Hilarie Burton spoke to EW about Monday’s season finale of One Tree Hill (her and Chad Michael Murray’s last episode). Here’s a snippet of the interview:
Have you spoken to Chad recently? I was in L.A. last week and we talked. Chad and I are good friends. I won’t speak for him, but it was not a rash decision on either of our parts. He’s very compassionate toward the show and the fans. It’s not an easy decision, but we’ve got to be grown-ups sometimes. [CMM's rep declined an interview request, saying, "Chad is no longer on the show and has no comment regarding the new season."]
What was your last day on the set like? We wrapped together. We were the last two in the last scene, and we opened up a tab across the street for our crew to say thank you and cried a bunch.
The OTH season finale (”Remember Me As a Time of Day”) airs on Monday, May 18 @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

I’m a Sophia fan… so as long as she’s still on the show with James and Bethany I could seriously care less… I know it pretty much is all about Lucas or whatev… but I seriously hate both of them ahha…. I think it will be better next season without them :):)
i for one glad both of them are done with this show so i can be done with this show. wish the best of luck for both chad and hil, especially for hil. i like her and she will do great things in her life and career. i always admire her for being classy. i only became a fan of her last season of oth but from reading this i will be forever a fan of her. shes a great actress and hope to see her more on big screen. i will definitely support her production compnay.

OTH without Chad is kinda sad since Lucas is the most important character am going to miss his quotes. But the show must go on and I’ll be tuning in to watch.
I always hated her character, from the very beginning! I loved Brucas but now that there’s no Brucas, Leyton was just too cheesy. Glad they are no longer on the show.

One Tree Hill will still be amazing, they’ve got Sophia, James, Joy, Austin, and three new characters coming on, so I’m still watching :)
It’s kinda sad,.. I mean. I’m a huge fan of NALEY (Thank God it’s not them..lol). but I also like Letyon,.. I’m gonna miss them,… I’m gonna miss LALEY scenes and Peyton and Haley scenes… :( :( :( … Marsha’s right, the Show must go on… I’m Happy we have Season 7 and hopefully season 8, 9 , 10…………………!!!! OTH and NALEY ROCKS!!!

Although I love OTH i do agree that the Leyton storyline was nearing a end anyway. Sophia’s storyline has been taking centre stage lately, which is great since before that it was mostly Leyton. Looking forward to the next season OTH can survive, they always have remember when SUNKIST was supporting just to get them through season 3.

Sausage legs Sophia sucks her voice is annoying as hell. It’s all raspy and just irritating as hell. Joy is the only one worth watching on this god forsaken show. James is like a piece of cardboard. Yeah this show just sucks all around along with it’s cast except for Joy. Now there are new co-stars Sophia can hook up with that I am sure to read on JJ. Hasn’t she slept with most of the guys on OTH anyways? Austin,Chad,James…..I wonder who is next?

Pfft. The only reason Hil did this interview is to smooth things over for the show because of all of the rumors on the net about why she and Chad are gone. OK so two wild fans got tattoos. The funny part to me is they had to post about it. I only remember that Eric guy because his was huge and unusual. Well they were proud of their choice so good for them. I don’t recall any negative remarks about the cast from Eric. I think he liked everyone especially Hil.
well these were like 2 most meaningful characters in the show, and the show will never be the same again. and for those of you who can’t remember brooke davis, she has slept with all of her male friends except for mouth and skills - LOL- and even in real life she has slept with about 3 co-stars from the OTH set itself, so back to the show i wonder how it the show will go on with “brooke davis” and naley+jamie are the only ones to give the show a little bit of greatness
I think the new characters will give freshness to the show. Mark will not let his show fail. He has proved himself to be quiet the fighter. This show was getting every season but he imagined to save it time and time again. I bet he is very motivated now as well.

