Chace Crawford is Officially Footloose
Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford has been confirmed to star in the remake of the musical film Footloose.
According to Us Weekly, the 23-year-old actor has been thinking about the part but didn’t officially sign until this week.
Chace will be playing Ren, who was played by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 original. Back in March, High School Musical’s Zac Efron had dropped out of the movie to pursue other roles outside of music.
Chace will be joining director Kenny Ortega and is expected to start filming in March of next year.

Can he seriously sing and dance? He’s barely acted, from what he’s had on Gossip Girl.
I sense this may be a bad career move.

not because i care about either of these guys but zefron has been doing this **** for a while. how come he’s not doing this…i mean he has the experience for it. i can’t even keep looking at this and refrain from shaking my head. this is the worst. why did i click on this link. i thought jared was being funny or something. i know he was in talks and all but really. are they serious.
Well, congrats to Chace. It will be interesting to see him do this role…after all, he’s an actor, and Chace may see it as a challenge.

FLOP! There shouldn’t be a remake in the first place .. and Chace is just good eye candy, he’s depressing as Nate on GG ..sigh
#2, I sense that your senses are correct. This remake was an awful idea even with Zac (who actually had the charisma to pull it off). And what’s even more weird is that it appears that they just picked Chace because he somewhat resembles Zac as opposed to going out and finding an actual song and dance man. I don’t know what these producers are thinking. This is just weird.
I hope hewill show us that he can act,I really hope…

Who knew? I for one had no clue he can sing/dance… sweet though.
im pretty sure he’ll prepare for the role. if he can’t dance, they’ll teach him. footloose is not a singing movie, so he only needs to learn to dance.
chace doesnt have that much experience acting, but he’s growing and we should be supportive of young actors who are trying to believe in themselves and make it.
ive seen every single movie of his and GG episode and i can see how much he’s grown.

I don’t care if Chace is hot or not, this is a really bad casting decision. Seriously, can Chace even sing or dance? I am thinking no as he can barely act from what I heard. I so won’t be seeing this movie.

Hm, this could either be a good thing for Chace. Or, it could be a horrible thing for him. But who knows, he might surprise us with his acting skills. If he has any. As for Zac who dropped out. Good on you Zac !! Finally, going separate ways from musical movies.
They shouldn’t even be making a remake of Footloose. All these “remakes” are slowly killing the original movies. More screaming girls come to see them just because they put hot young hollywood actors in them instead of guys that can actually act.
Was a bad role for Zac, whose basically done ONLY musicals and is a bad role for Chace who probably can’t even sing with that deep ass voice.

For the last time. . . FOOTLOOSE IS ABOUT DANCING, not singing.
Anyone can dance, even people with two left feet, which I doubt Chace has.
It will be fun and refreshing seeing him as Ren.
People will see how charismatic Chace can be.

it\s better the evil you know, than the evil you don’t know. people who say anyone can dance…or draw…or sing are disingenous. i watched dancing with the stars finale tonight and although tom bergeron was trying to be kind to chuck…his hips, feet, and arms were all wrong. they shouldn’t be trying to remake footloose. this isn’t a disney movie. i did go and see hairspray because a lot of my friends were in the movie, and i will admit that zac was good. as much as i like chace…he is and will never be kevin bacon. he can’t even try. this movie will flop, and i don’t even need to watch gg to know this. they better cast someone aside from him or hayden for this movie to be worth watching.
@ashlee: He’s done some horror flicks and some other movies…can’t think of the name of them, they weren’t blockbusters, but he has done other film work.

17 Again was great and is a hit. It’s still in the top 10 list of movies…and is number two in one of the foreign countries…The movie is a success….sorry to disappoint you.
