Angelina Jolie - World Refugee Day PSA
For this year’s World Refugee Day on June 20th, Angelina Jolie recorded a public service announcement (PSA) to draw attention to the plight of the millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes because of war or persecution.
The 34-year-old UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador actress says in the PSA, “Please don’t turn away. Refugees are the most vulnerable people on earth. Every day, they are fighting to survive. They deserve our respect. Please do not forget them. Remember them on this day. World Refugee Day.”

mm @ 06/15/2009 at 1:27 pm Angie recorded a public service announcement (PSA) to draw attention to herself. A lot of celebrities give their time and money, not all of them advertise it as well as she does.

If you give a tenth of the time you spend hating, you will make a difference and the world will be a better place. Instead of hating, do something fruitful with your time, you will be happier and much better human being. Angie is an incredible person, all the hate in this world cannot change that. She is very much loved by her fans and millions of people all over the world. Her heart is in the right place. God bless our Angel.
it’s great when celebrities don’t think just in paparazzis cloth and all of that ..she really is a role model..

Introduction
I was asked to write an introduction to my journals, to explain how my journals came to be, why my life took this direction, and why I decided to start it.
As I try to find the answers, I am sure of one thing: I am forever changed. I am so grateful I took this path in my life, thankful that I met these amazing people and had this incredible experience.
I honestly believe that if we were all aware, we would all be compelled to act.
So the question is not how or why I would do this with my life. The question is, how could I not?
Many nights I sat awake reading stories and statistics about national and international tragedies.
I read about UNHCR:
• More than twenty million refugees exist today.
• One-sixth of the world’s population lives on less than one dollar a day.
• 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
• One-third of the world has no electricity.
• More than 100 million children are out of school.
• One in six children in Africa dies before the age of five.
I read about different organizations that do humanitarian work. I had been reading about Sierra Leone when I was in England. When I got back to the States it was difficult to follow the stories, so I called USA for UNHCR and asked if they could help me understand the situation there and similar situations elsewhere in the world. Three weeks later I was in Sierra Leone.
I don’t know how this will be as a book, how readers will find it. I am not a writer. These are just my journals. They are just a glimpse into a world that I am just beginning to understand, a world I could never really explain in words.

Angelina Jolie’s: Notes from My Travels

I love that book. I wish she would write another one.
Awhile back Angelina visited and spoke with misplaced refugees. The very people keeping them contained in these camps were angry that Angelina reported it. They were affraid if they released these people they’d take their jobs and invaid their homes, etc. How sad. I also admire Angelina for attending the hearing on the man behind making children go to war. So many great things she’s fighting for.
I think that Angelina is very focused in her humanitarian work. Although compassionate by nature, her causes are clear cut. She is not “all over the place” like some would like to believe. She is very specific in where she spends her valuable time and money on.
Now, there’s a real woman to be proud of. Thank you Angie! While others are taking jabs at past boyfriends and picking up fake awards, you are doing something, once again, for humanity. We love you Angie!
And my goodness what a face! She is so beautiful, she looks like a Greek statue. Stunning woman!
@eat it:
You’re an idiot, better get out from this thread and go to fug, your idol’s thread. She needs your support now especially when the biggest bomb of HW mismanagement was a great disappointment.

Not much to say.. Thank Jared.. among all the stories of people shopping, getting awards for nothing, singing/dancing, who is dating who…This is a thread worthy of our attention.
I accept that some people don’t like her.. their choice.. but one thing is a fact.. She walks the talk.. She has been doing this close to 10 years. World leaders, Presidents and other humanitarians respect her.. they listen to her.. That says a lot.. And that has nothing to do with her personal life or professional life.. This is her passion.. She stands strong and true to it.
So proud to be a fan..
Can we take the negative to another thread.. Leave this one for the cause she is trying to highlight.. It would make a nice change
@Nahla:
To Nahla - you’re another idiot. Angelina didn’t advertised or show off all the good things she does for less fortunate people. It’s those people who have received her generosity who are the ones recognizing the great efforts she does. Unlike your idol, the fug who always makes it a point that even when she f*rts she informed everyone, Angelina is doing it without telling anyone. But the media and the people involved who have benefited her kindness and generosity are the ones informing the public as a way of showing their gratitude.
@deena: omg, i love that song too. cool, we both got good taste in music. do you have it on CD? hahahahahaha..

She plays many roles onscreen, but Angelina Jolie never loses sight of her important role as a concerned global citizen and active UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. The dedication to her craft that garnered Angelina an Academy Award for her performance in Girl, Interrupted (1999), is reflected in her efforts for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), a UN agency that currently assists 20 million refugees in approximately 120 countries.
Angelina’s involvement with UNHCR began with a mission to Sierra Leone, a small African country that - like the Democratic Republic of the Congo - has been devastated by years of brutal civil war. Seeing firsthand the enormous challenges that refugees face was a life-altering experience for Angelina, who decided to use her fame to aid their cause. In 2001, she was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
Although only 28, Angelina’s acting career has already spanned two decades. Her first feature role was in Lookin’ to Get Out (1982), a film co-written and co-produced by her father, the acclaimed actor Jon Voight. Since then, she has received Golden Globe Awards for the television movies George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998) and her film credits include Hackers (1995), The Bone Collector (1999), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003).
As a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina uses her status as a superstar to generate media coverage about the plight of refugees and the conditions under which they live. She has traveled widely to remote refugee camps and receiving centers in countries including Tanzania, Namibia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Thailand, and Ecuador. To further raise awareness, she has released her personal journals for select field visits that can be accessed at USA for UNHCR. For her efforts, Angelina has been honored with the Church World Service Immigration and Refugee Program Humanitarian Award.
While hosting What’s Going On? Angelina was inspired by the stories of the Fataki brothers, Echa Nyange and Sofia Mocke, all children living at the Lugufu refugee camp in Tanzania.
Tragically, their stories are all too familiar to Angelina, who has met thousands of men, women, and children forced to flee from their homes and struggle to survive as refugees. “You go to these places and you realize what life’s really about and what people are really going through,” says Angelina. “These people are my heroes.”
As fans of this amazing and inspiring woman. I hope that we can all make a donation to help these amazing and courageous people rebuild their lives.

Angie when we will work together on Tomb Raider I promise you I will give my paycheck to the world in need!
She’s such an amazing human being!!! To be doing this for almost 10 yrs she’s no doubt cares deeply for these unfortunate refugees. I can’t wait to hear her interview this Thursday. Angelina is truly remarkable IMO!!!!!!!!!!
The modern evil Jezebel of Hollywood and society.
@porcia:
And your idol fug has nice voice? Probably you’re not aware that fug’s voice sounds like she is always drunk. Fug’s throat seems to be in trouble all the time, ‘coz of too much cocaine that she snorts, cigarettes that she smokes and all other drugs that she’s taking (although she denies it), that’s why her face looks miserable. Sooner or later your idol fug will have cancer because of her bad habits.
