Cynthia Nixon: Wedding In The Works
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is set to marry girlfriend of six years, education activist Christine Marinoni.
The 43-year-old actress tells Extra, “My girlfriend and I got engaged last month. We’re hoping to do it in New York. We’re not going to wait forever, but we’re hoping it’s just around the corner…Sometime I think before the end of next summer, but we don’t have a date.”
Cynthia has an engagement ring but also reveals her fiancee chose not to have one: “[Christine] did not get a ring. She will have a wedding ring but she does not want an engagement ring.”
The sequel to the movie Sex and the City will “start shooting sometime in August.”

ah congrats to them, they make a really nice couple
i agree w/ #1 i’m glad gay marriage is becoming more excepted. congrats!
Give me a break. This is so wrong.
congratulations! :-)
Congratulations!!
I just threw up at looking at this ugly couple!
These are two lesbians, they aren’t “engaged” they can’t “get married” and they can’t have children together.
They are two women living together.
To each his/her own, but the wife/husband is extra ugly.
and the award for the uglies lesbians goes 2………….
THESE 2 *******!!
honestly, i still cant comprehend how ugly they r
and i thought it was bad here in boston seeing some semi ugly lesbians
I’m engaged to my dog, I’m gonna marry my dog and me and my dog are gonna have children. No we are not, and neither are they!
Of course, there is something that has to be changed to accommodate this lifestyle. No matter how you slice and dice it, one of these women will have to take the feminine and male role–because that is how God intended it. A man and a woman. No other combination will work–two men and one woman or three women or whatever.
ew!
Congrats (:
I’m sure they’re happy!
wow, this story always freaks me out.
They are gross.
omg
What is the attraction. If I were a lesbian I would find a hot chick, not this.
WTF?
Congrats to C&C!!!
What does an education activist do?
Cynthia’s “wife” is SO ugly!! She may be a nice person, but there are other nice people out there who actually look good!
@ellemac:
educates our children that being a perverted freak is normal
Congrats to them!
But gosh, her partner is not cute :P
is cynthia marrying danny bonaduce?
Hey - so many narrow-minded people on this post so I thought I’d even the playing field………brace yourself :P
Whilst I agree that biologically, the concurrence of two females in such a relationship is incompatible, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t normal. People on this post have a really archaic view on the whole situation. What is normal? What is right? In the past, it was deemed as ridiculous for women to have any sort of independence - women have the biological capability of having children but should that be their one and only purpose in life? Such potentialities are just that. They are not absolutes that must be inevitably fulfilled. Furthermore, on the contrary to popular opinion, a lot of the time women enter into same sex relationships because they actually feel a greater compatibility with their partners, than with men and I think it is completely understandable. As women, our natures and frames of mind are inherently similar and hence, the companionship that might develop between two women should actually be more common than that between a man and a woman (and vice versa with men). If anything, the relationship between a man and woman is fundamentally more shallow and base because it is largely cultivated by a sexual attraction. I don’t know how applicable this is to all same sex relationships but I have heard it been said that sometimes people don’t consider gender as an issue and that their attraction to the other person is based purely on their character. Obviously, there are people out there who have a specific sexual preference for their gender - I can’t explain that but it doesn’t mean it’s not normal. The ‘norm’ is dictated by general opinion but this doesn’t mean that it is right one. What is so harmful about same-sex relationships to society - the population today is expanding at a rate at which it is actually beneficial for there to be same sex relationships. So people who argue that God made man to be with woman, well maybe God’s provided the potential to be gay as society’s survival mechanism.
A baboons ass is better looking than these two “people”
What kind of woman doesnt want an engagement ring? Oops, I know, a manly one!
@daisy:
it was once “norm” to have slaves and still is in parts of Africa and Middle East, wanna continue on with your sociology lesson.
Who is the 14 year old boy with Cynthia ? Free Ray ban Sunglasses when you google nozycat
@just saying:
You mean she’s fighting homophobia in schools! Very admirable work and more power to her.
@just saying:
are you saying that it’s acceptable to have slaves? - the point I’m trying to make is that people shouldn’t try to state what is normal or not because more often than not they are simply stating an opinion and not reality/ fact -
I’m a 16 yr old - how old are you? Cos if you’re older than me, you should be ashamed at the standard of your ignorance!!
Wow.,
so that is what Hobbits look like in reality..
@just saying:
lol, you got ripped apart by a 16 year old. How does that make you feel?
I agree with Daisy, it could also be argued that women were designed to reproduce, but what about those that are infertile? By not fulfilling a role set out for them by God and society, are they not natural either?
