action-thriller in which Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a 1970s era CIA operative accused of being a double agent.

The stunt double could be seen jumping off the truck several times and then three times more as crew members threw it into gear and let it rumble partway down one of the closed highway ramps above downtown Albany. With each jump she dangled and swung out over the highway. Motorists stopped on Broadway and Madison Avenue below to lean out of their car windows for a closer look.

“Is Angelina here yet?” one man shouted.

Alas, she’s not. But she will be very soon.

Word came late Thursday that Jolie is expected to be in Albany on Sunday to shoot her parts of the scene. The confirmation was from a person familiar with the planning. There is no official word on whether Jolie will be here for any of the shoot, which is expected to last until May 4.

Still, most people were enthusiastic about Hollywood’s arrival to the area. “Yay, Albany!” exclaimed one woman who came by Madison to take a look. “We needed an oomph.”

Jon Zafra, who takes the I-787 throughout the day for work, said it could be an inconvenience to some, but the benefits outweigh the costs. “You’re asking a guy and if Angelina Jolie is there, it’s worth it,” he chuckled.

The latest Angelina Jolie movie “Salt” being filmed in Albany is expected to pump $3.5 million dollars into the city.

Local hotels are happy to hear it.

Todd Reichelt is the general manager of the Crown Plaza in downtown Albany. Earlier this week he encountered an unexpected surprise with the arrival of crews from the major motion picture.

“Pretty much unannounced - last minute they booked with us and it was a great surprise.”

Reichelt says it’s been a very tough year financially.

“It’s off… as compared to prior years… and obviously we’re down quite a bit.”

150 production crew members needing a place to stay over the next two weeks was a much welcomed change.

“Oh it was like a gift… It’s good for us it’s good for all the hotels downtown,” says Reichelt.

The film crews will be good for business all around.

“People are going to need to eat and drink and shop while they’re here in Albany County says Deb Goedeke, services Manager of the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Columbia Pictures is spreading the wealth by utilizing many local companies.

“They’re using union labor employees, sag employees, all locals here in the area… local catering companies, renting parking lots,” says Goedeke.

Goedeke says the closed roads. And traffic detours are well worth it in the long run.

“It will all work out for everybody.”

Summit launches four at Cannes including new Pattinson romance
Summit Entertainment is presenting four new titles to buyers at Cannes this year including two new Summit productions - a romantic drama starring Twilight sensation Robert Pattinson and a generational love story set in Italy starring Amanda Seyfried.

Pattinson is starring in Remember Me which is shooting this summer in New York while the actor is between Twilight sequels New Moon, which wraps at the end of May, and Eclipse, which starts in August.

Summit is also representing sales on two productions from Bill Pohlad’s River Road Entertainment – Doug Liman’s Fair Game featuring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts and The Runaways, a biopic of the 70s girl band starring Twilight’s Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.

Fair Game, which reunites Summit with Mr & Mrs Smith director Liman, is a true life drama about the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson after her husband Ambassador Joseph Wilson accused the US government of manipulating evidence to justify the invasion of Iraq. It starts shooting next week.

The Runaways is being directed by first timer Floria Sigismondi and produced by Art Linson. Dakota Fanning (who also has a role in New Moon) is scheduled to co-star alongside Stewart playing Runaways lead singer Cheri Currie.

Summit previously handled sales on River Road’s Tree Of Life directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt and Penn which opens at the end of this year.

Jan. to April 2004 Brad was shooting MMS, while Man was busy working and promoting the last seasons of “friends” . the two never visited each other on the set.
May 2004, Brad start promoting “Troy” all the over the world, Maniston visited him and stay with him in Europe for 2-3 week ?, and off she go start shooting RHI while Brad start shooting OC12 in Europe for another 2 months.
October 2004 Brad resume shooting MMS in Italy
Novermber to December 2004 Maniston was in London shooting Derail. ; While Brad went to South Africa.
Brad did visited his X in London on December for a few days which ended in a fight and the final divorce.
So actually, they were never together for almost 8 months in the year 2004. therefore, 60 months - 8 months = 52 months.
52 mon, well, Angie is almost there.

And so what if Brad is going somewhere? Him and Angie have lives and charities and other things to do that aren’t always in the city they are staying in. As an addition to your Rolling Stone article above, the subject of that “award winning” article sued Halperin for libel. The subject was the Athletic Director of Halperin’s college. Not long after the law suit was filed Halperin claimed that the subject’s son attacked him. The son claimed Halperin assaulted him first. That sounds like Halperin’s MO. He regularly claims his life has been threatened after he makes accusations and people start to attack his accusations and he is finally forced to prove his accusations.. I’d sure like to see the police reports he files each time his life is threatened. Or maybe he just forgets to file them. Or maybe he’s just brave.

