@CA: Sure. Who are they? Overinvested fans who thought they were his girlfriends? Alledged hookups who went for a one time date? What is it that was expected of Aiken that he owed these people? He said he wasn’t gay and he turned out to be gay. Big friggin’ deal!
@goodgrief: Well, if he wanted to TELL the fans…all he had to do was answer the question in the first place. See, he talks out both sides of his mouth. ‘What I do in my private life is private’…yet he tries to send friggen hidden messages in interviews so we’ll get it?? Ummm no…just say it , damn it. Don’t try to have it both ways. For me it isn’t that he’s gay that upset me…it was the fact he couldn’t be truthful w/ his fans about it. Couldn’t trust us to understand. He could share w/ everyone else, but not his fans? The ones who came to his defense when every time he was dragged through the mud? Please give me a break. For those who are still die hards, good for you. But give those of us who may still harbor some anger that right and the right to express it here. Whether you think it sounds deranged or not.
Who says he was trying to send hidden messages??? That’s on the reader, for Pete’s sake. If the man said leave his private life alone I don’t see any kind of hidden message in that. As to letting the fans know, why is it any of their business? His family, his associates maybe, his lover, natch, those IN.HIS.LIFE. The fans are not IN.HIS.PRIVATE.LIFE. They are fans and when they purchase a cd, they get a cd; they purchase a concert ticket and attend, they get a show (and I have never heard of him not giving 100% at his), if they give to a charity he supports, they should be giving because of the CAUSE and their support of it…if they give because of HIM, it’s on them, again. If they renege or stop giving because they are angry with him, that’s pitiful. A cause is a stand alone issue.
Anyway, this subject comes up everytime this guy is mentioned anywhere; for gawd’s sake you pissed off people, either get over it or move on…it’s healthier. Those that just don’t care for the man’s voice, music, whatever…that’s different. Not everyone likes everyone. It’s allowed. But to harangue because you feel personally slighted? Get.a.clue. AND a life.

Not a problem with the free speech thing; have at it. Just remember Clay is out there, is known, is identified; you however, get to sit behind a screen a spiel stuff anonymously, interestingly enough, PRIVATELY, in your PRIVATE home, in your PRIVATE life, and NO ONE can identify you and demand you share every little thing in your life, because, after all, that is the requirement apparently. Cool.
Spiel away. I imagine Clay could give a damn, or at least is mature enough to let it roll off and realize it for what it is…sadness personified.

Well. I see the word got out on the clay sites and now his fans are here once again to defend him….as usual!
The same ones that invade clays personal space so much that they went to his boyfriends facebook and became his friend. They have their noses stuck into every aspect of clay’s life…..and some people on here were told THEY have a problem?? THEY just don’t get the fact they have pretty much destroyed his career. They don’t get it and never will because its all about them. They have done more damage than help.
Being gay isn’t the problem with clay……Most knew it anyway, so no big shock there.
I really take exception to reading that clay used Mother Theresa in his blog. How disgusting!

I don’t actually care what you are saying as it doesn’t affect me; I made the mistake of trying to have a mature/adult thoughtful discussion of the reasons, in an unreasonable situation, apparently, someone would continue to hammer away at something that made them emotionally upset. Des - the reaction that the Clay fans are having right here on this site is exactly what I am talking about. It’s overinvestment in a celebrity to the point where they attack anyone who says something they don’t like about Clay. The charges of jealousy, bitterness, etc are pretty typical of the Claymate mantra.
You say it was a few of them but I belonged to the Clayboard and it was more than a few of them to the point where they ran off the more moderate fans and all that was left were the lunatics.

They have run off more than just a few fans on the CB. NO-ONE ‘anywhere’ can say anything bad about Clay..or….you are told you are jealous or you are too invested and mad because Clay did not talk to you, …the list is endless. Do they not realize that THEY are the ones that have stopped him from getting new fans? Or run off other fans?? Do they care? They have tried to shove him down everyones throat every place they go. Asking how they like him to the point that at the first Spamalot when his last CD was released, they were so sure that all these people they talked to would buy it. Well, we know how that turned out.
Clay is out and Proud. He looks happier than I have seen him in awhile. (good for him)…but…..doesn’t he have better clothes he could have worn at the D.F. and Friends get together? Most men had suits on, he had jeans that was so baggy in the knees and he looked bad compared to the others.
@CA: So, who might those be? You are trying to say you know him, and I say BS, and since you have no idea who I am, you can’t even say that I don’t.

Not to the public but to his friends and associates. A lot of gay men do that before they fully come out as gay–Elton John claimed he was bi-sexual and married a woman before he came out as gay. George Michael, Lance Bass they were with women, too. Clay didn’t need to go into any of those explanations when he came out and he shouldn’t have to. If the fans don’t want to accept it and him, then they need to move on and let it go.
The unidentified guy is Brody Jenner… David Foster’s Stepson and Bruce Jenner’s Son. He lives with David so he’d be around when David’s sister and Clay visited. Nothing more.
I won’t bother reading all the comments before this because I can see the usual haters are here. I just wanted to thank the folks here at JJ for these fantastic pics of Clay. He just keeps getting better looking as he gets older.
As someone who is far from perfect, I don’t bother to criticize every mistake or lapse in judgement by celebrities. It’s isn’t up to me to critique their lives. I love Clay’s voice and his heart.

I love Clays voice and his heart, and cant believe all the haters. Half of Hollywood and AI are still hiding in closets, and deceiving everyone. Yet Clay gets all the backlash. Very amusing. and pathetic.
Haters don’t get tired, they get paid. This is their job.
Clay made his own choices and deserves the backlash resultant.
Perhaps someday he’ll resurrect his former singing career-he is gifted in that arena.
