OlderNeil Patrick Harris Hosts 2009 Tony Awards
Neil Patrick Harris attends the 2009 Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 7) in New York City.
If you’re on the East Coast, tune into CBS now!!! The opening number started off with Elton John singing and Billy Elliot boys dancing. It then moved onto the casts of West Side Story, Guys & Dolls, Rock of Ages (with Poison’s Bret Michaels, Pal Joey, Next To Normal, Shrek, 9 to 5 (with Dolly Parton), Liza’s at the Palace (with Liza Minnelli), and Hair!
Basically all of Broadway was on stage at Radio City Music Hall during the opening number. Standing O!
NPH joked, “I’m told that was the biggest and most expensive number in the history of the Tony Awards… And that is why I am the host tonight (tilts head).”
P.S. I was lucky enough to attend the Tony’s rehearsals earlier this morning and you’ll want to stick around for the closing number. Let’s just say it involves NPH! More tweets from the rehearsals @jaredeng.

Watched the entire show and Neil Patrick Harris was fabulous as the MC! He was witty charming and the song he did at the end of the show was terrific. He is a truly gifted and talented actor and singer!
That was a super choice by the committee to put him in that position. GREAT JOB!
I watched the Tony’s and saw Brett Michaels get clocked by a lowering
stage prop. He was hit in the head and fell backward. It literally knocked his hat off. Does anyone know if he is okay.
