Three days after his son Michael Jackson death, 80-year-old Joe Jackson hits the red carpet the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (June 28) in Los Angeles.
Towards the end of his interview with CNN, Joe took the opportunity to promote his new business venture, a record label. Watch the interview below! The record label talk starts around the 3:15 mark.
And here is the statement one of the family’s publicists read during the interview: “Our beloved son Michael Jackson loved you all. Michael’s children are our first priority. We will have further announcements to discuss our plans going forward. Until such time, however, we have the personal and legal authority to act, and solely Katherine and I have authority for our son and his children. We wish to handle his memory and legacy with dignity. The attorney for the Jacksons is L. Londell McMillan and no one has the authority to speak on behalf of the Jackson family at this time.”

A psychologically and physically abusive “little man” (cause of most of Michael Jackson’s adult challenges) who hasn’t once referred to MJ as his son but the “great super star or ‘King of Pop’”. He’s still looking forward to cashing in on that once precious and young talent. Where were the parents when Michael Jackson’s life began unravelling? Shame on him…he’s a hog who surrounds himself with the black mafia.
Joe Jackson “used” his son Michael in life and he is still using him in death. Did you hear him say anything about LOVING him? All I heard was “we have lost a super star”. I don’t care from Joe at all!
Michael was very vocal about how great his mother was throughout his life and how much he loved her. I believe he and his father were on good terms later in life and Michael said in an interview within the last few years that he can now appreciate the sacrifices both his father and mother made for their children so it seems like he was in a good place with their relationship and tried to heal their past. The Jackson family is known for priding themselves on their strength and Joe Jackson never wants to appear weak. I’m sure he will miss his son although they were not close and didn’t understand each other. However, Joe seemed like the one “on something” during the whole interview and it is sad he didn’t talk about Michael as his son instead of a superstar. I think Joe always wanted to be in the limelight and the only way he could be is through Michael and the Jackson 5. It was definitely not the time to walk the red carpet or promote anything, that was just bizarre. Michael always said he loved his family and that family was everything to him. You will be missed Michael, thank you for the memories. I hope you are free of your suffering and unhappiness and that you found your childhood. You are gone too soon and in a such a tragic way. You made people happy and will continue to do so with your music that will live on for everyone to enjoy. God bless you and have mercy on your soul.

woah. didn’t he used to beat on his kids all the time? highly doubt that any judge is going to give him custody.
This heartless zombie and his complicit wife are supposed to raise Michael’s three children? Poor Michael will be turning in his grave! I hope a different arrangement is reached, and I hope this jerk is appropriately cast to the side by the media and the courts for his behavior.

You ignorant person. Al and Jesse are family friends of the Jackson’s. They go back decades. They are there for their friends. That’s what friends do.
I sure hope Mrs. Jackson and her adult children stand up to Joe Jackson this time. His children are grown now; they can protect their mother and Michael’s darling little children from that stupid Joe Jackson. I was also surprise at Al Sharpton being at the award’s show with Joe Jackson acting as if nothing had happened. Rev. Sharpton should have been with Michael’s mother and the rest of the family. I felt so sorry for janet my heart went out to her poor child, I know what she is going through. . Now we see what poor Michael was talking about and what he had to endure with that no good man.

Joe Jackson promoting his business venture 3 days after the death of his son is TERRIBLE. No matter how Al Sharpton tries to justify it. There was just a press conference today Monday 6-29, where he did it again and some guy got up and talked about his record label. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A RECORD FROM JOE JACKSON OR ANYONE HE PROMOTES - EVER. And guess what Joe, none of us will. You were inappropriate and it shows what little you thought of your son. My father would never do that to me because he loved me, and if anything ever happened to me he would not be out at an awards show promoting his new business. You are DISGUSTING !!!
