Emile Hirsch is Hamlet, Rejoins Catherine Hardwicke

Emile Hirsch is set to star in a new modern-day adaptation of Hamlet

The 24-year-old actor will be re-teaming with his Lords of Dogtown director Catherine Hardwicke, who most recently helmed the smash hit Twilight.

Producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen credit Emile with coming up with the idea for the modernized version of the Shakespeare classic.

Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) will adapt the story for its new setting in contemporary America.

dude must be rolling in his grave.

i really am too negative. emile hirsch is also a big douche but hopefuly they do hamlet justice. who allows these stories to become movies. doesn’t he have a trust or something that can block the machine of hollywood from adapting his entire cannon…or once it’s in the public it becomes the right of the public. if that’s true…as an artist, i would never put up with that bull. for people to misappropriate my works and do whatever they want with them. gah.

Lainey from LaineyGossip said he’s extremely obnoxious and cocky.. I wouldn’t be surprised. He’s so short and unattractive.. if he was better looking, I’d cut him some slack.

ahahahaaa rita. gosh. lol. hahahaaaa. i can hardly type cause i’m laughing, but i couldn’t just leave your comment because i had pointed out a girl in the kelly clarskon thread who said “Don’t be surprised if she ends up g@y.”…does being short and unnattractive make him a big douche? i hope not.

Catherine and Emile are great. She directed him in Lords of Dogtown which is a great movie. I’m sure this will be interesting.

He just does not hit me as a ‘Hamlet’. He may have come up with the idea but the casting will be wrong. Just like Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo in Romeo & Juliet was really bad. The whole movie was ridiculous. I’m sorry but I doubt this movie will not stand a chance to get any real audience.

they’re ruined hamlet millions of times, this will be no different. i don’t even know why they would even do ANOTHER hamlet movie.

ummmmm everything about this is wrong. and its been done before, so it’s not like it’s even unique. type “Ethan Hawke” and “Hamlet” into google to see a case in point atrocity.

unless by “Hamlet modern day adaptation” they mean they are using the basic plot but completely changing it like She’s the Man and Twelfth Night.

It’s not really that cut/dry when it comes to Emile. He is the typical short cocky actor, but I don’t think it’s because he’s full of himself. I think he just means business. This film will probably suffice to something good, I mean it’s not like it isn’t catchy, come on kids.

He’s a very good actor

eh i dont really like any of them

I love Emile so much. Very talented young man. As for Miss Hardwicke, thats another story…. *coughtwilightsuckscough*

don’t be fooled by the utter shittyness of twilight- Catherine Hardwicke is a cool director and emile knows what he’s doin. I look forward to a shakespeare adapt

Emile reportedly helped to conceive this latest adaptation of HAMLET.

KUDOS to him.

He’s branching out, now isn’t he?

Well done …

Time will tell how well this will translate to the screen.

agggggggggh. i love emile.
dont like her though -_-

This is going to completely ruin shakespeare!

I’d say the jury is out on this one. I doubt I’ll be rushing out to see it though.
