Emile Hirsch Skateboards His Way To Cannes
Emile Hirsch goes for a skateboard ride with comedian pal Demetri Martin in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (May 14).
The 24-year-old actor is headed to the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, where his latest film Taking Woodstock will premiere. The comedy-drama is about the Woodstock Festival of 1969. It is directed by Ang Lee and based on the autobiography Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life by Elliot Tiber and Tom Monte. Emile plays Billy, a recently returned Vietnam vet.

Hope it does better than Speed Racer. Even I was embarrassed for him. It was hard for him to promote the movie overseas after it bombed in the U.S., I’m sure.
He’s horribly ugly with scruff and long hair. Yuck!

And, that Emile would friend him is no surprise. Emile always friends people with whom he films and works. He’s just like that. Both men appeal to smart folks usually. Emile is well read. Demetri is no slouch.

I’ll definately be checking out Taking Woodstock, because he was AMAZING in Milk and Into The Wild.

Emile’s agent (at that time) was keen for him to become an A-list star. SHE was they key to his taking the part, of Speed Racer.
She wanted another (yet another) A-lister in her roster.
When the film flopped, dismally, then Emile took cover and his former agent, who he had been with for a few years (which is an eternity in Hollywood) got given the boot, simple as that ;)

i think he’s a lil scruffy lookin, but he’s great in movies. yeah the speedracer thing was kinda a bomb, i guess the special effects did it for me but other than that he was great in Into The Wild and Milk and a few other movies. He is cute tho!
He kinda reminds me of Heath Ledger in these pictures…this scruffy look is much better for him than his normal looks
