Johnny Depp is The Mad Hatter — FIRST PICTURE!
Check out this sneak peek look of Johnny Depp as the trippy Mad Hatter from the Tim Burton-directed remake of Alice in Wonderland.
Looks like the leaked photo from November was definitely a real one!
Below is Burton’s wife, Helena Bonham Carter, with a digitally enhanced swelled head to play the domineering Red Queen, who likes nothing better than to scream “Off with their heads!” Thanks, USA Today!

IT’S TIM BURTON! What else should it be?
Whenever Johnny puts on that much make up, he gets really lazy with his acting. He becomes a caricature, instead of a character.
I think I’ll pass.
Also this will be a visually spectacular film, the fact that Tim Burton is once again using the same actors from ‘Sweeney Todd’ will bring limitation on making the film justified. Although Helena is an amazing actress, she plays the same dark, characters in her Husbands movies. Its unfair that she has a collective of work from her husbands films and doesnt strive to want to ‘make it on her own’.
Johnny Depp is an amazing character actor but for me, he structures his roles on the makeup that is given to him. There is too much focus on making him abstract when his acting justifies this.
I cant wait to see it though, but i doubt the relationship between the two characters would have changed much from Depps disasterous role as ‘Willy Wonker’.