I might be an LP fan and my couple is together and for that I am happy, but not because the writing is so fantastic in fact it’s the complete opposite give or take a few, and I do mean a FEW epis. this season. I CAN stand to watch this show every week meaning LP is because the way Chad and Hil portrary the characters. Besides we LP fans knew where there storyline was heading so of course we were going to watch…Do you think we love every epi. HELL NO. But we love the actor/actress and support them so we come back. The writing has been weak for quiet some time now, and it is clear as day that Mark and co. that have no real clue what the hell they are doing sometimes..this show is full of inconsistancy and so not about the core 5 anymore.. For starters, it’s a FACT that LP fans are the ones who are claiming that the show sucks now. As a member of both othforums and FF, I can honestly tell you that I’ve seen an endless number of posts made by LP fans on those sites where they but bash the show, the writers, the network, and Mark now. And they’ve been doing it ever since word got out that Chad wasn’t coming back and that Hilarie wasn’t either. So seeing as how that meant no LP in season 7, MANY of them started saying shitt like how the show sucked that how bad the writing was. And the funny part was that up until news spread online how neither CH were coming back a few months ago, these exact same idiots were jumping for joy because LP were together on the show and praised OTH.
And then these same people have the nerve do a complete 180 and start bashing the show just because CH decided they no longer want to be a part of OTH. And just because you’re an LP fans and you supposedly never claimed that the show sucks now, doesn’t mean that other LP fans haven’t done it either. So don’t bother talking on there behalf because their words and actions have just proved in the last few months what big hypocrites that all are.
I’m definitely not a LP fan but I do somewhat agree that the writing sucks sometimes. However, I’ve never done what a lot of LP fans have been saying and doing lately. It’s hilarious that OTH is a “crap show” to almost all the LPers now that Chad and Hilarie are leaving. It wasn’t crap when they all were watching with rapt attention. I know this because I know so many people on FF who claimed to love the show and then started bashing the writers the second CH decided to leave. Its not the writers fault that they wanted to leave. Whats going on with Hilarie and Ian? I’ve heard so many people say that she broke up with him and broke his heart. I’ve seen her around Wilmy with this rocker looking guy so many times when I usually go to visit my aunt. They’re usually holding hands which means Ian is now out of the picture. It’s not only the LP fans complaining the show will suck. The whole show was BASED on 2 brothers. In fact in France the show is called “The Scott Brothers”. So by taking one away what does that leave you with? LP is a pivotal part of the show. So many friendship where based with them. Just look at it objectively; with all personal bias aside; no matter whom you ship. So much friendship will be lost. LH, BL, LN, PH, PB, PN. The show will not be the same again. It will not be the show that many fans fell in love with. I have spoken to many people who don’t ship LP, that have said they won’t watch because so much will be missing. The spark, the magic, the interaction between the core five. It just will not be the same again. I believe the effect will have been minimal if only one of the Core left, but 2 core members are leaving too much will be missing. There’s going to be such a void on the show, that no matter how hard Mark tries to fill, it just won’t be enough.
There are a few posters bashing the cast members. It seems they are trying to more vulgar than the other. So immature and nasty. It is obvious what is going on with this rude comments.

I’m sorry i am not an LP fan BUT not everyone thinks the show will be better watching Brooke/Julian, Nathan/Haley/Jamie and other random people when you are missing the other important staples of the show such as bestfriends LH /PB/ PH,brotherly talks. NH..Heck there will be no more Dan Scott/Nathan/Lucas interactions either. Honestly this show is killing there own REAL storyline (VISION) by moving on without the main character and another main character. They should have ended it this season. It seems everything is season 6 is all coming to a closer sort of like a series finale.

I’m too, a regular at FF & OTHforums, and I think there is a general consensus amongst the fans, regardless of who you ship that this season writing has been the most weakest, not just LP fans. & this has been said WAY before leaked news of CH leaving.
I am above all, a viewer of the show. One which enjoys all relationships on the show not just my favourite, LP. Yes, LP are together now, but the writing has been crap, not only for this couple but for every other character on the show. I mean, we got Nathans comeback number 98744820, Brook’s men problems number 108645275. There have been useless storylines with no real outcome or had any impact on the characters lives, such as the Lucas’ movie that failed, Peyton’s biological dad, Peyton’s car crash. Nathan and Hayley hardly EVER get a proper meaningful scenes together, Hayley hardly got a storyline this year & Brooke & Lucas haven’t had a scene in god knows how long,
Furthermore, secondary characters have been hogging all the screen time. Those who are supposed to be SUPPORTING the core five, get their own storyline. Look at Mouth & Millie. On again off again took up half of the season. & yes, it will now become a crap show to me, not because LP have left, but because of what will go with it.
Of course it’s not the writer’s fault that CH decided to leave. But it was definitely the right time to end the show, on a high. How many more stories has Mark left to tell? More crazy stalkers, a few more love triangles, another comeback? All recycled crap! It would have been a perfect way to end, to what has been a six year run of a good show.
Some of the Sophia fans on here make it embarrassing to be a fan of her’s.
