Gerard Butler Puckers Up
Gerard Butler gets into a liplock with his co-star while shooting his new movie, Bounty Hunter, in New York City on Firday (June 19).
The 39-year-old Scottish stud will be filming scenes with his friendly co-star, Jennifer Aniston, in Atlantic City this summer.Jen, however, has been hanging out with former Jack & Bobby star, Bradley Cooper. We’ll see if it works out!

If the on-set pics keep coming and posted the way they have been, we would know what the movie is like by the end of the 3 month shoot.

I hate to say it, but this guy looks like one of those infamous people who looks like nothing if you see them in real life, but looks fabulous on the big screen. I’ve seen him on screen and he looks gorgeous. But every photo from this shoot he looks…ummm… tragic! He does have a hot body but the way he mawks his face around…it’s really odd. Either he has the IT factor- screen chemistry - or he has some serious detox to do.

The daily reporting on this guy has become tiresome. I realize that he and his people are desperately trying to make him a big star……everywhere he goes he’s trailed by his manager and assistant who take pictures of him and film his every move so the footage and pics can be sent to the media and to his fansites. Meanwhile the fans are duped into believing that he’s a major star with Paps chasing him all over the globe. NOT! He should be wary of courting celebrity so much. It does have a way of backfiring. Hello Overexposure. He should aspire to try to be a good actor and not Kim Kardashian.

Are these pictures of him in character for the film ? I see no charm , class or charisma in the person depicted in these pix. I hope it’s just the character he’s playing that’s coming through.
Whatever , where is the GB that wowed so many at the beginning of his career ? Been absent for a long while. I know some still claim to know ( through some kind of “chanelling “? ) his ” inner soul ,” but I’m not buying it .

The fangurls got what they deserved, Trythis. If they were dumb enough to post photos online of them in bathtubs with Gerry dolls and giving mock blow-jobs to the dolls, then it’s open season on them.

She doesn’t stand to gain anything from being associated with him, whereas he has gotten worldwide press he didn’t have before just by a rumor circulating that they were dating. Same thing with Cameron Diaz when that rumor spread. Cameron looked horrified when they asked her about dating him. Aniston might feel the same way for all you know. He did diss her. Her PR people started a rumor of G and J meeting up for private meetings in an apt in NY but Gerry was in India at the time. It actually was pretty funny.
All the Priyanka gossip did him a huge favour. That’s probably why he never bothered to deny any of the rumours. And according to one of the supermarket rags, he’s apparently no longer good enough for J. So he can shoot the film without any distractions. Other than the hoards of visiting fangirls.

#51 None of you knows that her team said anything to the media. You’re assuming because you don’t like her, most of which seems to be jealousy judging from the comments people have said here. His people could have spread the rumor to get him into the press. She wasn’t having trouble getting publicity pre-Gerry. He was unless he assaulted a photographer. For all any of us know, none of their publicists said anything to anyone and the press made it up on their own because they saw them in discussions about the film. So why do you automatically blame her? Jealousy? Desperation to paint your idol as desired by one of the most famous women in Hollywood? Hatred of women? I guess the latter. ET just mentioned Aniston in The Bounty Hunter. There was no mention of Gerry. BTW, the photos of Gerry and Jennifer at the Oscars or Golden Globes a few months ago looked like he jumped on the photo opportunity, not her. She looked like she was blindsided. In India, he made sure he hung around one of their biggest media stars, Priyanka Chopra.
He is not big enough to be news on his own. Blaming every woman he’s seen around won’t change that. Don’t automatically assume it’s the fault of the women who are more famous than he is.

73, people always think my male best friend is gay because he is kind, gentle and has a lot of female friends, but he is as straight as an arrow. So appearances may be decieving.
When I first saw pics of his apartment, the only thing that caught my attention was how much of the Phantom is in him., which I felt was reflected in his place. It is very very haunting.
I really don’t think he is gay, but if he is, so what? I still think he is hot, sweet and lovely and hope that he settles down at some point with a man or a woman

I find it shallow and superficial that some people liked him 4 or 5 years ago mainly because he was younger and had a better looking face. And they claim they don’t understand why his fans still love this older version of him. I guess these people probably stop loving their parents, spouses and friends because they are “older” and less “pretty”.
There is something deeper than skin. Although a fan’s admiration for a certain celebrity differs from his/her love for loved ones and friends, sometimes this admiration can be intrinsical and long lasting.

