Dita Von Teese: amFAR Against AIDS!
Dita Von Teese shows off a bit of leg (and garter belt!) at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS 2009 Cocktail Party at the Hotel du Cap during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 21) in Antibes, France.
The 36-year-old burlesque queen wore dress from the calligraphy collection of Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture. She finished off her look with Christian Louboutin pumps.
Dita tweeted, “[My dress] should get me sufficiently ridiculed in the US=Success!”
I like the dress. Does that make me un-American???
Ms. Von Teese also encouraged Sharon Stone, a tireless advocates for AIDS research. She added, “Go,go,go Sharon! Extract [millions from] the film industry for the cause!!!” 10+ pics inside…

why is she famous
Its not really fair, its actually a gorgeous dress but it might not look great on plumper people, only a few people could wear that dress and look drop dead gorgeous in it, Dita is one of them, that dress fits her like a glove. I dont know why she would think people would ridicule her for it, its a very smart dress and architectual, wtg dita.

I really don’t understand that comment about getting ridiculed in the US. What do we not have any fashion sense?? I just think that was a really unnecessary comment that takes away from how great she looks.
I will admit the make is slightly on the heavy handed side but I think with they whole look she is going for and always goes for it works.
Mmm, I guess I’m un-American too because I love the dress. What I don’t like is that Von Teese feels the need to disparage the U.S., it’s not America’s fault that she doesn’t always have the greatest taste in clothing. Geez. I hate these celebrities that dog the United States when they are overseas then turn arund and come back here where they know their bread is buttered. A-holes.

She is not disparaging Americans. She was referring to the U.S. tabloids and joking around on twitter. I like her taste in clothing but if you’re not into vintage then you probably wouldn’t like her style.
This woman has parlayed a stripping and dancing career into her own multi-million dollar empire. She must have some level of talent and business savvy. She is definitely making the most of her 15 minutes.

Wow, she wore a lot of beautiful dresses lately and this one is just great, it looks, I don’t know, very art-deco to me…
I’m not so crazy about the short hair but it still looks so perfect and shiny all the time.
And I don’t think she literally wears tons of make-up, when you use red lipstick and eyeliner and you’re pale people get the wrong impression. There are lots of celebrities out there that put on just as much make-up, the only difference is they use other shades and colors.
