Vanessa Hudgens hits the red carpet at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday evening (May 31) in Universal City, Calif.
The 20-year-old Bandslam babe wore a gorgeous orange Max Azria dress and matching Jimmy Choo “Riv” platform sandals. (Sophia Bush wore the same shoes last week.)
During the ceremony, Vanesssa sat next to her boyfriend (and High School Musical costar) Zac Efron.

I know that Vanessa acts as if she and Ashley are really great friends. But those really close to her know that Vanessa is quite competitve when it comes to Ashley. Although she doesn’t like to show it, she always wants to be one step higher than her.

Congrats to Ashley for wininng! I dont understand why everyone thinks Vanessa would be angry about Ashley winning. She did an amazing job in HSM3, as did Vanessa. I’m sure Vanessa is very proud of Ashley, just like Ashley would have been very proud of Vanessa if she had won. It’s so obvious MTV gave the award to Ashley seeing as they have a special relationship with her and her album promo is not making any dent at all and still the haters can’t get over Vanessa.
Well, this night the award will be over, those with their breakthrough popcorn will take them home while those getting the breakthrough roles will head on to work.
Come 2010 and 2011, we’ll look back and see how the breakthroughs have panned out in movies released and progress in career.
Van looked gorgeous as always and carried herself with grace and poise. She doesn’t need such favors to make her own impact or get breakthrough roles.

It is easy to stick a label onto someone. It is difficult and challenging to see this person in her uniqueness. Consider the possibility that what you see as a defect in a person may not be a defect at all but really something that your upbringing and conditioning have led you to dislike. (this applies to anybody) Now try to search for the treasures buried in any individual that your dislike prevented you from seeing before. Your dislike had clouded the vision and prevented you from seeing. When you don’t judge you will be amazed that you yourself are not being judged. It’s all in the attitude.

Though i voted for Vanessa. I’m happy for Ashley and since they are best friends, i’m sure she’s happy for her too. Vanessa won the Kids Choice Award and for some reason Ashley wasn’t even nominated.
Do I think Vanessa has a future in the entertainment business? Yes. Do i think she’s proven it yet? No. Will she prove her skills this year? Maybe not. But i do believe with roles like Sucker Punch she will be taken more seriously. Zac Synders doesn’t cast likely. He has a skill in seeing something good in actors and i trust his decision to cast her.
I think Vanessa is 20 years old, she’s a kid! And for the roles she’s given she’s played the part well and that’s all you can ask for an actor. With time her material will expand and she will get for substantial roles. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But there is so much tension on all her boards. So atleast she keeps people talking. She’s pretty mature for her age but she’ll grow up. The girl if she continues to keep her head straight not fall for the Hollywood thing and stays honest, she’ll be great. Everyone person is going to be disliked, especially in this industry, it’s just the way life is. I use to not like her, but unlike most people i’ve learned to like her due to her supposed mistakes and her acting ability. And for me that never happens so that makes me trust her work.

Some people are so stupid on here. If you think Vanessa is full of herself because of what she said on stage then you must be totally ignorant and like 13 years old in the way the world works. WRITERS of this awards show write what the presenters will say, not the presenters.
And as far as Ashley goes: she is a talented young woman BUT if I was her I would be wondering if:
1) there was the slightest possibility that I got that award because I had fans that hated my supposed best friend so much that they voted endlessly for me
2) that another actress who’s fans hated Vanessa so much also voted for me to try to keep her from winning
3) my endless self-promotion from twittering all the time of my where-abouts and whatever else
4) that I suddenly changed boyfriends and hooked up with one who had MTV ties and could promote my career better
5) and last but not least, the fact that the two true front runners, Vanessa and Miley, might have won it for me because the vote was split so much between them that I ended up getting more votes. However, in reality IF Vanessa or Miley had been out of the running I would NEVER have won over the other one so it was like winning by default…

The directors, producers, and movie production company know Vanessa has talents. She is being offered for roles in upcoming movies. Now I could really say that Vanessa is out of the tween/teen fan area and moved on to mature audiences, therefore, the movie industrial will be able to offer Vanessa more movie roles that are higher rating than PG13. Winning the MTV award will just keep her down with the tween/teen audiences plus Disney/HSM association, and now her title will be “Beastly” star Vanessa Hudgens instead of HSM3 star. It just take away further and further away from the name of HSM and Disney.
It is great, she is completely grown up from Disney/HSM.

All the reports I have read (including MTV) said that Zac and Vanessa arrived together but broke off to walk the carpet separately. MTV also blogged that, after the show, Zac and Vanessa left the audience together to go their dressing room. Plus they, of course, sat next to each other and cuddled the whole show. Love how in love they are.

Here is ONE definite fact: whether or not people are saying the show was rigged because they are Vanessa fans or whatever, as I mentioned in my previous comment the fact is the Vanessa and Miley voters could very well have caused Ashley to get the award. IF Vanessa had not been in the running I have a feeling Miley might have gotten it and if Miley had not been in the running Vanessa would have won. I won’t even mention the other situations that could have and probably did come into play.

What exactly did Vanessa say, that everyone is talking about? I watched the awards but i don’t know what she said wrong.
First, I’m gonna be honest with you all, I’m a teen. Okay, big deal!
Second, I would like to say that what you guys are doing is very childish. If you don’t like her, why do you comment? I know you’re trying to prove a point but is it really neccessary? You can find someone you do like, it really isn’t that hard. Unless you don’t like anyone, which is a little sad, because well you would just live in hateful world.
I know I might sound naive but seriously it takes up so much more of your time to stay on Vanessa’s thread and comment bad about her. You ask why people like Naomi spend their time on a useless blog but in reality, you’re doing the exact same thing. Only your reason is a lot more pointless then Naomi’s. She actually likes and supports Vanessa whereas you come her and say mean things about a person you don’t even know. You spend so much time insulting someone when you could be spending time giving someone else good reviews.
If you don’t like Vanessa you do not have to comment. Sure, it’s freedom of speech and you can say whatever you want to say. You are entitled to your own opinion. But, state your opinion with class and leave it at one comment. I personally love Vanessa. I think she is a great rolemodel for all teens and even for people older then she is. She does shine and excell in many different ways and I do believe she will make it very big someday, or atleast I hope so.

