Beyonce Knowles Hits BET Awards 2009
Beyonce sparkles in Balmain on the red carpet at the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (June 28) in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old songstress and rapper T.I. were top contenders for trophies, with a leading five nominations each. She is up for best R&B female, best actress and video of the year.
Beyonce is also expected to perform (she reportedly changed her piece to honor Michael Jackson).

Andrea Bochelli would not sing Ava Maria at Tom and Katie’s wedding in Italy because they were not Catholic. If you want to hear one of the best versions listen to it sung by the tenor Luciano Pavarotti - incredible and with all due respect a few notches above Beyonce.

Actually, I have traveled around the world, where in different cultures Ave Maria and other prayer songs do get changed depending on the culture and how it chooses to celebrate that day. Bad example: You could have a Mariachi band do Ave Maria. I’ve seen a Steel Drum band do prayer songs when I was on a Caribbean vacation.

It is a very unflattering dress, especially with the shoulder pads. It makes her look shoulders look VERY wide and makes her look like she has a stumpy neck.

#32 first off Michael was not Catholic so she was singing that song for herself. Ave Maria is a prayer..Hail Mary full of Grace the lord is with thee…….. Michael Jackson never believed in Saints, he was a Jehovah’s Witness so singing Ave Maria as a tribute to him doesn’t make any sense to me. It’s a beautiful prayer and song and she in my opinion really disrespects it by singing it with a veil and a leotard, hey it’s just my opinion, if others enjoyed it and made them feel good I have no problem with that., everyone has the right to feel the way they feel., i’m outta here.

There are many versions by many famous historical composers but the one thing in common is that they are all, without question, the Hail Mary prayer. It is not by any means a romantic song and it is 100% religious. Do a little research about what your saying before you insult someone.
Okay, so I’m going to keep it real. I love Beyonce but, that dress is tacky and she really looks like she rolled out of bed and went straight to the BET Awards. She is still a gorgeous and fantastic woman to say the least but this was not a good look for her. I guess if I had her crazy schedule and status, I would be (and look) tired as well. i was very dissappointed in beyonce this year. dont get me wrong , her oice is beautiful, and the song was good, but wtf was she wearing..a freakin umrella dress. still love her though..no hating her because shes my idol. i was kind of hoping she would have performed single ladies or ego, or some faster song. she could have did both ave maria and single ladies and it would have been good. but over all her performance was ok. wasnt her best though.