Shortly after the claims of assault, Halperin and his buddy (also being sued) printed a “can’t we all be friends ” letter in the student newspaper addressed to the Athletic Dept. I guess he was trying to make the law suit go away or maybe he was just the Rodney King of Montreal.

Well, the libel law suit didn’t go away. Halperin had claimed in his article that he had “sources” for his information that defamed the Athletic Director with accusations of shady and possibly illegal acitivities. Halperin testifed about his sources. Guess what? The sources ( 3 athletes ) also testified that Halperin was lying and they were not his sources.

Following the libel case, Halperin was criminally charged with perjury. Guess what Halperin did then? He absconded. He fled. He went on the lam. He OJed it. After cleverly waiting almost 3 years to return to Canada to face his criminal charges guess what? The athletes were no longer available to the prosecution for trial. That’s what happens to students - they graduate and move away. Gee. Now they were who knows where. Thiis not being a murder or rape case I am sure the prosecution couldn’t waste resources finding these athletes and bringing them back for this trial. Wasn’t Halperin clever? He sure gamed those criminal charges. Because the students were no longer available to testify, the judge was forced to dismiss the perjury charge. Halperin is very lucky he is not now a convicted perjurer.

I would love to know the consequences for his bail jumping for all those years. I have read that he went to jail for that but I don’t know the details or if that is true. It does sound right though. Maybe I can get some tranny to confirm that for me. Actually there is a gossip blogger who dresses himself up as a tranny on his website that I’m sure could confirm the details - if anything he utters can be believed.

Excuse me, but the fact is, a child born out of wedlock has a name. I didn’t invent the name, it exists. By NATURAL, it references a child born to the parents, not children who were the natural children to other parents. The children THEY adopted are theirs, they adopted them. The children Jolie and Pitt had together are their NATURAL children and by laws, they were born out of wedlock and the B. word., sad but true, legally and morally applies to THREE of their children. I feel for ALL those children or any situation, they did not choose to be born to parents who would not marry one another.

Some of you say that Jolie and Pitt are married? Well, that would be excellent, I wish them well and that of their six children and perhaps more on the way? Historically when studies of “out of wedlock” pregnancy were measured before 1980, those studies ONLY measured unmarried women, not women who had actually GOTTEN pregnant BEFORE marriage and been forced to choose marriage by social convention. and certainly not women who were sent to “unwed mother homes” to have their babies in secret, to either be adopted by a family member, or agency arranged adoption. Unwed pregnancy was kept shameful and secret so few accurate statistics exist.

Add to that that only the relatively small sample size, (generally a number over 100 is considered to be a scientificly accepted “large sample”) and you can see that such numbers cannot be very accurately generalized to the world population.

(The same way that studies conducted on heart disease were generally performed on men until the 1990s and those results were generalized to women. Until it was revealed that scientists were working with only HALF the picture, and women indeed have much different progession of heart disease than men).

That being said, morality is a social construct that varies from culture to culture, religion to religion, country to country, for example the “one child policy” was put into effect in China in 1980 resulting in forced abortions, infanticide and exploitation of millions of female infants. While this was not officially sanctioned by the Chinese government, it was a well known and accepted practise. In recent polling 75% of the population stae that they support the “one child policy”.

Your argument that morality amongst children is the responsibility of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to set an example is invalid, in that, they cannot possibly address the moral constructs of every culture in the United States, much less the world.

Childrens’ morality is primarily due to how the parents conduct their lives in terms of role modeling and communication. An absent parent who refuses to address moral concerns with their child regularly is going to have a child that seeks guidence from peers. That has been a long establish fact supported by valid sudies.

“The affair” - You do not know that he had an affair. JA denied it as did those close to her. In fact JA and those close to her state that he was honest with her about his attraction for Angelina and the divorce was a mutual decision. You contradict that because……???

Children can be cruel - (again usually supported by the indifference or inatteniveness of their parents ) but the Jolie Pitt children will be accepted wherever they go, simply because of who their parents are.
there parents are responsible parents who are providing their children with experiences, education and exposure to many different cultures as well as TOLERANCE of differences, as opposed to caring about what YOU think they should care about.