Me thinks that for some posters here, if words fail you, swearing and name calling seems to be your last resort. If you’re not a fan of Vanessa’s fine, but to bash her for bashing’s sake is a big difference between giving one’s opinion. e.g.You can say I don’t really like what she’s wearing as it does not define her figure or the top is too revealing without adding that she looks trashy or n a k e d. For your info, there have been celebrities who have worn dresses just as revealing as hers and Vanessa does look classy here as a matter of fact. She downplayed it with her skintone lipstick.

I didn’t find her annoying when she was presenting but I find her annoying in general. She smirks and always has this smug look like ‘I’m hot as hell’ and it’s irritating. It looks like she’s going to be in Vancouver for quite a while. SP is action so four months is reasonable enough for the shooting. She’s just going to be there when it’s really cold, ouch.
I’m suspecting she wouldn’t have a lot of time to promote Bandslam and might skip quite a chunk of the promotion considering Beastly is shooting through June and July and SP is picking up September. We’ve not factored in fight training yet.
Hopefully we’ll get updates from both Montreal and Vancouver.

I will preface the following by saying I am not really a Vanessa fan (I don’t watch her movies, but don’t dislike her since I obviously don’t know her), but how is she overrated? To be overrated she would have to be consistently talked about as a great actress and she isn’t, as of yet anyways. Anyone who seems to like her doesn’t comment on her superb acting, more so her beauty, style, and perceived personality. leighton meester isn’t that new on the scene. i watched her break into acting. i think she has potential as an actor. she’s interesting. i would pay attention to her even if she wasn’t good looking or in gg (as i had prior to her success) because she actually seems to have a brain and doesn’t say stupi sh*t. maybe her life situation makes her more real than some others.
anyways. i don’t know what’s up with the hate on vanessa train because of zac, because of what i said previously, but all those girls you listed all have haters and people who like them. it’s life and they’re so called celebrities. yes vanessa is fairly new in the game, and she needs more time but from what i’ve seen so far she’s in the can’t act column. maybe if i knew more about her and she was more interesting aside from enorsing ecko shoes and neutrogena, then maybe i’d change my mind.

You make no sense, They all get hate on their threads particularly Rachel Bilson. I don’t know her but I always feel sorry at how vicious the hate she faces is, Vanessa’s is nowhere near those.
The difference is that people don’t care enough about the others to ‘waste’ their time clicking on their threads much less commenting.
But lots of you are so stirred by Vanessa that you not only click on her thread but read the comments and then get incensed because fans are appreciating her. If you stayed away from her threads, you wouldn’t read fans’ comments and those wouldn’t stick in your guts as they obviously do.
Karena made a good point. We are fans are the first to say that Vanessa has not yet proved herself but we love her anyway but it appears that what is really irritating people is that fans love her, therefore she’s ‘overrated’ for having fans that love her?
What do fans do? We appreciate and support and we will keep doing that. If you stayed on the thread of your idol, Vanessa would offend you less as you would be spared the sight and sound of her.
Imagine the reasoning, it’s like my going into a pub and complaining of too much drinking, what do they do in pubs and what do fans do on a thread that is dedicated to their idol?

Yeah, it’s been raging on. I guess they keep getting frustrated that no matter how much they try to put her down, she has consistent loyal fans who always stand by her. Have to say loved the colour of Vanessa’s dress it really suited her. Vanessa was never a Disney girl…The only movie/TV contract with Disney that Vanessa did, is the 3 HSM series. She did appeared on Suite Life of Z&C for 4 quest appearances but never and not a regular on that TV series; however, Ashley Tisdale is one of the main star for that Disney TV show since 2005. Currently, Ashley is still with Disney doing Phinnies and Pherb. Vanessa started with Thirteen and Thunderbird. After HSM3 is done with all the promos and showings, Vanessa is happily ever so far gone away from Disney. Beside, I always felt Disney never did respected Vanessa that much. But at the end, it worked out for both parties.
Disney still have their stars such as Demi, Selena, Miley, Ashley Tisdale, and Jonas Bros.

1. If you are not a little girl and have a life then why are YOU here? Why are you different than any one of use who are older?

I just wanted to add on to that list, Frieda Pinto (the other nominees that did not win also) has signed on to 2 upcoming feature movies (American Empire and untitled Woody Allen’s London Project) and in progress of filming ‘Miral’ for showing in 2010.

Vanessa looks STUNNING! She is SUCH a gorgeous. Too bad she didn’t win anything, but congrats to Ash, Kristen, and Rob. They were just as deserving. I really love Vanessa’s look here; super cute and sexy dress, love the hair and makeup too. She has the perfect look for summer. I can’t wait to see her other movies, loved her in HSM and I’m sure the next three projects will be enjoyable as well. It’s cool to know she’s such a sweet, pretty, and talented young girl. Vanessa looks superb!! I’m not a big fan of the dress.. but i love how she chose the perfect shade of light pink make up to match the dress though :) I’m so sad that Ashley won instead of Vanessa… but if there was some gorgeous award thingy at the MTV awards… Vanessa will definitely beat Ashley by a million!
