Bruno Covers ‘GQ’ Magazine July 2009

Sacha Baron Cohen hilariously takes the July 2009 cover of GQ magazine as his naked alter ego, gay Austrian fashion journalist Bruno. In the issue, Bruno answers your burning sartorial questions. Here’s a few LOL celebrity-related ones:

Dear Brüno, how can I get some “Efron hair”? Or at least some “Pattinson hair”? Ich vouldn’t bother getting a Zac Efron hairstyle right now, cos ich am about to change mine and he’s certain to copy me again. In terms of grooming, ze only thing he hasn’t copied me with ist getting his ballensack pierced— vell, he hadn’t had it done ze last time ich saw him.

Dear Brüno, what do you sleep in? In reality, ich sleep in a seaweed body wrap
under a Zac Posen Navy-Cut Nightshirt. In mein dreams, ich sleep naked in a giant reed basket drifting slowly down ze Nile, cradled in ze arms of Daniel Radcliffe.

Dear Brüno, is it okay to “manscape” down there? It’s more zan okay; it is most essential. Be careful if you do it yourself, though—yesterday ich tried to self-wax mein arschenhaller
und glued meinself to ze bed. Manscaping ist important, but not as crucial as getting regular anal bleaching. If Brüno didn’t get his schmutziger arschenhaller bleached twice a month, his shtinker vould resemble Dizzy Gillespie during a trumpet solo. In Austria anal bleaching ist considered so important zat it’s paid for by ze state. In fact, you cannot run for office if you don’t have a vhite arschwitz. Indeed, ex-chancellor Kurt Waldheim vas elected on ze back of a prishtine anus. Zere are added benefits to getting ze bleaching—on my last session, mein beautician, Klaus, found ze long-lost head of a David Beckham action figure up zere.

Bigoted a##hole @ 06/16/2009 at 4:37 pm

I’m amazed this bigot has a career. Not only is he monumentally crass and untalented, but it’s obvious he’s taking shots at every culture many in his own culture despise. Let’s see, Sacha is Orthodox Jewish. The first character he created was supposed to be representative of a nation that is primarily Islamic. That character is was a low-class moron. Now he takes shots at Austria, who was annexed by the Nazis in WW2. From the previews it looks like he’s making Austrians look like freaks. Throw in the insulting portrayal of gays and it’s obvious to detect the pattern with this guy. He’s a Nazi of a different kind and each ticket he sells lets him get away with it.

Don’t give this bigot your money. I hope the people who are suing him take him for every cent he’s swindled spreading his hatred. Hatred isn’t funny.

@PP: lol, thats whose hair that is, i was wondering where have i seen that hair, thought it was zac lol

he’s a lil bit more funny than usual
i keep saying im not gonna like this new film, but i guess it might be ok
i still dont think it will live up 2 the greatness of borat

SBC is bold, brave and outrageous. His execution is blatant on purpose. Satire is by definition sarcastic and offensive in its mocking and it hits everything and everyone…no topic and noone is safe. SNL has been using satiric humor for years and it originally was not accepted, now it’s mainstream. Humor varies from person to person and his humor is certainly not for everyone. Good for him for shaking up conventional and traditional comedy and for the courage to be different in his approach.

He and Jennifer Aniston could be twins.

I’m not easily chock but this man scare and chock the hell out of me. Just looking at him I get the point, too much clothes are ok.

The guy is great! IMHO, his humor is getting straight to the point… btw, check out this Bruno tees at http://www.teesunleashed.com. Very nice..

Lmao. “Cradled in the arms of Daniel Radcliffe….” LOVE IT!!! He’s so freakin’ Hilarious!!! I love it!!! :D

your are so bloody hilirous and so talented! i still cannot get over borat x lol

HAHAH, IT REMINDED ME OF JENNIFER ANISTON’S NAKED COVER…

THATS NOT A COMPLIMENT.

looks better than that other gq naked cover…cough cough!

the difference between SBC and Ben Stiller is that SBC isn’t scripted. The reason why his popularity is at an all time high is because it looks into the deeper underlying truths of society - that we prejudge people and show our true ignorance towards people we deem unworthy of respect based on exterior appearance. his different characters all revolve around that same theme.

I don’t think he’s offending gay people. he’s portraying a character, not an entire group of people. That argument is kind of outdated these days. It’s like saying that George W. Bush makes all straight people look stupid. They are unrelated.

Hahaha, I love this guy! This cover is so funny!

He is so YUCK!

Obviously you don’t get the sociopolitical commentary behind his humor. Guess you’re better off sticking to Leslie Nielsen and Scary Movie. Now turn on your telly, your overlord, Bill O’Reilly beckons.

Lighten up, people. This guy is frigging hilarious. The line about the David Beckham action figure still has me rolling.

I think the straight guys are afraid that if they laugh at him it will make them sound gay. Get over it. If you’re a grown man and afraid of sounding gay because you think something is funny, then you ARE gay. Come out of the closet, get a boyfriend and stop being such a scaredy cat.

I don’t think I’ve ever read an article in GQ before, but I read this one. The photos were hilarious! To me, they make more of a statement about women-oriented fashion magazines than about attitudes about gays. The copy I didn’t find as consistently funny as the photos, but that may be because I don’t follow pop culture closely.

Wait…its gross because he posing as a gay? or is it because of his comedian character? So…if it was a real gay guy people wouldnt say negative things about it but because its bruno its a diferent story then…is that it? Wether I like him as a comedian or not he is just being funny for a movie. Showing the world what its like to be gay. For those who hate him…get over it and hate someone else like the octuplet mom or the british singing fugly woman.

sasha bromo @ 07/13/2009 at 10:26 am

@Lisa: The movie was funny as hell!!! Although it almost petered towards the end… there were a lotta good parts. People are just pissed cause he pokes fun at gay stereotypes. Well gays enforce this stereotype themselves. I should know.

It’s one thing not to find him funny, it’s an altogether different one to not see the torrents of talent he has. And when all you ‘insulters’ complain about him, you come off sounding like complete and utter ********.
