OlderAngelina Jolie: Refugees Give Me New Appreciation For Life
Angelina Jolie appreciates life a whole lot more now thanks to the world’s refugees. Here’s what the 34-year-old actress told Today Show’s Ann Curry:
On her childhood being much different if she’d grown up knowing what she has learned as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador: “I think it would have got me through my youth easier. I would have been less self-destructive… You see people that have suffered things that you will never, ever know. And you know how lucky you are.”
On making sure her children grow up knowing refugee children: “I want them to see it as an area where they can go down the street and play football with those kids and get to know them, and as they grow up seem them as those friends they spent time with. Hopefully I can raise them with a more accurate view of the world than I was raised with, maybe they’ll naturally be better people. And I’m sure my children will be visiting and learning from refugees in the future.”
On agreeing with Brad Pitt that this is one of the happiest times of her life: “I am extememly happy in my life. My children are healthy and it’s one of the most extraordinary times in my life and I’m able to do good things and good work.”
On being the “next Audrey Hepburn”: “I’m lucky to be in this. And I’m sure Audrey Hepburn felt the same. That she was the fortunate one to be able to meet all those kids around the world. You know, we’re just in a very fortunate situation that we get to be able to give a voice to these extraordinary people.”
On having birthday celebrations year-round: “I do have the twins, and I just had Shi in May. We have so many kids that we just have year-round birthdays. It’s a lot of fun now ’cause the older kids are old enough to help plan the birthdays for the younger kids. So it’s one of the great pleasures of life, the birthdays.” (This quote was actually from her speech at the National Geographic Society.)

why to we need to justify to these stupid idiots. it’s none of there business. besides they are too stupid to understand anything that brad and angie did and they don’t want to understand. these trolls will always have negative things to say about brad/angie regardless their intention. brad and angie work hard for their money and they can spend it any way they please. it’s none of our business.
You know I was not a big fan of hers, but she is growing on me. I so admire her compassion. I believe she is a celebrity that truly cares about these children. I still am a big fan of Jennifer Aniston. I think she is truly a nice person. I wish people would stop bbashing both of them and move on.

What i always found weird too is all the bashing concerning her so called controversial youth…I mean, she always strikes me as being imperfect (we all are) butprecocious and mature in her choices of life.
She married at 20 with someone who was young and stayed committed to him two years. She married a second time at 23 and behave the same with her husband. And it seems each time she entered a relationship, she entered it like someone who is more mature than her age and more prone to committed relationships than her peers of the same generation who just want to have fun and enjoy their youth with superficial belongings. She wasn’t the party girl, booze girl like most are at that age. And though she admitted using drugs, we never saw her acting like a druggie. I guess she tested hard drugs at some point but once again, probably for a very punctual time since she never gave signs of addiction, was most of the time into a stable relationhip where she seems drug free and probably decided to gave up quickly, still being in control, hence probably no addiction.
She is always in control, in charge. She married BBT, discovered the sufering of refugees and people all over the world and it just gave her even more maturity. She left that kiddie husband of hers. She was the more mature one to begin with.
Overall, She actually never had an infantile behaviour wether personnally or professionnnally. She never used the physique card at the beginning of her career, like most starlets do, like most models turned actress should do. It seems that she downplayed her physique, cutting her hair, embracing her craft like a professional making people forget right from the beginning that she was a model before. A route that even Brad didn’t take as most of his first role were physical pretty boy model image related more than the one of a method actor.
It seems that all her life choices are made under the precocious or maturity sign. Always in control, always in charge,recovering from growing pains at an age when most people are still searching for themselves, are still struggling to get their act together. Jolie was already on her way to recovering and maturity at 25 and few women in and outside Hollywood, at this age decide to adopt and have a baby they will raise alone. At 25, when you are the new sex symbol you enjoy your title, you party, you bulk, you pamper yourself, you go shopping and choose only movies that glorifies your beauty. You don’t adopt and visit war torn countries to see the unbearable suffering of real people. This is not popular, this is anti publicity, this is anti star behaviour.
Being a goodwill ambassador is no party, not for the fainted heart : you have to have passion, conviction and lots, lots of emotional strength and guts, hence they are usually older with a deep life experience, an experience that Jolie has through her precocious state of mind and ways.
Angie is such a inspirational woman. I haven’t seen her interview with Cooper or Curry. But reading her experienced with a 15 years old boy who made eyes teary…Keep up the amazing work Angie…

Angie looked gorgeous on the Today Show. I see hypocrite Meredith Viera said some favourable things about her. She is one of those media types who was on the “homewrecker” bandwagon in the beginning of Brad and Angie getting together. And as recent as December when the two movies came out, she was having orgasms on the air, reporting that X movie beat Brad’s. She is another b*tch
Angie will continue to inspire with her generosity and compassion, no matter what the haters say.
As for X, she is becoming a joke. How many times does the public need to be subjected to her “relationships”? She is on par now with Paris Hilton, Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz, going through men like tissues. THe difference is these other women are younger, and probably more interesting.
Jared, you are the best and always post the newest and best on Angelina Jolie. Love you for it. She is a great woman, a great mother and an inspiration to the world.

You know X and Huvane had at least 2 weeks to set up this date with Closet Boy to coincide with World Refugee Day. Even if they didn’t know Angie’s plans for the day - which I think they did - they knew that Angie’s name would be prominently bandied about because refugees are her main interest. They probably started planning this little salvo after she ran into BC at the misManagement party a in early May and the gossip pages automatically had them getting hitched. As soon as Bradley Cooper’s movie hit #1…Huvane started crazy dialing BC’s PR ho. And from BC’s perspective - he’s in the closet. It does him nothing but good to be seen with X chasing after him.

I just loved that Ann Curry reminded everyone else that Angie is now the no. 1 most powerful celebrity and bumping off Oprah to second place.
BTW, I noticed that when the news of FORBES most powerful list came out, AFP (Agence France Press) was the first one to release the news and somehow I could not understand why it took some hours before the news was released to US media.
