Clay Aiken emerges from the Byron & Tracey hair salon with a stylish new do on Saturday (April 25) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 30-year-old former American Idol contestant just shared an unreleased track called “Just You,” which was recorded around the time of his 2006 album A Thousand Different Ways. You don’t have to pay a penny for the track but Clay blogged, “I encourage you… I ask of you… that you make a donation to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation for how ever much you feel the song is worth. If you want to give $1… great. If you want to give $1000… GREAT… if you can only give $.05 … that’s fine too. It’s a tough time we’re living through nowadays.”

CLAY AIKEN - “HONOR SYSTEM” - 04/24/09
What an interesting afternoon! You have kept my attention longer than I thought possible. If only my homework in high school had held my attention as long, huh?
Lots of interesting questions today and lots of energy. One question in particular got me (and Jaymes) to thinking. “Clay, will you ever record … Just You?”
Well folks… truth is.. . I did. Long ago. As a matter of fact It was one of the first songs we recorded for the album A Thousand Different Ways. It was recorded before the label asked me to do the album of cover love songs and before the budget was officially approved, so I actually paid for it myself. Then, as I recall, when the decision was made to do the cover album, the label opened a budget for the album, but it did not include reimbursing me for songs I had recorded that did not fit the concept. So, here I have had this song all along that, to my knowledge, I own the only copy of. What to do with it.. what to do? Well, this evening (with some encouragement from Jaymes) I decided…. let’s just give it to them. Why not? We do have plans (which we will tell you about eventually) to be back in the studio and record in the near future, but until then… you might as well get a bit of something you haven’t been able to hear in a while. “New” music.
Now… here’s the deal. I want to give it to you because you deserve it. You’ve stuck by me and been patient for a long time. But, also, I really have to give it to you. Since I didn’t write it or produce it, I can’t sell it to you… but I hate to encourage getting music for free. You all have always been SOOOO ethical when it has come to downloading music. I know my fans are probably some of the most scrupulous in the country and I believe that you never steal music. That said… We are gonna do this on the “honor system”… Go ahead…. download the song. It’s yours. Share it with your friends. It’s free. But… I want to make it count for someone… so let’s make it count for tens of thousands of children in the US with developmental disabilities If you can’t afford anything for it.. then don’t pay… but… if you can… I encourage you… I ask of you… that you make a donation to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation for how ever much you feel the song is worth. If you want to give $1… great. If you want to give $1000… GREAT… if you can only give $.05 … that’s fine too. It’s a tough time we’re living through nowadays, and non-profits are hurting more than ever as well. BAF (which will soon be known by a different name) has had amazing success in fulfilling it’s mission, and is embarking on a long term plan to continue including kids in every aspect of life. But, it will continue to need help from all of us in order to make that possible.
Consider this track a “charity recording” …. donate whatever you can or whatever you are willing to… and accept our thanks.

Seems a nice thing to do for his fans. Haven’t heard anything from him lately. Downloaded the song & he’s definitely still got an awesome voice. What’s up with the people hating on him. If you don’t like him you don’t have to read about him. Why post ugly stuff. Just makes you look small.
I think clay is a wonderful human being. I feel sorry for people that come just to say bad things. I hope they can fill their heart with better feelings

The purpose of bullying is to hide inadequacy.
Most people bully because they are insecure and unhappy within their own lives. To put others down, in their sick way, builds them up. Misery loves company as the old saying goes. Did you ever notice they seem to travel in packs. Immaturity plays a big role.
Why don’t you handful of creeps who follow Clay Aiken all over the internet saying hateful mean spirited crap use YOUR time to raise some money for charity? I am going to donate again to prove your hate has just backfied.
@Lola: Good thing Clay learned how to handle bullies back in grade school. Clay has remained consistent in two things–helping children w/disabilities & appreciating his fans. The song is beautiful as is the man! I’m happy to support such a noble cause.
Love Clay, love the song, love the voice! Not only is Clay a GREAT SINGER, he is intelligent, articulate, caring and more. He was a Special Ed teacher before Idol and having worked for a school district, I can say that the special ed teachers I know personally are special people and Clay has that special quality also! They have to be to do the work they do!! As for the haters, the best way to deal with them is to ignore them. Clay fans, isn’t that what Clay has advised us to do? Bullying is a direct result of the insecurities of the bullies themselves! People who are happy with themselves don’t have reason to spend time cutting down other people. When you let the bullies (haters) affect your attitude in any way, it gives them dominion over you, which is exactly what they want! By ignoring them, you will allow yourself to spend time focusing on things that make you happy. Clay fans, does that sound familiar? Last, but not least, besides putting in much time with the Bubel/Aiken Foundation for children with disabilities, Clay is a Unicef Ambassador. Love you Clay!! You have so MUCH CLASS!!
I adore Clay, and I hate to see the Haters at every site that posts even a snippet about Clay. But I’ve finally figured it out to my satisfaction. I believe they are a core of PAID VIRAL MARKETERS. I don’t know who’s paying them to attempt to destroy Clay Aiken, or why….but surely they would not have kept this absurdity up for 6 years if there weren’t something monetary in it for them, would they? Surely, NO ONE
Clay is always thinking of others and doing such nice things - spending so much time answering questions from his fans, sharing this beautiful song, working for the inclusion of all children, among many other things. Clay’s haters are so predictable and pathetic. They troll the internet 24/7 posting crap about Clay. They are more obsessed than the claymates. LOL. Must suck to be them. Clay’s musical style is too AC for me but he has a great voice. Seems like a nice guy too.
Clay Aiken is a class act. His charity work is non-stop, most people just aren’t aware of that. His music is delightful too!

Hmmm, don’t know about that red sweater but a nice normal looking guy all the same. His words are kind and seem very well intended. I think Mr. Aiken has a good heart. It seems like most of these “entertainment” sites have people that simply enjoying putting others down. Every entertainer has fans and also those that do not enjoy their work. I just do not understand people being mean and vicious. Live and let live.

Thanks for the link to the charity ratings, Ginny. If you’d bother to read it, you’d see that the BAF has a very HIGH rating for EFFICIENCY & the only low rating comes from how much money they raise. Which means we should all be giving more to such an efficient, worthwhile charity! Kind of stuck your foot in your mouth, didn’t ya? :)
Ben, thank you for pointing that out. The Bubel/Aiken Foundation has always been praised for its ability to focus its funds on actual programs & grants rather than too much administrative or fundraising costs. IIRC, they only have 2 paid staffers, everyone else works voluntarily, including many of Clay’s fans. Yet they’ve been able to fund countless summer camps that are enjoyed by both disabled & abled children together, give grants to schools to hire teachers trained to work with disabled children in normal classroom settings & gift those who’ve achieved something special, like the autistic teen who made an award-winning film about his life or the grade-schooler who started a volunteer project where disabled kids were the workers rather than those being served. It takes a real lowlife to try to discourage people from donating to help disabled children. That would be you, Ginny - proud of yourself?

People should learn the facts about a subject they comment about. If you knew the subject here and what he does and stands for, you would not be saying these nasty remarks. Clay Aiken is a role model for a man who truly puts his money where his mouth is. He gives so much to so many people, not only with his music, but with his words and example. He inspires his fans to realize their own potential and do things in life that they never would have dreamed of doing on their own - such as, getting involved with charities, helping people whom they have never met, showing his total love and dedication to children with or without disabilities, etc. What other artist would have spent 8 hours on line with his fans answering questions from them, and then because he said we deserve it, surprised us by giving us this beautiful song - JUST YOU”. He is truly the MEASURE OF A MAN. That’s the name of one of his best songs and it fits him to a tee.
