Clay Aiken To Adam Lambert: Sorry!

Clay Aiken To Adam Lambert: Sorry!

Yesterday, Clay Aiken bashed fellow American Idol contestant Adam Lambert’s rendition of “Ring of Fire”. “[I] thought my ears would bleed,” Clay wrote. “Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!”

Moments ago, Clay issued an apology, saying, “Who knew I had so much influence and that my words and opinion mattered so much to so many people!?!?! HA HA HA I’ll be the first to admit that my opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say! If only many of them took the time to pay attention to important things like the US economy and the welfare of the world’s children. But… nah… I could blog about that type of stuff anytime and most wouldn’t think twice, but let me say something that they can pick and choose quotes and misinterpret me… and it’s showtime! I never assumed my opinion mattered so much! I guess I may have been wrong.”

He continued, “That said, since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog, i suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote. I am sure that some were upset by my choice of words describing my opinion of a performance I heard from Adam Lambert. I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can’t stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn’t dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that’s fine. I don’t expect unanimous, nor even majority support for my music. But, my guess is Adam doesn’t either. I would not venture to make judgements on the personality or demeanor of anyone I don’t know, so none of what I said in my previous blog was directed as a “slam” on Adam as a person. At the same time, I wouldn’t dream of slamming him as an entertainer. He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. If what I said in my previous blog regarding my impression of a single performance from Adam upset or offended any of his fans, I expect that the mature ones will realize that it was simply a poorly worded metaphor describing my personal tastes. The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam. And the irony is, if he’s smart he couldn’t give a crap what I think of his Ring of Fire performance. As an entertainer, Adam knows that one person’s opinion of one performance really matters a little less than zero, in the grand scheme of things. He could not have gotten on Idol (nor made it as far as he did) without an immense amount of talent. He surely doesn’t need my approval to know he has a gift. At the same time, he realizes that amazing talent doesn’t always equal universal appeal. (I could NEVER have the amount of skill and talent that ballet dancers have! that’s talent! But, I don’t particularly enjoy it!) I am sure that I will have plenty of opportunities in the coming years to hear Adam sing. I imagine he’ll be around for years to come. But in the meantime, I definitely don’t want to stoop to the level of so many negative freaks on the internet… so, I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn’t give a damn! :-) God knows he shouldn’t. :-) “

This story brings to question time …

@Mike graham: i think that you don’t have to feel so disappointed….are you embarrassed being a fans of someone who’s not as popular as last time anymore?? i still like clay….and i think that every person in this universe have right to give their opinion….like…if you don’t like something….can you say that you like it even if you don’t like it??? I like adam too….have faith in clay….hehehe…..

Am I the only one that noticed that Clay is trying to be all college guy with his long redundant writing? That silly little story would have gotten an ” F” at UNC you fool.

I can’t help what I feel. I just felt that, being a high profile person, Clay should not have made such pointed negative comments.

He’s a passive-aggressive little b*tch!

haha, well said Clay. Now everyone is thinking you’re being jealous :D

I’m glad Clay finally spoke his mind. The comments were not to be taken personally about Adam, they were a reflection of how he felt about one single performance. Clay has had his share of criticisim, so big deal.

@whizzle: and is it really clay’s comments….???? like there are so many issues about clay wants to duet with adam lambert…and…..this proves that those jokes are just hoax…and maybe this is one of those hoax too????

Clay, if you have nothing good to say, don’t open your mouth.
Statistics show Adam has more fans than Kris but whose fans voted more times as 1 person in Arkansas voted 45,000 times according to AT&T.
I’m saying this so you know, Clay, you are alienating millions of people, not only in America. The world is ready to embrace Adam.
The more Adam is bashed and with the AI travesty, the more loyal Adam’s fans become. His worldwide fans will be loving him even more with a passion.
ADAM’s intensity with his music will wow his fans for years to come.
That’s how we will get even with this travesty.
ADAM, is our WORLD’s Idol.
The faster you learn this, the better for you, Clay.
Because what you’re doing, is the fastest way to oblivion.

Clay, Adam is so hot to both men and women. You aren’t even warm to anyone - like yesterday’s cold and leftover pepperoni.

