OlderStart Stretching, Chace Crawford!
After Zac Efron dropped out, Chace Crawford quickly swooped up the role of Ren McCormack for the remake of the 1984 dance classic Footloose. The 23-year-old actor talked to EW about his upcoming fancy footwork:
On putting on Zac’s dancing shoes: “I know Zac and we’re actually friends. He’s gotta make the best choice for his career at this point and I have to make the best for mine and luckily it worked out for both of us.”
On dancing and singing for director Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) during his audition: “It was, like, five hours of the most rigorous tests ever. I walked out very confident.”
On preparing for his role as Ren: “I don’t know if the gymnastics [high bar] scene is going to make it… I’ve got some movement in me, but I’m not a dancer. I need to start stretching now.”

They did not have a bunch of adult cowboys it was about high school

He is gorgeous and will be fabulous in the role! Would never go to any movie with Efron in it but pencil me in for this one with THIS guy.
Incredibly stupid of Zac to pass on this movie. It will be super and a box office hit for Chace Crawford. He will regret passing on this one.

Yes it would be a box office hit but it will do NOTHING for his career long term. Matter of fact, it would have hindered Zac’s career. All this role would have done is label him as more of a teen hearthrob than before. 17 again was a success but that also is in the exact same league.
I don’t think it was stupid at all for Zac to turn down this role. It’s a huge risk I agree, but it is great that he is willing to take them. He wants to be a serious actor and the only way to get there is to try different things. I thought it was a very smart decision

Don’t make fn fo me, but I’ve never even seen Footloose. Is it any good?
Chace was cast despite admittedly not being a singer or dancer AND his reputation for not being a charismatic or good actor. He hasn’t proven he can carry a movie, plus this is a remake a lot of people don’t want to see happen.
It seems like a really big risk for everyone to take. Maybe they truly believe they’ve got something here. Or maybe the people doing this project are kidding themselves. The odds seem like they’re against this project but maybe the movie’ll benefit from the low expectations.

Well, whatever happens will be fine. Chace is just starting.
I wonder if they will film in that little town in Utah as the original. Because I was there a while ago after Sundance, and it has changed a lot.
Chace is awesome. He’s refreshing and has an amazing face. He’s very charismatic in real life, but his roles have always been so blah! I know he has it in him!! GO CHACE!! YOU’RE THE MAN!!
Oh and he has THE BOD!!
I wish Zac had a cameo and they had a “dance-off” - and then kissed and made up afterwards.