It is these ridiculous pre-set notions of what is natural and right that allow people to survive in a constant state of ignorance. No one is asking everyone to agree with gay/lesbian marriage, but not being forced to accept it is not a mandate to label it unnatural.
So all of you guys that so articulately described Christine as ugly, have you looked in the mirror lately? Seriously, what do these people take away from you that makes you feel so threatened? Why should you even care about whatever anyone does in the bedroom?
Congrats to them as they are both happy. However that is one fugly woman.
What a beautiful couple! Congrats to the both of them!
Just glad she is happy!! You go girl!
I’m so happy for them!
To all those homophobes “grow a pair!”
Gender is just an illusion, a socially constructed term, we’re all born virtually genderless and then develop a sexual preference through puberty. If God didn’t like homosexuality then he could have stopped it, but he didn’t, so deal with it.
I mean, seriously, it’s existed since Plato and Socrate’s time, in fact, it was even completely acceptable then. It’s not like it’s something new or something that will die out, it’s been around forever and will remain so.
Think… if it’s about love, it can’t be that bad.
Maybe gays should “honeymoon” in Iran. Now, they would be happy to “educate” you about what is natural and what isn’t. Go tell the mullahs how natural homo’s are. Thats partly why muslims hate us so much, they are scared we will dilute their society like we’ve perverted our own.
perverted?
more like liberated!
Homosexuality has always been there, now its just recognised and accepted, like it used to be.
Missy, you’ve been badly educated…
Let them be Happy!!!
@JAY SMITH:
Since you want to get Biblical (and I’m no expert) but sin has been in the world since Adam and Eve.
God, believes in Choice, your free to follow HIM or not.
Homosexuality is an abomination before the Lord.
Thats why most gay people do not believe in God, its YOUR choice. God hates sin, but HE didn’t stop it, It’s your CHOICE. You either believe in God and the Bible or you don’t, its the ultimate CHOICE!
I believe what is in the Bible and nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality acceptable. This lifestyle goes against God. I feel sorry for them both and the children involved.
@Missy
There’s a hell of a lot wrong with society - and homosexuality is not even close to being a problem - how can you claim to respect a religion which fosters violence and hatred in so many of its followers. Last time I checked - homosexuals weren’t responsible for killing innocent people and destroying the lives of their families. Its a generalisation that all Muslims are terrorists - there are plenty of those who utilise the Islamic faith as a means of living a respectful life/ being a good person etc. but there are those who are also using it as a tool for spreading hatred. Christians have done the same in the past (and continue to do so in some parts of the world) If people have hate in their heart, they should not commit sacrilege by sullying religion in the name of greater spirituality etc.
But going back to fundamental problems with society - a large proportion of those who have lost a sense of respect for traditional values/ courtesy etc. are straight - they are therefore just as apparently ‘flawed’ as you seem to be accusing homosexuals of being. There’s alot wrong with human beings. period. It’s generally accepted that we’re fallible creatures - so before you start pointing the finger, are you really that great of a person yourself?
@ city diva19
Please tell me you did not just play the religious lifestyle card……
How much freedom/ independence do you enjoy as a young woman? If you wanna go old school, you can forget about your independence. The Bible says homosexuality is wrong - it also says that female adulterers should be stoned……
Also, I take it your one of the puritanical freaks who are fundamentalist and believe the Bible word for word - wel….. if you look in the NT section, I believe you will find the section where Jesus worked on teh Sabbath and defied Commandments in the name of love. If your so Christian - go read the Bible and get your facts straight! In fact, the Bible contradicts itself so many times its impossible to know what to do with it - that’s why the sane Christians interpret rather than folling the Bible like automatons with no brains.
Btw - I’m a humanist - there are aspects of all religions that I respect. But there are some aspects which I completely do not agree with.
* Excuse my poor grammar - I recognise that it’s you’re and not your/ well and not wel etc. - So please do not try and undermine my arguments by pointing out grammatical errors. Thank you!
Congrats to them and I’m sure they love each other very much and I’m sure Christine is a very nice woman…. But without sounding shallow, I personally have to be attracted to someone physically to wake up next to them everyday so its hard for me to grasp what she finds so attractive about this woman. Again it sounds awful I know, but Cynthia used to date men and was with her children’s father for a very long time, so why give up men to be with a woman who looks and acts like a man.
Either way Congrats, I hope the rest of the country soon legalizes gay mariage so that everyone can be able to get married in their own state.
