Bo Obama: First Dog Of The United States
Check out this cute new portrait of the Obama family dog, a Portuguese water dog name Bo Obama.
President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Malia and Sasha welcomed him into the White House on April 14th. Here’s a few little known facts about the pet pooch:
– Bo’s name came from two different places: Mrs. Obama’s father’s nickname was “Diddley” and Malia and Sasha’s cousins have a cat named Bo — and another cat named Diddley.
– Bo was a gift to the Obama family from Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife, Vicki.
– Even though Bo is a Portuguese water dog, he doesn’t know how to swim!

omg this dog is the cutest thing. It looks like a real mischief maker, but at the same time looks like it would make a great companion. wow the Kenedy’s did a great job with choosing a dog, it’s nice to see that it isn’t some fancy snooty looking dog, it looks like a dog that any average family would have…love it. I hope Bo Obama wins the Kids Choice Award for best pet, I think Bo is a shoo-in for the award. Also I love that name…totally suits it.
Beautiful photos. Dogs are BEST friends and we should take care of them. It is still sad that some stupid people in the world use these beautiful, intelligent and emotional creatures for food and fur……

I wish the kids had been able to pick their own dog; the dog was supposed to be for them. I also think that it was inappropriate for Kennedy to be so presumptious and gift HIS personal favorite breed to the Obamas when they had already said they would adopt. It put the pres. into a very awkward position, as it would anyone, and I’m sure the girls were disappointed. I think this particular dog looks really out of place with the family, poor thing.
