Brad Pitt: On the Moneyball

Brad Pitt: On the Moneyball

Brad Pitt will be spending some time in L.A. soon, as he started shooting his new movie Moneyball.

Steve Elzer, a rep for the movie, confirmed the news to Life & Style. Meanwhile, partner Angelina Jolie is still filming espionage thriller Salt in New York.

Moneyball centers on the major-league’s Oakland A’s and their general manager Billy Beane (Pitt) who attempts to draft players to the team using computer-generated analysis.

passin gas to counts for 99% of all posts, no wonder B/A’s threads get so high. Thanks to guli n passing gas for that. LOSERS

lakers fan in boston @ 06/01/2009 at 5:37 pm it kinda sounds boring tbh
another sports movie….
but still it would produce a decent amount of revenue probs
and btw….why the oakland a’s
i no it’s not bradley’s fault
but the a’s? out of all the baseball teams
————————
Why the A’s? Because Billy Beane was the A’s manager when he built that winning team using that computer-generated analysis, on very little money. So a movie about Billy Beane isn’t going to be about the Yankees.

Hello everyone. Glad to see so much news about the Jolie-Pitts. Angie’s movie seems to wrapping up. I wonder if the kids are out of school yet. When does NY or LI students start the summer break?

anyway hope the family can have some time to unwind before Brad starts shooting. I mean even if the movie starts mid June it does not mean Brad has to be there yet. They may start by shooting some of the various Baseball stadiums and players and such..

Ok bbl.

Maddox and Pax will love daddy making this film.

It is cuz pt likes to answer for everybody.
If you don’t like Brad and Angie why are you here?

Time for Brad to work and Angie to rest and take care of the kids.

I support all Angie and Brad’s movies.

Thanks, PT, the Variety article is the last thing I remember reading on the movie. I guess we’ll see in a few weeks. Gerard Butler is in NYC right now though.

Was looking at the M Fox snaps with her bad gel hair
Who knows, but it could be that it was done intending that the rest of her hair went over one shoulder ala to copy Angie Cannes style but she changed her mind last minute.

Will support all of Brad and Angie’s movies.

hey, what happened to those really ugly pictures of Brad Pitt? I could swear I saw them earlier on this thread. I wanted to show them to my girlfriend.

Golly, Becky. You sure spend an awful lot of your life monitoring my life. Stalking me twice in 6 hours? That’s beyond creepy. I had you down as a Bunny Boiler, but now I’m going to elevate you to Kitty Killer. Everybody keep a close eye on your pets…

IMHO, the typical Brad Pitt fan does not feel the need to defend him. Defend what? Here is a guy who was brought up (not dragged up) in a seemingly decent and stable environment infused with honor, good morals, quiet dignity, saying what you mean and meaning what you say. In the Pitt’s household I suspect that no voices or hands (as in hitting) were ever raised … perhaps an eyebrow (lol) but nothing else. Not saying that automatically makes BP a good person but there is truth to the adage: “the apple never falls too far from the tree”.

So he left “Podunk, USA”, $325 in his pocket that he didn’t beg, borrow or steal but worked for and with his country-boy naiveté headed to “La-La Land, Hollywood”, where dreams are broken faster than a Wal-Mart toy. Unlike most stars, he knew no one, didn’t have a parent or godparent or a sibling or a friend of a friend twice removed in the biz to give him the heads-up for a cattle call audition. Never mind that he had no experience– no school play or dinner theater experience on that résumé! When things got bad as they inevitably would, he didn’t whine or have some “adolescent meltdown”. Didn’t run back home to his parents either! Instead, he toughed it out in humiliating jobs, worked his ass off like a third-world immigrant for subsistence wages (wearing a chicken costume in semi-arid Los Angeles climate & standing at a street corner waving a big sign??!!) while schooling himself in the art of movie-making.

Now BP, against all odds, made it to the top of this food chain of twisted values and doubtful realities where “yes” means “no” and vice versa; where they build you up to tear you down; where back-stabbing is an art form; where you are only as good as your last box office returns; where the minutiae of your life become the cottage industry for yellow journalism and keeping your focus while being pilloried and filleted by a whimsical and fickle public. This guy stayed in the game without selling his soul, played against type when it was easier and more profitable to exploit his good looks. We all know that he has enjoyed himself in the process, …didn’t say he was a saint…He obviously imbibes yet we’ve never heard of any DUI arrests, no drunken brawls, no over-night stays in the pokey, no racist diatribes, no ego-driven maniacal outbursts at co-workers, no unaccounted for bambinos with his DNA running around, no paternity lawsuits, no spousal abuse allegations, no sexual harassment charges, no Heidi Fleiss black book, no “brown only m&m” contracts, no wandering into some stranger’s bed to sleep off a drug-related stupor, no holding up production because…I’m a star, dammit! & no assaulting of employee or hotel worker with telephones or battering the paparazzi either. In other words, never heard, “Brad Pitt, the Defendant”! So what if he has some harmless frat-boy tendencies? Paul Newman (RIP) had one foot in the grave while he was “punking” Robert Redford. Jack Nicholson, anyone? How about Dustin Hoffnan, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Burt Reynolds, The Rat Pack, George Clooney, Ashton Kutcher, etc…?

What we have witnessed is a man who made some smart choices with his life- a life which he seems to be living fully, joie de vivre, if you will. He has judiciously invested in real estate, art, intellectual properties & a production company, parlayed $325 into a multi-million dollar enterprise, without the aid of Ponzi schemes, while giving something back to the society which, in a way, enabled his success. On top of that, Pitt has conscientiously pursued other art forms such as photography, jewelry design & architecture attaining respectable levels of competence. He seems to possess an intuitive intelligence in knowing what is good for him in his self-actualization; who he lets into his inner circle (no traitors need apply!); in knowing how to develop healthy relationships with people plus a good dollop of humor and charm. So far, not one of his real friends has ratted on him, leaked any unflattering info or any family member cashing in. All his exes, yes ALL, have good things to say which don’t seem contrived. Another thing, Pitt sees no need to explain himself…“You live your life and I live my life… thank you very much.” No wonder under-achievers hate this guy!

I saw the pix of Gerry Butler on Jared’s homepage. Egads. He’s looking rough. He’s nowhere near as good looking as he was in LC:TCOL. I’m still laughing at X wanting so badly to work with someone who knows and worked with Angie. If the movie does get made, I wonder how long it’ll take her to start pumping him about Angie? LOL!
.
PS - Becky, this is my second post in the last 5 minutes…just helping you with your counting…

well said. his father said the same thing. don’t remember the exact thing (at BB premier) but his father said that he is very proud of him. came to hollywood not knowing any one and did what he did that’s pretty amazing. regardless, his career continue to do well if not better. how can haters call him a failure. many actors didn’t make it to where brad is now. you wrote a very nice piece and very true about him. that’s why i continue to be his fan.
