Clay Aiken To Adam Lambert: Sorry!
Yesterday, Clay Aiken bashed fellow American Idol contestant Adam Lambert’s rendition of “Ring of Fire”. “[I] thought my ears would bleed,” Clay wrote. “Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!”
Moments ago, Clay issued an apology, saying, “Who knew I had so much influence and that my words and opinion mattered so much to so many people!?!?! HA HA HA I’ll be the first to admit that my opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say! If only many of them took the time to pay attention to important things like the US economy and the welfare of the world’s children. But… nah… I could blog about that type of stuff anytime and most wouldn’t think twice, but let me say something that they can pick and choose quotes and misinterpret me… and it’s showtime! I never assumed my opinion mattered so much! I guess I may have been wrong.”
He continued, “That said, since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog, i suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote. I am sure that some were upset by my choice of words describing my opinion of a performance I heard from Adam Lambert. I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can’t stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn’t dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that’s fine. I don’t expect unanimous, nor even majority support for my music. But, my guess is Adam doesn’t either. I would not venture to make judgements on the personality or demeanor of anyone I don’t know, so none of what I said in my previous blog was directed as a “slam” on Adam as a person. At the same time, I wouldn’t dream of slamming him as an entertainer. He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. If what I said in my previous blog regarding my impression of a single performance from Adam upset or offended any of his fans, I expect that the mature ones will realize that it was simply a poorly worded metaphor describing my personal tastes. The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam. And the irony is, if he’s smart he couldn’t give a crap what I think of his Ring of Fire performance. As an entertainer, Adam knows that one person’s opinion of one performance really matters a little less than zero, in the grand scheme of things. He could not have gotten on Idol (nor made it as far as he did) without an immense amount of talent. He surely doesn’t need my approval to know he has a gift. At the same time, he realizes that amazing talent doesn’t always equal universal appeal. (I could NEVER have the amount of skill and talent that ballet dancers have! that’s talent! But, I don’t particularly enjoy it!) I am sure that I will have plenty of opportunities in the coming years to hear Adam sing. I imagine he’ll be around for years to come. But in the meantime, I definitely don’t want to stoop to the level of so many negative freaks on the internet… so, I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn’t give a damn! :-) God knows he shouldn’t. :-) “

@jj:
agreed. Clay just lost one more fan (and we really are a dwindling bunch)
CLAY OWES KRIS AN APOLOGY
He insinuated in his first blog that the ONLY reason Kris won was because so many people voted against Adam. Millions of people love Kris’ style of singing and songs. Kris is a true artist just as much as Adam and deserves the title on his own merit. The apology blog was almost as sarcastic as the first blog.
WHO CARES WHAT GAY AIKEN HAD TO SAY…NOBODY’S LISTENED WHAT THIS QUEENIE SAID ANYWAY.
I think Clay KNOWS HOW TO GET IN THE NEWS.
He knows what to say and who to say it about to make news and then act like Gee I can’t believe I have all this attention.
Clay probably has a crush on Adam… LOL
Anyway
Adam is the best person who’s ever been on American Idol. Period. He’s going to be HUGE.
It’s a shame that Clay felt the need to say something awful about another gay singer . It wasn’t so long ago that Clay was the gay singer wearing Adams heels..Less claws Clay-more cheers as another gay singer joins the family……
wow really clay? he’s just jealous. the same thing happened to adam that happened to him but adam’s getting much more attention because he’s better! sorry clay but he is! get over it and just be supportive.
I agree with Anon. Adam got Allison’s votes. Danny Gokey’s went to Kris. I doubt if Adam cares. He will be an icon. I don’t care if he is gay or not, but he has done more than anyone to further the cause of gays because it has really not been an issue except when it came down to the “Christian” votes. Even our President can’t get the Christian vote! As for “Ring of Fire,” it haunts me. I think it is the most creative retake of a song I have ever seen. The song will never be the same to me again. I will always think of Adam.
@al:
If you think Kris won on his own merit………..
