Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt: Dinner Date
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrive at Michelangelo restaurant for dinner on Tuesday (May 19) in Antibes, France.
Angie, 33, and Brad, 45, arrived earlier in Antibes prior to their red carpet appearance at 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
The couple is attending the big event to promote Brad’s role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The film tells the story of a group of Jewish soldiers, also known as “The Basterds”, that is determined to take down the The Third Reich in Nazi-occupied France.

Despite previous reports Pitt and Jolie came to blows over whether the actress should appear on the red carpet with him at Cannes, Angelina will apparently be on Brad’s arm as he promotes his new movie, Inglourious ********, which premieres at the festival Wednesday.
“Angelina is already planning a big show of unity for the cameras at Cannes,” a source tells Britain’s Grazia magazine. “This is what she does whenever there is a crisis. And, of course, it’s sending a big message to Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston that he’s not going anywhere.”
Insiders also believe that Pitt is pining for his old his old life with former Friends star Aniston, who he divorced in 2005.

Quentin Tarantino is so high on the Cannes experience that he worked at a breakneck pace to shoot and edit the 165-page epic-sized WWII drama “Inglourious ********” in eight months. And when the writer-director bows his film on Wednesday, he says, “I’m expecting this to be one of the high moments of my career.”

Angelina Jolie threatened to kill herself after a vicious row with partner Brad Pitt, it has been claimed.
The Changeling star apparently started to write a suicide note following her bust-up with Pitt.
“Things have not been good,” an insider said. “A couple weeks ago they had a massive argument. Angelina threatened to kill herself over it.

Oh please. I explained about those motorcycle pix a gazillion times already. There was an embargo on those photos because a number of the tabs bought the pix for “exclusive” first-use publishing. The pix are only up on Belga now because they’re able to sell them to everyone now because the tabs have already published them. Halperin testifed about his sources. Guess what? The sources ( 3 athletes ) also testified that Halperin was lying and they were not his sources.

Following the libel case, Halperin was criminally charged with perjury. Guess what Halperin did then? He absconded. He fled. He went on the lam. He OJed it. After cleverly waiting almost 3 years to return to Canada to face his criminal charges guess what? The athletes were no longer available to the prosecution for trial. That’s what happens to students - they graduate and move away. Gee. Now they were who knows where. This not being a murder or rape case I am sure the prosecution couldn’t waste resources finding these athletes and bringing them back for this trial. Wasn’t Halperin clever? He sure gamed those criminal charges. Because the students were no longer available to testify, the judge was forced to dismiss the perjury charge. Halperin is very lucky he is not now a convicted perjurer.
I would love to know the consequences for his bail jumping for all those years. I have read that he went to jail for that but I don’t know the details.