However , I do beieve there is a contingent of people here who are concerned about the slide in character , not cheekbones ! Originally , Gerry came across as a quality man , in all departments . I just wish Gerard would move away from these mediocre, boring roles. I have seen him act in much better stuff than this!! In my opinion, he is not fulfilling his potential and if he doesn’t do something about it soon, then I fear he never will. What happened to him playing Rabbie Burns? That would have been fantastic, a worthwhile role at long last. I know the man doesn’t ever let on about what he’s doing next but I hope he has something stunning up his sleeve because I am slowly losing interest in him as an actor. I’ve seen photos of his loft, as well, and I think it is very baroque and beautiful. His apartment in London, I’ve read, is ultra-modern with”clean lines” and muted tones. It’s funny how some of the non-Gerry lovers seem to know so much about his periphery ..homes, choices, etc. As to his acting, in the past few films he played a romantic lead (Gerry Kennedy), a dual role of adventurer/father(Alex Rover/Jack Russoe), and upcoming films: a psycholtic person seeking revenge(LAC), a voice of a Viking (How to Train Your Dragon), the voice of a ship’s captain who goes mad(Tales of the Black Freighter), a soldier in a real/surreal world(Gamer), and now a hard-nosed bounty hunter…Nobody plagues J. Depp for weird Willy Wonka, weird Sweeney Todd, weird Ichabod Crane, weird Scissorhands, and upcoming weird The Mad Hatter. Heis timburtoned to death! Gerard plays different roles that many actors couldn’t play: he can be anything. His looks? I love them!!!! He is very manly, and we’re not sitting next to him as he is very funny in person, I’ve read and seen. An actor acts. Why is it shallow to comment on his looks? The man is an ACTOR.
I am interested in two things from the guy: How he looks, and how he acts. That is it. It’s all about entertaining me - either being eye candy or playing interesting roles and playing them well. So I will comment on both. I don’t know him personally.
I haven’t been impressed with his latest movies. I hope that changes. However, I don’t think that this bounty hunter movie will be the one to impress me. As for his looks, I have to agree with those who have said that they have changed lately. I don’t find him as attractive. He seems more “average” to me now. So, I’m holding out for a good movie and performance to entertain me in the future.

I certainly don’t know anything about his personal life (that he hasn’t told us himself in interviews), but I like what I see on screen and in the interviews I’ve seen.
I still don’t get it. If you don’t like him, why are you here writing long dissertations? There are lots of actors I can’t stand, but I wouldn’t even look at their pictures let alone write anything about them. I avoid what I don’t like. These are comments posted on a public gossip site, in repsonse to photos taken on a movie set - not a private meeting, allegedly photograhphed by his manager/ assistant. Very, very many similar photos are distributed widely to numerous blog, gossip and PR sites etc.The photos shown over the past week are neither private or capturing a candid moment.
The continued broadcast of the stream of photos are a calculated, and IMO cynical PR opportunity by a team, who one has to assume include the man himself, to further his celebrity and status within his business and further calculated to provide his fanbase and detractors aliike opportunities to keep him in ‘the public eye’.
It would therefore seem that it is acceptable to voice any opinion good or bad, in response to items posted on a gossip site from photos provided in this way. ‘Gossip is gossip’ and if untrue could be retracted at any time by his team. The GB team seem to have built this career on the back of ‘internet’ gossip and speculation. It seems a shame that, as many previous posters have noted on numerous threads, that the thirst for celebrity seems to have replaced the thirst and determination to act, which given roles he assumed 4 or 5 years ago, is a pity.

What you would or wouldn’t do is irrelevant. Your long, frequent posts are just as welcome as those with opposing views. I don’t get the negative comments about Gerry’s movies. He’s done a pretty good variety, from romantic, to gangster to thriller genres. I also think Law Abiding Citizen will be great. He plays a disturbed character and that is not easy. The director has also said that he did an amazing job. I think this will be one of the best roles of his life.
Also, he probably knows that he is turning 40, which is like 900 in Hollywood and that’s why he’s doing all these movies to make money. Then he could sit back and choose the more arty roles. I think that makes sense. He is thinking about his future just like the rest of us. Give the man a break.