Clay is just a bitter, jealous, insignificant has been. Adam will always be around. He is like Elvis an icon. Jealous people did the same thing to him as well. Why do people want to hurt Adam! Come on I wish him all the best ! I love you Adam!

Clay can’t win on this one. He made a mistake by saying what he said in the first place. He apologized but people don’t like the apology now. I’m sure he is sorry. Adam is very talented and should not be judged on one performance. Clay, I hope you learned a lesson here. I am still a big fan but hope you will choose words more carefully next time. You have always been so kind to others.

@MULLINS:

Aiken’s CD sales can’t drop MUCH - they’re already just about as low as they can go now…LOL!! His last two CD’s totally TANKED. He even tried to GIVE AWAY a song a few weeks ago online, (while asking for a “voluntary” donation to HIS foundation) and got VERY FEW downloads, even counting the ones that were downloaded by people who just wanted to listen to and laugh at the horrible song. It was one that he “tried out” at one of his concerts in 2005 and was the LEAST liked of all. He’s sooo generous, isn’t he? Asking for a donation to HIS foundation for a song he knew few people liked. LOL!! He probably got a tax write-off for “donating” it.

He apologized at the end.when apologizing don’t try and assume what someone think or knows.he is silly and he looks crazy.

On May 12, 2009 the Chicago Sun-Times had an article about Aiken wanting to do a duets album with Adam, and possibly tour together. How is it that he thought Adam’s music made his ears bleed when he heard Ring of Fire, and then thought maybe they could join forces? Oh, because he had liked Adam all along, and just got his little feelings hurt when Adam was not interested in Clay!

Wow - this creep sure has a high opinion of himself. Jealousy is ugly, man. And Clay - dude, you are getting uglier by the minute.

Adam knows he doesn’t appeal to everyone. He did well when the votes were divided up among a lot of people. But when it came down to two people, Kris won more votes. Of course, it helped that Arkansas gave Kris 38Million votes, and he picked up Danny’s because they have similar styles.

I think Adam hit a plateau once Allison left. He probably picked up a lot of her voters, but he finally hit a “ceiling” and that was it for him. I still think he will be a HUGE rock star and I love Adam. I really don’t care how he spends his private time.

Someone said his boyfriend was in the audience. Great! So what! It’s about the music. I give him and Kris cheers for acting so cool all thru the competition, and for supporting each other. I adore Adam. Clay should crawl back under his rock. No. Class, Clay. Shame on you,.

I LOVE CLAY. Aha.

i LOVE Adam! he’s going to be the biggest star EVER! clay is just jealous there is going to be another runner up contestant more successful than he was. GO ADAM LAMBERT! boy i bought a bunch of your songs on itunes yesterday<3

The guy is entitiled to his own opinion. If he doesn’t like the way Adam sing, that’s his perogative! As he stated, he’s only one person so why is everyone making such a big deal about it. Give it a rest! I don’t like Adam’s style of singing either(rock and roll). Does that make me a horrible person in society? Everyone is not going to like him (that’s why he lost) and there is such a thing as freedom of speech so just get over it!!

La'Nae Zumo @ 05/23/2009 at 1:40 pm

I have heard enough to know cruleness when i hear it. I am sure Clay has been hurt in his life. How dare him make public remarks against Adam. I loved Clay but I am very sad to see the ***** in him come out this way.Adam is so above that.Sad Sad Sad….

Solo, he shared his opinion with people on the internet - now its our turn to share our opinion of him. Fair is fair. He has rights, and so do we.

Clay, Don’t get big headed, no one cares about your opinion, just stop trashing Adam! He is a way better person than you are. You are pathetic.

Didn’t he state an opinion on his “personal” blog? How in the world did it become world news! Furthermore, since when did his opinion become so important? i don’t get it. I hope he didn’t get any death threats over this pettiness! People are more concerned about a nobody’s opinion then more important issues going on today!…shakes head. Sometimes ignorance simply needs to be ignored. By the amount of popularity this is getting on blogs, you would say Clay has become a bit of celebrity again from all of the negative attention and I find that disturbing.