@daisy:
You can write an entire volume on the subject if you wish, but you will not change the mind of even ONE person on this board. Those who believe in same-sex marriage did so before your long-winded diatribe, and those of us who do NOT believe in it still think that it is an abnormality and unfair for children to be raised without the benefit of having the nurturing influence of both a man and a woman. I am a New Yorker, and I can assure you they will not be getting LEGALLY married in NY anytime soon.
@ no. 43
How do you know that I can’t make a difference - it’s that kind of defeatist attitude which fosters general ignorance. Loads of gays adopt - are you saying those children would be better off shunted round homes/ getting lost in the system? Biologically, yes, it is an ‘abnormality’ but do you find a partner according to his ability to procreate (subconsciously, maybe) but I sincerely hope that society (at least a samll section of it) has advanced to the point where we do not form relationships on the basis of physical appearance. Everyone knows that long-lasting relationships are based on a meeting of the minds……
just saying…I am laughing my ass off at your comment! You rock
Daisey needs to go back to the fields.
which one of these carpet munchers is the catcher and which one is the pitcher?
gay marriage is so two ugly women can also get hitched
I have 2 words to say, “SO GROSS.”
Imagine them having sex! Ewwww!! I’ve got this mental image in my head of Cynthia going down on Christine and it’s not a pretty sight. Eww again… :(

Oh good Lord, give it a rest. It has nothing to do with “defeatist attitude.” THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS DISAGREE WITH YOU! Period. And all of your silly name-calling and attempted bullying only serves to turn MORE voters away.
This is a country of FREE THINKERS, Dear. If you want to live in a community where gay marriage is accepted, you are free to live in a state that has passed such legislation. California and New York, the two most liberal states in the union, have DEFEATED such legislation. Even your beloved Messiah, King Obama, has repeatedly stated that he is AGAINST same sex marriage. So you can sit here and screech til the end of time, but you only make yourself look more desperate with each new post.
NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO AGREE WITH YOU, DEAR.
O My I just don’t know what to say…..
Is she marrying a man or a woman?
Besides that… congratulations!
I’ve seen a lot of pics of this couple and one thing is obvious; Christine is definitely the “male” in this relationship.
I’ve seen a lot of pics of this couple and one thing is obvious; Christine is definitely the “male” in this relationship.
i love it when people say that there are no rules or that all our norms are cultural instead of natural, people open up your eyes, look at your bodies, every species, even trees and plants, even insects have genders. Saying homosexuality is as normal as heterosexuality is just ridiculous. Why is there always a butch in a couple of lesbians? why do they need to use objets or fingers or whatever to recreate a penet-r-a-t-i-o-n? do gay’s a** get naturally wet when they have sex just like v-a-g-i-n-a-s???
I am against beating up gays and stuff they have always existed and will always exist and they have the right to live in peace and be happy but don’t tell me it’s normal. I am and always will be against gay marriage and adoption. It’s not a matter of progress. And I am atheistic. Sorry for my english.
@no way:
#56, no way, GREAT post!! My thoughts exactly!
This just looks nasty. Call them a happy couple if you like, it still doesn’t make it right. I agree with Missy, Iran is beautiful this time of year.
I forgot to say to you Americans to not believe the liars who say in Europe everyone agrees with gay marriage. In fact it only exists in 5 countries (Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Norway and Sweden) if I am not mistaken. There are 27 countries in European Community. Because of the growing strenght of gay activists some countries have created some sort of “contract” to create judicial rules (to avoid problems with inheritances or custodies for example) for people who actually live together without being married like gays, long time friends or even brothers and sisters. Even in France which must be one of the most secular and atheistic countries same sex marriage does not exist. I hope it will stay this way as long as possible.
Sorry, but this is not a “hawt” situation!
lol
when i first saw this (this couple) i thought it was Cyntia and her son lol
I am happy that cynthia found love but being a christian I do not agree with the lifestyle. I am not for changing marriage to include gays since this is not how god intended it to be. I am tired of people acting like we need to change our religious beliefs because they do not like it. Tough, that is the way it is marriage is a holy tradition that is why it is called holy matrimony and ordained by a priest in a church! I feel if you want to be gay fine I respect that and don;t hold it against you but please respect and leave my religion and marriage alone!
I am for gays having basic rights for their mates but not marriage sorry.
It’s so not fair that indoctrinated people like the haters on this board have the right to decide if other couples can marry or not. Kids have grown up in split homes, without moms and without dads all the time. I my self had a single mom growing up who has the force of my being, I had a father who left when I was 2 and I’m just fine. The only thing get out of it is that I wish happiness for mother, no matter what.
