Miranda Kerr & Bar Refaeli - MET Models!
Supermodels Bar Refaeli (in Jil Sander) and Miranda Kerr party it up together at Monkey Bar for the Marc Jacobs Met Costume Gala after-party in New York City on Monday (May 4).
Miranda, 26, and Bar, 23, both walked the carpet without their respective actor boyfriends, Orlando Bloom and Leo DiCaprio.

She went to the Monkey bar for the AFTER PARTY, but actually she was not on the real party . LOL! She is so pathetic. I think that both girls look great. But I do like Miranda’s dress better. It is daring without being blatant. Bar’s dress is a bit too low in the front to achieve that same effect. Plus Miranda’s eye make up really accents those amazing baby blues. They are both amazing, though.

Metaphorically speaking, It appears that Ms. Aniston is straddling both sides of the un-cool and hipocritical fence. Bar look pure classy, loved her silver strapless dress and matching shoes. She looked so fresh faced and her makeup wasn’t to over done, everything about the look was very simple but elegant. Very clean and natural. :)

Your “modeling class” was wrong. Runway models are taught to walk with their toes pointed straight ahead. Print models are also taught this. It gives the body a better line, and gives the walk that extra emphasis needed for the runway. If you turn your toes out, it can look like you are rolling your ankles. Watch any runway show, and you won’t see any of the better girls turning their toes out. But they have had much more experience than “A modeling class”.
And I really didn’t see anything ‘edgy’ about Gisele’s dress. She looked great but a short, sequined cocktail dress can hardly be called “edgy”.

The modeling class wasnt IN high school….I was. It was taught over a period of about 4 weeks by a model that was signed with Ford Agency. Kate B became more well known for dating Orlando, and that is why she became famous, but she is famous now, and still getting acting jobs, modeling jobs, and party invites so I dont think its about Orlando anymore. 200-My “modeling class” was made fun of, even though it was a very legit class, and I got called a hypocrite and other things so Id say a little “touche” was in all fairness. This place has become famous for the defenders of the MK fanclub. I find it a bit weird myself, like they have something to lose if their favorite model gets tarnished. Why take it so personal so as to make personal low blows at others who think Miranda Kerr is ridiculous? Just in some of the comments I have read in this thread, people here are very quick to start throwing insults at those who dont like Miranda, instantly thinking they are part of some group that post insults over and over again trying to be different people. In my office we discuss fashion and trust me, Miranda Kerr is thought to kinda be a joke when she shows up at these parties. The only thing she has ever done in America is Victorias Secret. Neither Bar or Miranda is iconic where they are right now. Kate Moss, setting her personal mess aside, is iconic. Generations know her, she has graced so many ads mags and runways. She is known internationally, and even prior to her personal mess that started being made public a few years ago, most women already knew her name and what she represents that year. To call girls like Miranda, and yes even Bar supermodels is an insult to real supermodels.

Will she ever get the coveted SI invite? Will she ever get a real campaign outside of her jumping off campaign to represent? Good on her that she has a gig back home, but again, that does not make her an international hit and popular like some of her peers. I’m not going to spend valuable time criticizing her. I personally find her an attractive woman and think she has a lovely face from some angles, and beautiful legs. I do think she needs to work on her poses and that her knees and toes should NOT be pointed inward. That stance is awkward and ‘coltish’ rather than poised or elegant, but she can work on her poses.
The cocktail dress does not work for me. I made a sketch reworking the design of it , but I’m not going to post it. Ideas are worth money. I did that once on Rihanna’s Met Ball thread, but I’m drawing a line right there. Miranda can do better. She just needs to hire a good stylist with a good eye, and she’ll be fine. The main problem I have with her dress is that it’s showing too much skin and does not have a main focal point. It would also look better if it were longer - a full length evening gown, rather than a cocktail dress.
I’m posting a YouTube video showcasing some of my own modeling shots from years ago, but I will remind anyone who takes the time to watch this video that while I’m proud of my efforts and exploration of modeling, it never became a professional job for me, unlike Miranda, who is working and earning a living at it. It’s easy to judge and criticize, but many of us who are judging her are NOT earning her wages or having her career.
She’s working and has made a name for herself as a model. I respect that. I do consider my ability to move and pose in front of a camera better than hers, but she is the one who’s working and making good money doing what she does. My calling has remained within the areas of costuming, fashion design, computers and technology. That’s where the money has been for me, and that’s where I have always been called upon to work.
The photos in this video slide show were taken 1992-1994. By that time, I was 24-25 and would have been considered finished and washed up for certain types of modeling, which is why modeling agencies want their girls very young (13-14 years old) because they must be moved to another market and must have made a name and good money for themselves by the time they’re 25 or so. There is a 10 year window for some types of modeling.
General catalog modeling does not have such strong requirements, from what I understand. We can see many types of models in catalogs. High fashion and runway are another story.