From I gather here, I notice a few commentators do not dislike GB; they are just rather frustrated with his film choices which, they believe, hinder him from achieving his potentials. But they are very vague as to what his perceived potentials entail. Oscar? Better name recognition? Better roles? More $?
Even an actor in the make-believe land of Hollywood has to move step by step, one film at a time, building up a solid resume, with sweat and hard work, without any help from fairy dust, competing for each “juicy” role. To be a working actor is an accomplishment all by itself.
I seriously doubt GB turned down any good role with good potential for his acting career. You get what you are offered even in Hollywood.
As to the claim that he picks roles just enough to maintain the lifestyle he so enjoys, I don’t know about that. I think GB is more ambitious careerwise than you give him credit for. He will be 40 soon and he had a late start in film. Maybe he does need to factor in financial consideration when picking roles. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Just my bit.

I think he is ambitious careerwise, to a point. Films with Heigl and Aniston, box office names, will certainly get him more publicity and probably the money, but there is no effort required from an acting perspective.
I am curious about Gamer, not necessarily for the acting, but the premise of the film could be interesting. Don’t know about LAC. There are indications the film was “dumbed down” from a psychological drama to an action thriller.
If his string of post-300 flops continues, this could all become a moot point.
The frustration, IMO, is the huge hype orchestrated between Mr Butler’s management and PR team, the rabid fan base (it seems that it is a co-dependant relationship) and what the guy might or may actually and realistically achieve in his career.
The fan base and all the hype seem to be to have recently turned the corner from promoting a new young foreign actor, to drastically overexposing a man who it seems (rather than offering a wide range of roles) has not worked out a genre of movie roles that make him an absolute star and household name. The PR overexposure in all the blogs, and websites and worship sites, whilst very entertainly as a blood sport between fans and other commentators, seem to be quickly turning him from being a new discovery to being a real ‘let down’, both professionally (from a very peculiar resumee over that last short time) and it would appear from the gossip sites - personally (just based on what I read in scanning the gossip pages in general).
When I read here that it is his own management who take the photos and so on (if that is true) and give them to these sites to cause a story, I can say that I find the whole charade very wearisome.
Frustrating - (if I was interested in his career) - Yes, Disappointing, manipulated and puzzling - Very!

It seems like there won’t be one frame of this movie that we haven’t seen by the time the filming is done. If Butler’s own management isn’t snapping the photos and shooting the vids, then the film security is deliberately lax. IMO Butler and Aniston have a great deal in common. Both truly need a hit at this point to stay visible and busy in a business that, sadly, prioritizes youth and looks. I think that grabbing the media spotlight is far more important to both of them than creating a memorable performance in challenging, thought-provoking material. It takes great risk and courage to cloak your own self and disappear into a truly dramatic role. I’ve seen it in Butler’s earlier work, but not for a while now. If he finds his niche in comedy, good for him. Maybe that’s where he’ll find a fit for his abilities at this stage of his life.
Hollywood needs to hire better writers. Good films start with good scripts. Maybe writers need to get paid more. It seems people these days prefer lowering the bar of entertainment standard than going for anything thought-provoking and soul-searching.

True. His people don’t hand over pix to these sites. They send them to photo sites which the gossip/fan sites upload from. Celeb PR often runs through the internet then to traditional entertainment outlets. Non-A listers rely heavily on this “new” media to get attention for clients.
Whatever the actual route that his team feed photos to the web; directly to JJ and others or via a third party, the whole caper still appears calculatingly premeditated, and certainly doesn’t live up to the capture of a candid moment that the pics might suggest.

I heard that last night Butler was playing craps at the Borgata. According to my source, he needs to look like an expert for his film role and he needs a lot of work. He kept throwing the dice off the table. He was playing with his own money but being Scottish that means he was being careful with his funds. He lost his whole wad, $150. No, I didn’t miss any zeros folks. My friend reports that he was the sweetest and nicest celebrity she has ever seen on a game, without any of the “I’m a movie star” baggage. She said he was playing without getting too much attention. I guest the 300 fans don’t recognize him with without his warrior garb. He will be very big later this summer when his romantic comedy with Katherine Heigl, The Ugly Truth, opens. It was on my list of most anticipated films this summer.
Bounty Hunter is an action flick, with Butler playing a bounty hunter who’s hired to retrieve his ex-wife, a journalist who witnessed a murder and has skipped bail, played by Aniston. Bounty Hunter is scheduled to be released in late 2009.

Their stories weren’t removed quickly; just the booty call vid came down right away. The stories they posted on twitter, other then the brunch finger licking and booty call, were really ambiguous and many here just began to think they were referring to G which of course is what they wanted. The weird thing is why the blog, which wasn’t unflattering- other then G’s singing- was taken down just a few weeks ago.