In the words of Seth MacFarlane “As people decide wether or not they are okay with homosexuality, there are couples waiting to get on with their lives”
@ no. 51
Well, the fact that no one here has attempted to challenge my arguments prove their strength. You failed to answer my questions and only attempted to put me down. How am I the one bullying anyone - my arguments are rooted in logicality - I have backed up my arguments with countless examples. Yes, it was immature of me to call citydiva 19 a ‘puritanical freak’ but I despise it when people try to justify their behaviour using religion. If you feel a certain way - take responsibility for your actions, don’t hide behind religion! There is too much hypocrisy for my liking - Like Miss Prejean, She doesn’t agree with homosexuality but she will prance about in a tiny bikini and surgically enhance her body in the name of beauty - I’m sure they wouldn’t have approved of that in the biblical ages…….Now if I can admit my faults - why can’t others. You say I am bullying because you feel threatened by my arguments. Moreover, Obama is not my Messiah - he is not my President - how he decides to govern your country is not my concern. Furthermore, please do not attempt to patronise me with terms of endearment - if anyone’s screeching - it’s you. My posts aren’t bullying - I am simply trying to establish grounds for an interesting debate and so far, not many have responded with decent arguments. People telling me to ‘go back to the fields’ doesn’t even make sense and is irrelevent to the post.
I apologise in advance if my statements appear aggressive - I assure you, I am not a violent person - I just like debating about interesting topics. Please do not take offence if my views are not to your liking.
Congrats! They are a great couple.
Those of you that say : “oh, she is ugly, the manly one…” etc , I have to say that you are immature, you don’t know what real love is. Maybe some day you will experience it.
Love is free! uncontrollable!
Vivir y dejad vivir
———————————————————————————————
Felicidades chicas!!
Me at 9:11 pm —– You’re a real Harvard Grad aren’t you?
OMG….You would think with the status and wealth of Cynthia, that she could at least get an attractive mate. Jodi Foster maybe? I mean, heck, there are some gorgeous lesbians out there….her chosen mate is NOT ONE OF THEM!!!
I see them all the time at my son’s school on the upper westside. They are very committed parents! Congratulations!!!
Good for them!
Daisy - wow! Respect.
It was clear to me right away you’re not an American. Because you actually THINK. Use your brain. Don’t follow rules that someone else made up (Bible). Use arguments.
Respect.
Daisy!
Your still on your loony diatribe. Go to school and learn something.
Besanne, do you ever see their father with them - yeah they do have one- or does that not count with you? I have nothing against Cynthia and her partner, in fact I’m happy for them. I just wonder if the kids father has benefitted from this arrangement, something few people even mention.
Cynthia is pretty but her future “wife” is ugly. Her “wife” looks like a man. ****!
Good for them, their relationship is as valid as the relationshipo of any of you puritan breeders our there.
“just saying,”
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
wentsworthit - Bravo!
- My point exactly - I don’t understand why no one on the opposition of gay marriage hasn’t addressed such arguments. When they state something - I respond specificly to their point. All I keep hearing from them is gay marriage is wrong, gay marriage is wrong - the bible says so etc.
(But I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of people responded seriously to your questions :P)
Good lord that **** is joining with some sort of he-thing.
See what I mean?
@daisy:
My law degree is from one of the top ten law schools in the nation, so I assure you that I am incapable of being intellectually threatend by one who communicates in the shrill, emotional manner which you evidence.
I cited the LAW. We have NO Constitutional right to same sex marrriage in this nation. The citizens of the individual states are therefore free to pass such legislation if they so choose. To date, both CA and NY have REFUSED to do so. American voters are free to vote in WHATEVER manner they wish. They need not answer to you or anyone else as to WHY they choose to vote as they do.
And I called you a bully because you called those who disagree with you on religious grounds “freaks.” That was juvenile, and certainly not the best tactic to win converts to your side. Now, if you are intellectually capable, deal with the LEGAL position I have set forth, or are you only able to continue on your silly name-calling rant? By the way, do you also call OBAMA a “freak,” since he has unequivocally stated that he believes marriage should be between a “man and a woman?” Or are you the typical HYPOCRITICAL liberal we have all learned to know and “love?”.
Your turn, Dear.
HI,
SO ANOTHER GAY HOLLYWOOD COUPLE!
WHEN ARE THESE PEOPLE GOING TO REALIZE THAT IS NOT NORMAL!
IF IT WERE THE NORM THEN EVERYBODY WOULD BE DOING IT!
