Michelle Obama Harvests The White House Kitchen Garden
First Lady Michelle Obama harvests with some fifth grade students in the White House Kitchen Garden on the White House’s South Lawn on Tuesday (June 16) in Washington, D.C.
The 45-year-old First Lady later sat down to a meal with the children from Bancroft Elementary School with the lettuce and snap peas harvested from the garden to focus attention on health and nutrition.
“The planting of this garden was one of the first things I wanted to do as first lady at the White House,” she told the students. “You helped make this dream a reality.” 20+ pics inside…

She looks good! You can see in the pics how sweet & sincere she is being with the kids. Smart and compassionate, what a lovely combination. I like the # 10 tongue pic…just shows that even with all her education, accomplishments, and new status…she has remained down to earth.

Funny you should mention the tongue picture.
It reminds me of royalty in Europe—–you’ll never see them eat at functions. They simply do not allow cameras to film while they are eating to avoid unflattering photos like the one of Michelle Obama’s tongue!!

You’d think with all of the people who work for and advise her someone would help her with her choice of clothes.

This is a wonderful project - so proud of her starting an organic garden at the White House. I agree with the previous comment - why have paper plates and cups? Why not also introduce these children to some refinement - they are eating lunch at The White House. I think the staff would have been able to accommodate real plates and glasses for juice.
Hey #24 Laura Bush was a great lady. She spent many years helping many children organizations. She also spent much time in the garden. She just did not feel like she needed to have her picture taken everytime. Do you people really think this is not staged? A camera man just happened to be standing at the white house garden? And Michelle Obama just happened to be dressed this way. Pull your heads out of your ass people. The press kisses the Obama asses and the Obama’s are so into portraying their family as picture perfect. They are nothing but media whores and liars!

Laura Bush was a lovely woman, very classy indeed. If you admire her so much, you would do well to follow her upstanding example and keep your ugly, useless comments to yourself. Though I don’t know Mrs. Bush personally, I remember the warmth she showed Mrs.O, in particular, during the campaign, and I doubt she’d sign on to any of the trash you’ve written here. You’re going to have to deal with it: Michelle Obama is a great woman. Her presence in the White House, the role she has played thus far as First Lady, the way she has engaged the D.C. community and the general public …it’s all just awesome. first off-i’m happy she says that this is an organic garden but then they turn around and ruin that message by eating on syrofoam plates. second, I do a lot of gardening and live in texas where it is much warmer than DC and that garden seems to be way further along than it should be. No way they grew that from seeds as was shown on one of the first photo ops from the garden-yes, the one with the hoe and Michelle wearing NO gloves. You don’t start planting a new garden with a hoe and obviously she didn’t know anything about tilling, etc. Of course, she didn’t actually do the digging. Second photo op showed her in brand spanking new gloves with absolutely no dirt on them lol. She really likes to do the gardening. I’m thinking someone tends the garden and went in and planted plants that were already more mature than seeds as these plants could not be this far along. When I lived in PA and then OH, you were really lucky to have a tomato before July 4rh and that was only if you used Wall of Waters to get an early start. I could be wrong but this garden looks way too advanced for the geographical area and growing season. Nice Photo Op though.
