OlderMichael Jackson’s Father Talks Record Label At BET Awards
Three days after his son Michael Jackson death, 80-year-old Joe Jackson hits the red carpet the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (June 28) in Los Angeles.
Towards the end of his interview with CNN, Joe took the opportunity to promote his new business venture, a record label. Watch the interview below! The record label talk starts around the 3:15 mark.
And here is the statement one of the family’s publicists read during the interview: “Our beloved son Michael Jackson loved you all. Michael’s children are our first priority. We will have further announcements to discuss our plans going forward. Until such time, however, we have the personal and legal authority to act, and solely Katherine and I have authority for our son and his children. We wish to handle his memory and legacy with dignity. The attorney for the Jacksons is L. Londell McMillan and no one has the authority to speak on behalf of the Jackson family at this time.”

Wow, it didn’t take him long to get into the limelight. And people were worried about Debbie Rowe following the money trail of her children. She has already said she isn’t going to seek custody of the children, but here Joe Jackson is acting as if HE’S the celebrity. He should be ashamed of himself. Good luck to those kids, they’re going to need it.

I was never a fan of Michael’s, but feel sad about his death. I don’t think he ever had the chance to be a child and live a normal life. He obviously suffered from Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), as evidence of his changing look. Hopefully he is able to happy and free from all that pain now. He did go the route of Elvis, and that is sad.
I love how the guy presenting with Sherry Shepard from the view said , ” our hearts go out to Katherine Jackson.” he totally ignored joe’s lame ass!
This is a crying shame. This man acts as if his son didn’t die a few days ago. He’s out promoting HIMSELF and seeking the limelight. Where was he before Michael died? People were worried that Debbie Rowe was going to seek custody for the money, but she ’s already said she doesn’t want the children, leave it to a member of Micheal’s family to show how classless he is. Most father’s would be home mourning their loss, but I guess it wasn’t any great loss to him.
He’s going to be a great disciplinarian for Micheal’s kids. Who’s going to stop him? No one stopped him when he was beating Michael. I don’t agree with all this idol worship of Michael, but at the very least the man owes his son some RESPECT.
I’ve just reserved a sit for him next to me.
Lets pray that Joe and Katherine don’t raise Michael’s children. Will this be the next generation of abuse victims? That would just be criminal!
OMG! He is still an A** at 80 years old. Thank God Michael is finally at peace! I could not believe the CNN interview as I watched it live…promoting his own record deal when his son just dropped dead two days early. How sad! Michael RIP finally!
Joe Jackson is and has always been an a$$!!! that interview really pissed me off. he was more interested in himself than his own son’s death. i’ve always thought and still think that Joe is the reason for the way Michael turned out. I don’t know how he can even take credit for all of Michael’s success. that was the work of God. Michael is in a better place now, and i’m so glad he’s away from this man and is with his real Father now. rest in peace Michael Jackson. you will always be the King of Pop. no one can ever replace that man.

Michael was a genius….truly the best entertainer I’ll ever remember. I wish we could have seen him make a come back. I look at the clips of Michael as a little boy. He was so sweet and innocent. This monster robbed him of that and made him feel horrible about himself and unable to cope with the world. There aren’t even words to explain Michael’s talent. It’s so sad that he couldn’t just enjoy his success. Instead he lived his life with emotional torture and demons, thanks to his “Dad”.
