Rachel Weisz - MET Costume Institute Gala 2009
Rachel Weisz tempers her confection of a dress with dark lipstick at the “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).
The 39-year-old British actress was outfitted by Vera Wang in a strapless, blush hand-painted tulle-draped gown.
“I feel like a punky princess,” Rachel said.

Rachel looks gorgeous.
Love it, love it, love it. Rachel truly redeems the evening.
Rachel just kicks butt with that dress. Its not only original but has flair and style, something sadly missing from most of the other celebrities who attended tonight.
i love the dress, minus the yellow organza underlayer…and i love rachel…hair looks like it’s gonna flop down in the heat, and she’s doing the lip plum berry tint…i think she wins for the night then. i’m not a fan of the make up but the dress is stellar. congrats to vera waaaanngg!
i think she’s wins hands down in the elegant department and yes, Rachel is the best dress of the night.
Jesus Christ, what a ghoul.
Rachel looks amazing. She saves the night with probably the simplest of accessories. Hats off to her, she saved this event.
Love the dress and everything in between. Rachel is the belle of the ball.
Much respect for Rachel Weisz and Vera Wang. They proved that at least someone has some taste. Congagulations to the both of them for bringing class to an otherwise classless Costume Institute Gala.
The whole Gala was a trainwreck but Rachel Weisz and a few others save it from falling off the cliff. Rachel looks spectacular.
Rachel looks so beautiful and her dress really takes my breath away. She really steals the night and saves it as well from becoming a celebrity fashion disaster.
With out a doubt, Rachel is the best dressed of the night
@Preachy:
I agree, Rachel brought class to an event that was did not deserve it. She brought down the house and puts the other tacky celebrities to shame.
Now that’s how a real woman should look. Rachel should be commended for her brillance.
She used to be so pretty, shame she’s getting old. The colors on her face are too harsh for her and the color of the dress is too young for her.
Rachel looks stunning, what a beautiful woman. She’s the highlight of the entire night.
She’s so beautiful, years ago I was in New Orleans visiting family and she was shooting a movie there with Dustin Hoffman and we all gathered around to watch them shooting a scene and afterwards, she came over to sign autographs. She’s pretty nice and Dustin was very nice as well. As for tonight, she proves once again to be a fashion force to be reckoned with.
Very classy yet edgy as well. Rachel looks beautiful and she takes the award for best dress of the night with ease.
I do not like this dress at all, personally, but that’s a matter of taste. The color is wrong for Rachel; it completely washes her out by almost blending in with her skin tone. A better choice, in my opinion, would have been seafoam green or midnight blue, with the under skirt and lining in a silver-gray or metallic silver color.
I just don’t like the color palette and combination of this gown. It’s very tricky to wear. A woman with dark skin color (i.e. African American or East Indian) could have pulled this off successfully. A pale skinned caucasian woman cannot.
I may be in the minority with my opinion, but that’s okay. Seafoam green or midnight blue would have been better choices for this evening gown in terms of a flattering color on Rachel. Just my opinion.
I do respect Vera Wang as a designer. As with Dolce & Gabbana, her name will forever be bigger than mine, and I doubt I’ll have her bank account anytime in the near future. However, as a costumer who has studied fashion design at FIDM and holds an AA degree in it, I do reserve the right to have my own opinions.

wow that make up
and the pale ness
Rachel looks great, not only the best dressed of the entire night but the most classy as well.
Elegant, sophisticated and soulful. Rachel delivers the goods and single handedly redeems an otherwise sucky night in fashion.
A+ all the way.
God, could the same person stop posting this b*tch compliments?
i love it, Rachel just makes this dress look magnificent. My gratitude goes to Rachel Weisz and Vera Wang for showing the world how you should dress for something like this.
While it’s not the best dress Rachel has had on at a event, it’s the best dress worn tonight by anybody.
the **** is that?
