Rachel Weisz - MET Costume Institute Gala 2009
Rachel Weisz tempers her confection of a dress with dark lipstick at the “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).
The 39-year-old British actress was outfitted by Vera Wang in a strapless, blush hand-painted tulle-draped gown.
“I feel like a punky princess,” Rachel said.

I LOVE her dress. She looks like a confection! Only thing that spoils ‘the look’ for me is that garish red lipstick. Doesn’t go. But really, such a beautiful woman.
Rachel works everything well enough for it to be bold and fashionable. I love the whole get up from top to bottom, lipstick to dress.
I like her dress a lot. Its a cut above most of what i saw that were at this gala ball last night. She ’s the most colorful and sophisticated of the night.
Rachel looks fierce, love it.
Rachel looks ravishing and the dress is great.
Hmm, I’m not a fan of any of this to be honest. I preferred Heidi Klum, Rihanna, Leighton Meester, Jessica Biel. Though it’s not quite a flop on par with jessica alba, Madonna or Blake Lively.
I really don’t get the Rachel Weisz fanclub either - I’m guessing it’s kind of the appeal that Jennifer Connelly has? Except that I much prefer Jennifer Connelly.
I think the dress is very elegant and Rachel just pulls it off masterfully. Bar none, its the best dress Ive seen for last night.
A marvellous actress, talented, beautiful, and more very clever !!!
yup. after seeing this again today i say she makes best dressed. the dress is fabulous even if the colour is really light. i don’t like pink but i think pale colour was in. i love the whole thing and the look, (the strong makeup (don’t really like the lip berry tint but it is in season) totally balances the yellow organza (that i don’t like) at the bottom. it grounds the outfit. i think like rihanna and lake bell and some others tonight oh the valentino cutour dress on schiffer, and rachel in wang did a good job last night.
@lise: I don’t think what you care about is really relevant at all in fact. Sounds like a personal problem to me.
I think Rachel pulled the whole thing off perfectly, she looks seriously cool. Love her as an actress as well, she’s one of the best.
nice concept, decent execution
Rachel Weisz looks beautiful, the dress is killer and i love everything about it. She’s a great fashion maven and a incredible actress.
she’s beautiful, but maybe the lipstick …
@Stan:
What I care about is as relevant as what everyone else cares about. I haven’t strayed any more from the topic at hand than any of the other posters (comparing her dress to the other dresses of the evening, and comparing her professional qualities to those of her contemporaries), I just carry a different opinion than most it seems.
To decide that I have a personal problem for sharing nothing but a difference of opinion on the same topics at hand is the only inappropriate remark. Stan ftl