HENCE THE NORM IN NORMAL!
@80
Umm, if you read my post properly, I think you’ll find that I acknowledged my name-calling as immature and inappropriate. That has been the only time which I have been ‘emotional’. As I have argued previously, the conclusions I have made have been reached through an examination of both sides of the argument. It might surprise you to know that contrary to your beliefs, I DO undesrtand and appreciate the opposing view point. What I don’t understand is why no one has responded to my questions - if I am mistaken - tell me how? Stop reiterating the same point over and over. Moreover, the reason I called city-diva a ‘freak’ (which I sincerely regret) is because she demonstrated no sense of independent thought - ‘I believe this because the Bible says so…’ - if you reject homosexuality on the basis of biological evidence, then fair dos, but don’t justify your prejudices by hiding behind the Bible. I don’t know Obama’s motivations/ reasons for opposing gay marriage but if he were to use the same reasoning as city diva, then yes, I would wholeheratedly disagree with him!
Also, I don’t understand why you’re talking about legalities - I never said anything about people not being allowed to believe certain things. Yes, people are entitled to freedom of speech, hence why I am voicing my opinion. Moreover, if anyone is bullying, it is you. Considering that you are superior to me in age, I would expect you to attempt to educate me/ explain to me your point of view, instead of putting me down and calling me names. If anything, anyone reading this post will be able to clearly see that you are the one who is bullying and aggressive in their manner and not me. In fact, whilst you claim that my language is ’shrill’ and ‘emotional’, I would argue that your excessive use of capitals and name-calling actually reveals such descriptions to be true of yourself. Now I’ve readily admitted my mistakes and am slightly ashamed at my name-calling (which to be clear, happened once!) - so why can’t you? Also - this is the second time I’ve admitted my mistake and you have failed to acknowledge it! If you’ve attended one of the top 10 law schools in the nation, your arguments/ powers of evaluation to not do your education justice!
Also, in terms of democracy, yes, people have the right to vote how they want but I would like to remind everyone that the voice of the majority is not neccessarily the right one and that in extreme cases, the following of Bentham’s prinicple ‘greatest good for the greatest number’ can often lead to the tyranny of the masses over the minority. So yes, people are entitled to democracy but should they be allowed to excercise that democracy in a way which directly impedes upon the happiness of others? Gay marriage does not endanger the lives of other citizens so what’s the big deal. I don’t like beef but eating it aint gonna kill me. And you know what, the irony of it all is that I want to marry a man, be a housewife and have the white-picket fence - I’m as archaic as they come :) I love the idea of being married to a strong, virile man (yes, that sounded ridiculous, please don’t laugh) - What I can’t understand is why 2 worlds cannot co-exist if one does not endanger the other?
Keep it going!
@daisy:
That´s a really sensible and intellingent comment. Thank you very much.
@just saying:
Which is why we why shouldn’t create public policy based on social “norms”… lest this entire country resemble the American Psychology Association, which revised their judgment of homosexuality as a mental illness based on nothing but pressure not to be perceived as hostile to homosexuals and others that the politically correct judge to be a protected class.
OMFG
Cynthia is attractive….WTF is she doing with that troll?
Come on! There has to be better looking dykes than -that- out there.
Congratulations,it’s such an amazing news.
All the happiness possible to the couple.
My question is, if they are so much in love and been together for six years, why didn’t they get married in California when it was legal?????
They new it was going to be legalized. They knew there was a good chance it was going to be voted out. Why didn’t they take the opportunity when it was handed to them???
Do you think lesbian partners are “afraid of commitment” also?
You know the type, “yea babe I’ll live with you and do all the stuff “married” folks do, but I need my freedom right now.”
Do lesbians fall for that baloney as easily as straight women, and was Christine just shacking up with Cynthia, waiting for some younger, hotter chick to come along?
@Jenny: What do you mean?
Face it! t’s just a sick twisted world we live in
Does anyone know how old Christine’s children are?
Wait, I’m confused. Is Cynthia Nixon trying to marry that kid “BOB” (Charlie Stewart) from the Suite Life of Zack and Cody? Eww, that’s gross and even illegal. Cynthia, leave the ugly little boys alone!
Come on Daisy. Give it a rest. Clearly, your “strongly-put” views are not going to “convert” anyone. Everyone is entitled to their own belief system. You attacking them for their personal beliefs only makes you less and less credible. If you’re so obsessed with gay rights, why don’t you get off your ass and go protest somewhere. I don’t care where, just leave everyone else alone. This is really getting ridiculous.
Congrats! I hope they’re happy.