CANNES, France (AFP) - Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious ********” — a blood-and-guts war story of Jewish-American soldiers on a mission to murder Nazis — gets its world premiere on Wednesday in Cannes.
The long-awaited film from the US director of “Reservoir Dogs” is arguably the most high-profile of the 20 films from around the globe vying for the prestigious Palme d’Or to be handed out on Sunday.
“In the last 20 years, we’ve seen a lot of movies that show war from the anti-war, misery perspective,” Tarantino, who won the top prize here in 1994 for “Pulp Fiction”, told Hollywood Reporter magazine on Tuesday.
“I don’t mean to say I’m pro-war, because I’m not,” he said, but he wanted to do a war movie that was “thrilling and exciting”.
The thousands of journalists at Cannes are waiting to see if “Inglourious ********” turns out to be as thrilling and exciting as Tarantino says when it screens Wednesday morning ahead of the red carpet showing in the evening.
Tarantino is in town along with Brad Pitt and several other of the 160-minute film’s A-list cast, who including Samuel L. Jackson, Mike Myers, Diane Kruger and upcoming Irish actor Michael Fassbender.
The Nazi-slaying epic comes halfway into the Cannes fest that has so far been light on A-listers and publicity stunts.
With more than half of the 20 competing movies screened, a French prison drama, “The Prophet” by Jacques Audiard, was Tuesday rating as the favourite midway flick both for a foreign critics’ panel in trade magazine Screen, and a home panel in Le Film Francais.
A movie about a six-year jail sentence for an Arab youth that turns into an education in crime, “the film is a straightforward genre piece, brilliantly made in all aspects,” said The Hollywood Reporter’s Kirk Honeycutt.
New York Times critic Manohla Dargis called it “a sensational prison film and moral history … a story of one person that eventually becomes a story of an entire world ordered by violence.”
Screen’s panel put in second place a period romance about the English poet John Keats titled “Bright Star”, an Australian-financed flick by New Zealand director Jane Campion.
But French critics reserved the second spot for a movie from Britain’s Ken Loach starring their own homegrown football legend Eric Cantona — “Looking for Eric”.
Wednesday’s “Inglourious ********” will offer Cannes a bit of much-awaited serious star power when Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie step up the famed red carpet.
They follow in the footsteps of Penelope Cruz, when she ascended the steps Tuesday for a screening of Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces”, a love story with a sub-plot on film-making.
Intimate tales of love and lust are featuring prominently at the 12-day fest, the world’s biggest movie showcase, with fewer than usual movies offering bites of social reality.
From blood-guzzling vampire love in “Thirst” by Korea’s Park Chan-wook to graphic gay scenes from China in Lou Ye’s “Spring Fever”, audiences are being dished up a steady diet of sex.
The latest dose was a controversial thriller on love and madness by Denmark’s master of auteur scandal Lars Von Trier.
Opening with a slow-motion close-up of sexual penetration and climaxing with an excruciating shot of a clitoris sliced off with rusty scissors, the gothic thriller has been all the talk at the town’s seaside tables.
For some of the 4,000 critics at the annual fest, it illustrates the blood and gore prominent at this year’s 62nd edition of the fest.
In stark contrast was Ang Lee’s awaited latest film “Taking Woodstock”, about the era-defining 1960s hippie festival.

We’ve Seen Inglourious B_______!
QT’s WWII epic debuts in Cannes, and…

Empire has just seen Quentin Tarantino’s eagerly-awaited WWII flick, Inglourious B____s, and it’s rather brilliant. Every bit as idiosyncratic as the spelling of its title, it’s a wonderfully-acted movie that subverts expectation at every turn. And it may represent the most confident, audacious writing and directing of QT’s career.

Forget what you think you know is such a clich, but here it more than applies. Tarantino has made a career out of subverting expectations this is the man who made a heist flick without a heist, after all but hes outdone himself with ********. Its an action movie that has barely any action. The ******** themselves, including Brad Pitts Lt. Aldo Raine, are off-screen for long periods of time. And it takes wild liberties with history.

But thats all set up by the opening title card (the film is divided into five chapters), Once Upon A Time In Nazi-Occupied France. Not only does that allow Tarantino to use Spaghetti Western-esque musical cues and swipe the odd shot and convention from the likes of Sergio Leone, but it frees him up to take those liberties. This is a fairytale world, in which American soldiers can ghost behind enemy lines, scalp hundreds of Nazis and never get caught. And in which no, we wont go there. Not yet. But the ending is so thrillingly audacious that this reporter laughed out loud when it happened. Even when, having read the script, I knew it was coming.

The performances are superb across-the-board. Pitt is hilarious throughout, lending his lines that air of cocky movie-star insouciance that was a touchstone of his turns in the Oceans movies.

The look on Brad’s face must have Jennifer knowing that he is not happy with Angelina, that he has had enough of the drama and the stress that she brings to his life. What was hot and burning at one time has faded into forced appearances for commercial purposes. Six kids will do it to anyone. It looks like it is only a matter of time before they move on. For the kids sake it would be nice if they didn’t but kids have never held two people together who want out. Does Angelina deserve to lose Brad? Yup. When you steal something, it is never yours, always tainted with the ghost of who it belonged to.

They look happy. I would be a little upset if everytime I tried to enjoy a night–or day–with my family someone was spying on us. They deserve some privacy when they are not working. Also the vicious comments that some people make about them–without even knowing them–must hurt them and their family even though they say they don’t know or don’t pay attention. They are just trying to live a life of love and devotion not only to each other and their family but also to the world.
