Angelina Jolie Takes Time Magazine

Angelina Jolie Takes Time Magazine

Angelina Jolie takes to Time Magazine to voice her case against Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, who has been indicted on seven counts of war crimes and five counts of crimes against humanity.

The 33-year-old refugee advocate writes, “Friday is a defining moment in the history of justice. The members of the United Nations Security Council will be presented with the results of the International Criminal Court’s Darfur investigation — an investigation that they requested. Their response will determine whether there is going to be an international standard of justice that holds perpetrators accountable for the worst crimes in the world.”

She continues, “Today the Security Council member states will be faced with a simple decision — to embrace impunity or to end it. As they are considering Bashir’s fate they are also considering their own.”

love the jolie-pitt @ 06/05/2009 at 12:18 pm

thank jj for the new thread. i will always like Angie no matter what low life people write.
.
Angie is strong woman and no matter amount of tabloid, negativity, hater comment can’t bring her down.
.
she is great and i admire her.

Bravo, Angelina! Keep fighting the good fight!

go after bush for war crimes and you’ll have my love

no puede ser más hermosa ésta mujer!!!!!!!!!

she’s 34 not 33.

Not impressed by JA @ 06/05/2009 at 12:24 pm

KEARNIE @ 06/05/2009 at 12:16 pm Personally, I love the fact that since the Oscar, Angelina has not been seen alot other than on the set, has not done something or spoken/responded to anything to do with the entertainment media. It has been Associated Press at the Hague(re: International Court) and several articles in the Times magazine.

All have nothing to do with the entertainment but her activism. Wonder if this a sign of things to come?

I always thought that by the time she’ll turned 50, she will go to college to persue a political sciences kind of path, will speak three languages and will embrace a more definite social political type of core business while doing once in a while a movie a la ‘Changeling’.
-
I have read somewhere, a long time ago, that she would love to do a french movie once she masters french better.
-
I won’t be astonished that she end up in politics in matters related to social, humanitarian ones.

This is an important issue that Angie is addressing. And the haters are worrying about how her skin looks and the way she dresses…I forgot you guys idolized an empty hair mop TV girl. Grow the fu*k up and stop being so hateful and bitter. You are wasting energy for being so unhappy.

POR FAVOR SI NO TIENEN ALGO BUENO QUE DECIR VAYAN A OTRO LADO!!!!!!!!!!

alright @ 06/05/2009 at 12:22 pm go after bush for war crimes and you’ll have my love

you don’t want to know how happy i was when i heard there was an australian university that was dedicating their entire law class to this matter. i doubt it will happen, but it doesn’t hurt to try. just like someone pointed out in the aj happy bday thread that people don’t remember when angelina was pretending to be a vampire and sticking her tongue down bbt mouth…something like that. people shouldn’t worry. things are recorded down and become history. people have VERY long memories. why do you think so many people are worried about this war breeding the next osama. you don’t forget and i bet you the kids growing up on the other side of the world won’t forget either. we’re a product of our environments/communities and that contributes to the problems of prolonging certain world mentalities.

back to loving the jolie. thanks shiloh for making my lakers and pens win (to ebmo). now keep it going and i’ll give you permanent spot as cutest celeb baby ever.

Yet again she’s making a difference

I love how she always bring focus on the plight of the oppressed children in Sudan otherwise they’re all forgotten. She is a great spokesman for UNHCR.

Angelina is truly so amazing. She’s the most beautiful person ever, inside and out. An amazing actress, sure, but an even better mother, partner and, well, person. She’s incredible.
I hope she had a great birthday yesterday and celebrated with her wonderful family.
Keep doing what you do, Angie!

This is why many love Angie. The woman is not superficial, she does not care about what is written about her or how many millions she makes. She cares about the sufferings of others and those displaced. She fights for justice for these people and that is one of the reasons many love and will continue to love her. There is no other actress like her. She is gorgeous inside and out and God will always protect her and her family.

we are in angie heaven this day…….haha

Shakirakitten @ 06/05/2009 at 1:05 pm

Thank goodness we have Angelina Jolie to stand up and remind lawmakers that these atrocities have gone on for too long and there must be an end and a reckoning.

Congratulations to AJ for being recognized for another achievement.
She just keeps on giving. Happy belated birthday to the Jolie and more blessings to the Jolie-Pitt family.
I was reading some of the previous JP threads regarding the three movies regarding the concept of the baster movie to have a baby. These three movies are being made by JLO, JA, and Halle Berry all at the same time. This is a sensative subject, so why would three of them do these movies at the same time? Could this be the reason the production of the movie management stop so suddenly? Would someone please explain this to us? Where’s PT when you need her?
Thanks in advance for an explanation.
Peace

I really really admire here. I know she isn’t perfect and has made some mistakes (who hasn’t?), but she is a really a force for good in the world.

Are you guys keeping up with the tennis score? Roger needs to get his act together - pronto! He’s down 2 sets to 1and played a really crappy 3rd set. Makes me glad I didn’t set my DVR and am only getting the live score updates while I’m at work…

JJ - thanks for this thread….

I love Angelina for many, many reasons but the main one is for her wondrous heart and her generous spirit. What she has done and continues to do on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves, is amazing to me; and I truly believe that the case re atrocities committed in Darfur by Bashir will not be as easily dismissed by the UN Security Council with more people aware of their role and upcoming decision … and that is thanks to her!

thelookoflove1365 @ 06/05/2009 at 1:37 pm

Thank you Angie for the voice of support to those who can’t speak. This is one of the reasons why I admire this woman. Her tireless effor to help in any way she can is very admirable.

Also, I wasn’t enthusiastic about that Forbes award/recognition she received. Why? Because didn’t Forbes bestowed X some kind of title too a few years back? Angie deserve this recognition, but does X? So Forbes does not have good track record. I think they just want some hits/sales. I think Angie does not even care about title; she’s happy to be a MOM and a partner. JMHO!

I love AJ for her tireless work with UNHCR.
The UN Refugee Agency - a two-time Nobel Peace Prize winner - provides protection, shelter, emergency food, water, medical care and other life-saving assistance to 32 million people worldwide, who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and persecution. When possible, UNHCR helps refugees and other displaced people return to their homes voluntarily, safely, and with dignity.

Roger won the 4th set 6-1. He better play the same way in the 5th or I’m going to France and kicking his ass!