Im going to have a say, and this is coming from a person that doesn’t like Miranda, im sure as hell not a fan of hers. But…From my standards of her and modeling is that she is a well known model, yes. She is well kown enough to have some fans from different countries that know of her. To me and from what I see/read of her she is a well known model but not a famous supermodel, like what the Aussie papers and her PR team claim her to be.
I mean she does get mentions and threads on gossip blogs and some websites and she does have a few pics of her in a fashion mag for some ad every once in a while, but I don’t think she anything like Kate Moss or Gisele. She is just a model nothing more. I think she wouldn’t be getting as much attention as she is now if she wasn’t dating Orlando. So I do believe that OB has gotten her more attention from people. I never heard of her or known of her before she was linked to him and I think this goes for a lot of people too. Before him she was just another up and coming model trying to make it like the rest of them.

So in a way his name didnt help her get any good modeling gigs, but Im sure the name did help her get with DJ. And DJ seems more than thrilled to use his name whenever they have a article with MK. I also dont think she works 6 days a week and 2 different countries either, she only works for DJ and VS, sometimes she will do a runway in Spain but thats about it. I think she probably did used to work that much back in 2006 or 2007 when she was doing all these runways shows and she used to do a few commercials for Portmans so back then I think she was working much more then now. when someone dates a celebrity, their name is more known. That’s normal. But those 3.5 million mentioned by Forbes, she earns with her work.
I know she gets paid millions for her VS work at least, not sure about DJ though, they have mentioned her salary and it wasn’t millions. That happens with a lot of Angels they get paid a lot of money like that. She earns with her work but she also doesn’t work that much. I think she did about 44 runways back in 2006 and did a lot of catalogue work for VS and Portmans commercials.
I’m sure that all adds up for her. But when was the last time she has worked that much, its been a couple of years now. I think its slowing down for her work wise for whatever reason it maybe. What my point was in my other post was that she is well known but not a supermodel. Even with the ‘3.5 million’ she is making now isn’t helping her get any other good work, like something higher in fashion and working with a famous designer.
She still isn’t as famous as other models but she is well known. If only the 3.5 million she made can help her become a supermodel, but its not like that. She needs more work and do higher fashion work but she isn’t.

Bar’s dress was cut way too small across the chest. She was spilling out the top. Very dodgy. And as short as it was, it could never be called classy.
Doutzen’s dress was also waaaay too short, and cut way too low.

Miranda was the only one who showed skin, and still looked fashionable. The Costume institute gala is supposed to be fashion forward, not safe. She took a risk wearing that dress, and it looks great. It would have looked trashy on a more voluptuous woman, but on her, it worked. A lot of people on fashion blogs have praised her, and a lot have trashed her. But that differeing opinion is what makes fashion interesting.
And for what it’s worth. I don’t think that Bar is versatile at all. IMO, her face isn’t that pretty, she has very small eyes, and she is too busty for high fashion. SI is nothing to brag about as far as ‘fashion’. Their Swimsuit edition is nothing more than a glorified men’s magazine. The girls featured are there because of their bodies, not their fame or talent on the catwalk.
In fact, SI was another example of hater hypocrisy. Before the last issue, they were speculating as to whether Miranda was going to take part. They talked about how trashy it was, and how it dehumanized women, and that it would be just something that she would do. He is in Cannes to promote his upcoming movies. In other words, he’s there for WORK, and you are trying to twist things around to suit your agenda. Paps are swarming Cannes, right now, is he supposed to hide in his hotel suite? One of the owners for that yacht is mega-producer David Geffen. Should he expect David Geffen to leave his yacht and come to him for a meeting? Sure, that word work!
You haters are such hypocrites, if we hadn’t got pictures you would be saying that he seemed to be hiding and was shirking his duty to get out and be seen to advertise for his films.
And what if Miranda shows up? Why SHOULDN’T he be allowed to take his girlfriend with him? Lots of other stars take their significant others. Why should he be lonely in one of the most beautiful towns in the world? If you don’t like seeing pics, don’t look. Simple isn’t it?

Aren’t models actually told what to wear by designers, based on the way they look , as well as how to walk, stand, pose, etc…. almost like an actor, except without the speaking part.
And they say the silent film industry is dead.
But that is after they actually got the job, not when they are going in for an interview, or asking them to help them out with one of their up coming projects. Which is what Cannes Film Festival is for, finding distributors, and people with money to back a project you are working on.

I don’t WORSHIP anybody! But yes, it’s true that i admire some actors/models for who they are and what they’ve done so far in their careers. At least the actors/models i admire are as good as it gets.
