Drew Barrymore Honors Lupus LA Efforts

Drew Barrymore (in Prada) speaks at the 9th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday (May 28) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 34-year-old actress presented the “Loop Award” to Nancy Utley, President of Fox Searchlight Films, the studio that brought us The Wrestler and eight-time Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire. Utley was honored for her efforts to further the cause of Lupus LA, which raises funds for research to prevent, treat and cure lupus.

I can’t believe you were ever serious leaving something this important to chance and misunderstanding.

The only reason I could see for you being purposely vague and confusing is that you were just trying to stir up enough emotion to get a song or two out of me and make me care enough to put myself in harm’s way for you. Maybe manipulation and meaness were part of that and you didn’t mind, so long as the end justified the means.

In any case, after everything that’s happened I don’t think either of us would really trust or believe in the other without something real and in person. Let’s just say, I won’t be holding my breath.
