Johnny Depp Covers Vanity Fair July 2009
Johnny Depp flashes a smile for the cover of the July 2009 issue of Vanity Fair.
The 45-year-old actor’s interview covers a wide range of topics from Elizabeth Taylor (“She’s an astonishingly great broad,” he says) to the price of happiness, “Money doesn’t buy you happiness, but it buys you a big enough yacht to sail right up to it.”
Depp’s hobbies include reading, playing guitar, and painting. “What I love to do is paint people’s faces, y’know, their eyes,” he says. “Because you want to find that emotion, see what’s going on behind their eyes.”
The VF photo spread shows off Depp’s 45-acre private Bahamian island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay, which includes six different beaches.

Love Johnny! Simply can’t wait to see Public Enemies which was filmed in my neck of the woods. He was such a nice guy to the public here. . Wish him every happiness @ home and every success @ work.

Johnny looks awful! For one thing, he’s altered his face. Where did those cheekbones come from? The doctor’s office, I’d say. When you know how much these pictures are touched up, you gotta wonder where the beautiful boy has gone. But that’s alright. I’d like to see more people being their natural age in Hollywood. Those cheekbones bother me though.

Better looking? Are you kidding me. This picture is not flattering at all. I REMEMBER what he use to look like. It’s not that he just looks older which I would expect; his skin looks nasty and speckled. What’s up with that? It’s probably how he really looks and that the picture isn’t photo shopped. If so, BRAVO, but he’s not gorgeous by any means. He’s a wonderful actor though.

LOVE HIM! But that cover is awful. Maybe it’s because we have not seen him for awhile, but he looks cross between Micky Rourke and Asian. AND PLEASE leave Brad Pitt out of this! geez why do you need to compare. There both good looking, rich and famous in there on way.
Not a very flattering pic - but then Johnny has never been concerned about his looks. He’s one of the few ‘goodlooking’ actors in Hollywood who isn’t all wrapped up in HOW he looks - and in fact has always downplayed that side of himself.

depp will ALWAYS be hottt regardless of how old he gets (and he still looks amazing) - it’s because he’s got talent in spades. and talent is ALWAYS sexy in a man:) the hottest and greatest talent of his generation (and a few other generations).
although he has the box office draw that would equate him as a movie star, he will be always remembered as an amazing actor FIRST. he keeps it real and he’s so goddmn funny (see his interview on lettermen) without even trying.

I think you have clearly lost your mind. This man is like a fine wine, he gets better and better with age and I believe he is one of the few who has done nothing to hold back the hands of time…he is prime choice.
Thats just freaky what he said about reading and playing guitar and loving to paint faces cause that’s what i love to do except with pencils not with paint… man freaky.
