It’s Haute Couture people. I love the Tux, I love her hair and make-up, but not together. I think if the jacket were cut shorter or cut in a different style in the front (maybe 18th century-ish) it would work, but because the jacket is straight, it swallows her up.

i haven’t seen everything yet. i am going back on the pages looking to see if you have the victoria beckham dress, but really i would say out of all the people with the entire LOOK she’s the one who hit it. SHOW STOPPER. she got the strong shoulders, the poof, the v pants. yeah. the fabric not so much but the actual style of the entire look was good. My personal opinion (I hold an AA degree in fashion design), is that a full cut Leg O’ Mutton sleeve should be balanced by an overall tighter fit of the garment and general upper silhouette. The jacket has semi-feminine sleeves but a masculine cut, in my opinion. The flared cuffs on the ends are not working for me. The masculine racer gloves are too much. With all due respect to the House of Dolce & Gabbana, and full acknowledgment that their name and fashion designers are far bigger and more important than my name will ever be, I none the less do not like this look on Rihanna. She’s a very stunning and beautiful young woman. As a singer and an entertainer, I know she can handle high fashion, but I would personally put her in something more feminine.

The above sketch is my own, and it’s meant to be my own reinterpretation of what Dolce & Gabbana have designed. If the Leg O’ Mutton sleeves are going to be the focal point of the ‘look’ or of the garment, that’s fine. When the entire outfit becomes the focal point, it becomes too much and too strong, in my opinion.

There is nothing to be jealous of here. This is a triumph of bad styling over substance. The suit is edgy but does not work. Just because it’s different and expensive doesn’t mean it’s flattering.
This is the same Mickey Mouse ears look D&G tried in the fashion issue of British Elle. The models who wore it there didn’t look very good either.
Back to the drawing board for Rihanna’s stylist. He/she needs to find a beautiful creation that will make Rihanna stand out in a good way.

costume gala… i think overdressing or wearing something people wouldnt wear normally even to major events is at place for such a costume gala.

so the outfit is in my opinion good for such an event. sometimes you have to have the guts to try something different.

look at some catwalk events. dont you see models wearing outfits that are tooo crazy. but still they rock it. it suits such an event so therefore rihanna did great and was fierce and edgy all at once.

and still she manages to get draw attention to her pretty face.

Another thing, she did not have the fashion sense it was her stylist; and I guess she done pissed her off!!!

As someone mentioned before, it wasn’t a costume gala. It was held for the Costume Institute.
Rihanna would probably look cute in a tuxedo that was cut more flattering. This one is too bulky and looks like it could double as a life jacket.

^NO, it wasn’t a costume gala. As the title says, it was the MET Costume Institute Gala. It’s held every year by the MET Costume Institute. People don’t dress up in costumes for it. They wear designer gowns not silly Halloween-y outfits like Rihanna and Madonna.
