Chad Michael Murray Axed From One Tree Hill
Costars Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, who tied the knot during last night’s episode of One Tree Hill, will not be returning for the show’s seventh season, EW confirms.
Translation: The CW could not afford to keep newlyweds Peyton and Lucas on their payroll.
Two new characters will be introduced next season and Jake Gyllenhaal’s BFF Austin Nichols (Julian) will become a series regular.

Season 7 will be a fat failure. Thank god Chad and Hil are leaving, they are the only reason keeping me watching and with them gone i can finally let this show go!

I don’t know how the show will do without them. I will still watch. I’m a OTH fan and Sophia Bush is my obession. I’m hoping that Brooke and Julian will be the couple and that there will be more air time with Nathan and Haley together. Also I believe there will be two more character hitting the scene. I’m hoping Sam will be back (but there is major doubt) or Rachel. That would be pretty interesting.

I hope season 7 is a total flop and the cancel the show… Season 6 should have been the last season…

Ok so when the show premiered it was suppose to unite two brothers together, two brothers who did not get a long and were believed to never get along. But Lucas and Nathan beat the odds and both turned against the man (their father) who was not much of a father. And now you kick off one of the main stars from the show. Honestly this is going to canceled there is no point to bring back Peyton anyway; she in my opinion has had to much camera time and just honestly needs to be killed off. Chad Michael Murray brought new things to the television world and i am saddened by him getting the boot on one tree hill. The show in my opinion is dead, as soon as they broke up Lucas and Brooke and basically flipped the fans the bird and told them that they had no shot of getting back together ratings dropped, and i mean dropped. The show is failing miserably i would rather put myself through hours of watching the reruns then ever watching the new stuff by Marc. Its a disgrace in my opinion that neither party could compromise and either work out a smaller pay deal or find a way to ask the CW for more money so they could have back one of the two characters. I was at one time a huge Brucas supporter and in my head of fairytale’s they will live on. Sad to say it but One Tree Hill has lost another fan with this news.
One Tree Hill isn’t exactly a big-budget show, they don’t have tons of money. Weren’t all these months of contract negotiations because Chad and Hilarie wanted more money and the show couldn’t afford it? Sorry, but Chad is most famous for cheating on Sophia and hooking up with a 17-year-old shortly thereafter, and Hilarie isn’t exactly a big name in Hollywood either. Did they seriously think they could demand more money? I’m pretty indifferent to the actors, but I can’t stand Lucas and Peyton, so I am looking forward to watching One Tree Hill without them.
And Lucas and Peyton are not the entire premise of the show; the show originally was about Lucas and Nathan’s relationship and basketball.
i have been watching OTH since the start and the reason i start watching was because of Chad, it is going to suck with him gone but i feel that they still have some great stories left to tell with the rest of the cast and will be able to tie up the show with this season. I don’t think they FIRED Chad or Hilarie, the talks to bring them back just didn’t go in fave for them to come back.
Why don’t they get rid of Nathan, I never like that character from day 1!
no way! i sooo wish i hadn’t read this post, i’m a OTH newbie, just finised season 4 lol that sucks Peyton is my favourite character and Lucas is pretty nice to look at =] at least i know ive got 2 more seasons to look forward to =/
NOO it’s sad, i love LP, but i def love miss the chemistry Hil and Chad have with the other characters.. no more HP/ BP/ LH/NP/ LN scenes [bwah]. i really dont think the show would do that well, its a good idea to have austin nichols there, but its not the same.
I obsessed with Brucas and stopped watching after season 4. I couldn’t stand a minute of cheesy Leyton! Now that they both leaving the show, I will watch again to root for Brooke finding her happiness.

This is crazy.. OTH is Lucas & Peyton.. aaaah Can’t believe this. Sucks!! Now OTH will never be the same. They will need extreme scripts for the new season.. yikes. But I’m happy Julian will be permanent. That’s a plus. I wonder who will be added on…??? geez
There’s no OTH without Leyton. It’s simple as that.

They should just cancel the whole thing. That would be better.
i cannot picture the show without chad and hilarie on the show! i could care less about hilarie, but chad!?:( i LOVE him! he is the only reason why i watched the pilot in the first place! i mean i love haley and brooke as well, but it is not going to be the same w/out chad! i think he is the one who made the show what it is 2day!

Right on Janine! I stopped watching after CMM and Sofia divorced because I knew there would be no more Brucas. Brooke and Lucas are my favorite couple on the show and it’s sickening how Mark tried to rewrite history as if seasons 2 and 3 never happened.
If we can’t have Brucas, I’m glad Leyton is leaving. I makes me wanted to watch the show again!!!

As for the affect Leyton’s departure will have on the other characters, here’s what I posted on EW:
“For all those people saying what will Brooke do without Peyton, considering the following:
Brooke spent 4 years in NYC without Peyton and built a MULTI-MILLION dollar fashion empire.
Peyton was okay with stealing Lucas, the love of Brooke’s life, away from her TWICE.
Brooke will be GREAT without Peyton. Also, Peyton has not been a good friend to Brooke.”
They will be missed but Mark Schwahn knows what he is doing. He will adjust and the others will carry on.
