Chad Michael Murray Axed From One Tree Hill
Costars Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, who tied the knot during last night’s episode of One Tree Hill, will not be returning for the show’s seventh season, EW confirms.
Translation: The CW could not afford to keep newlyweds Peyton and Lucas on their payroll.
Two new characters will be introduced next season and Jake Gyllenhaal’s BFF Austin Nichols (Julian) will become a series regular.

They were done their archs anyway. The characters were dragging the show down. Everyone watches for Brooke and Naley anyway.

Chad was always telling fans how much he wanted to leave OTH and now he finally got his wish. So many fans who’ve met him will tell you how much he would say how he wanted to leave the show and wanted Lucas to be killed off. That fan video he made where he basically blamed the CW for his departure was nothing but a lie. He just doesn’t want fans to blame him for leaving so he decided to blame the network instead. Any one who fell for that video needs help because he was so clearly lying.
Like others have said, he was only willing to stay if the CW gave him large chunks of money. He was being selfish and greedy.
And Hilarie lost her job thanks to him too.
Hilarie lost her own job. She could have accepted their offer. All the cast got a raise to return. She thought she was worth more than the others just like Chad I guess their game didn’t end the way they though *** would. Looking forward to see who comes to join the cast. Austin is so hot I hope the others are like him too. I won’t miss either one of those two, CH.

It is the most rediculos thing to cut off 2 of the main characters in a show that has been running for ages! we have seen peyton and luke’s relationship through everything and it is such a cop out to just kill them, just stop the freggin show already! they should know how many viewers they will lose if the kill peyton and luke!

wow, this sucks…Lucas and Peyton have always been my favourite characters…I hope the news that they are leaving isnt true…
the addition of Julian into the storyline made the plot much more intense and the story much better, that is with Lucas and Peyton still as main characters…but without them I really dont see how this show can continue

They were the only two worth watching well and except for Joy too because she deserves more than what OTH writers give her. As much as people want to believe that Sophia, and the rest of the cast can hold it’s own. It’s just not happening. You got rid of two main characters that many enjoy to watch, so expect to be cancel next season!

I’m glad I’m done with this show after next week. I, for one will not be tuning in for season 7. I don’t think I wan’t to watch more on Saint Brooke being shoved down my throat!

Actually really happy about this… Peyton and Lucas were my least favorite couple- I really could care less for Peyton and was hoping she’d be gone a long time ago… the show will continue in a new direction, and it’ll be great. Peyton and Lucas were never “the” main characters anyway.
Besides, bringing Austin Nichols on full time? AWESOME decision!

Then there is Mouth/Milli…Chase/Mia epic love story….they are the new NH and LP…..Julian well he is just going to be the guy Brooke is going to have on leash. Then you have to add in the two new characters which probabaly take up more screentime than Haley. Yeah have fun in s7 with that ****!

The writing is horrible, you guys are way more talented than this show will ever let you experience. Good luck with everything in life. Whatever new projects you guys do I will follow. Everyone who is hating which is no alot of fans because people seem to think OTH is popular LMFAO it’s not. OTH only ranks in 2.23 mil average…ummm yeah that number is totally awesome (saracism), just think next year it will be even more lower LOL.