@Mariyas:
Being overly obsessed with a loser from American Idol is not healthy. Adam has yet to sell a single record. Calm down….you sound unbalanced and scary.
Wow, I feel like I’m back in highschool . . . that was so not an apology. . . more like a little “trying to hold up a reputation” speech his publicist suggested he give.
Love Adam, though. . . he’s truly a classy gentleman. I mean, did you see the reaction on his face when Kris won? He even told him he deserved it. The man is a real sweetheart, not to mention he has incredible talent.
Clay sounds like a bitter ***** cuz a new gay boy is in town who is much hotter and will be the bigger star.
Huge Adam fan here & I accept Clay’s apology. His personal Q&A with fans on a private site should never have been stolen & sent to the gossip bloggers. He was only talking about one performance & indeed, Adam’s worst performance on the show, if any of his other fans would just admit that. I think Clay is entitled to his opinion, to post it on his own private site, & not expect it to end up on TV, the Drudge report & the Huffington Post. I hope Adam learns something from this & never ever says one bad word about another performer, in private or elsewhere or he will insure the wrath of the Claymates, just as Clay had endured the wrath of the more over the top Glamberts.
Wow, after all the horrific, disgusting things that have been said & printed about Clay Aiken for 6 years from “negative internet freaks,” comedians, gossip bloggers, even some of his peers in Hollywood…. & after Clay has turned the other cheek to them all & never said a bad thing about any of them…. I think I can give him a pass on posting one opinion about one universally-known-as-wretched performance by another singer. He only said what we were all thinking, just like with Simon Cowell. I wonder how many of the people bashing Clay’s right to enjoy the kind of music he likes have ever posted anything against anyone who’s ever said nasty crap about Clay? I would guess none of you.
You know what is so sad about Clay Aiken, is the fact that I bought his cd when it came out, and now ever since he wrote all that negative stuff about Adam Lambert after only watching one episode of season 8, all I wanna do now is sell the cd and give the money to a homeless person.
I’ve never read such a lengthy and insincere “apology” letter. It seems that Clay is just one bitter queen, and unfortunately did not have the protection of a publicist when he made those comments. It’s one thing to slam somebody based on knowledge, but to slam someone without even seeing more than 2 performances out of over 15, that is just plain ignorance and carelessness. Clay, that was plain irresponsible. Good luck with everything, and I hope you can raise your children with a little more class.

what apology? he called every one freaks, it was not sincere, he only got caught with his pants down, keep your jealous trap closed clay, you were wrong. learn to admit that. placing the blame on everyone else and comparing other situation to this is not helping you, but shows your true colors. jealousy and mean spirited, and you won’t accept the blame for your own actions, instead, call people names? bad move, you lost another fan buddy.
Clay wants some action from Adam, thats how they work.
honestly i doubt any1 really gave a **** gayken
ur nothing but a wash up just like every single AI winner or 2nd placer
dumb *****, i h8 him and adam
Clay Aiken needs to just go away stat! He’s truly one of the most annoying people ever…
Clay has apologized to Adam and that is good.
He took AI to task and that is better
If the Adam fans (and I am one as well as a Clay fan) want to blame someone for Adam’s loss to Kris you can start with AI. They allow multiple votes and texts. This was not a talent contest it was an endurance contest and the people with the best toys (Arkansas fans with their voting machines) won.
never like him or his lame ass music, and not because he kept
denying he was gay, but because he was a lying ass lame with
lame ass music.. :lol:
Clay is such a dork. Who really cared what he thinks or says.
Clay Aiken is a has been and is just seeking publicity!
Clay….you reek of desperation! You will never get the kind of attention that Adam has no matter how loud you scream. By the way, maybe you should look up the definition of an apology before you try to use one. Now, don your lizard suit and hit the lounge!
Clay really did not slam Adam, he slammed his performance of Ring of Fire. I am an Adam fan, but I hated Ring of Fire. He sounded like a cat in heat. Even Simon hated the performance, as did half the viewers of American Idol. Even some Adam fans hated it so why is it such a big deal if Clay hated it. He is not alone.
