OlderTV Pitchman Billy Mays Found Dead at Home
Infomerical pitchman Billy Mays has died, Tampa police confirm. He was 50.
Mays, who was known for selling products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, was found dead by his wife Deborah Mays at their home in Tampa, Florida.
“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days,” Mrs. Mays said in a statement on Sunday. “Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.”
On Saturday, Billy was on board a U.S. Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport from Philadelphia. Billy tweeted, “Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air.”
During an interview after the incident, Billy said, “All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head.” Authorities haven’t connected the incident to Billy’s death yet.
Billy’s son @YoungBillyMays is currently with the family. He says. “Not quite sure what to say right now. All the support from you guys does help.”

Wow, I just see the previews on that show last night and was thinking about those guys. What the heck is going on? 50 is not that old, it makes you think about your own mortality, especially if you are creeping up on that number. Praying for all the families that have lost loved ones lately.

I bought some oxi something that he promoted once for cleaning. It was crap. I should have known it was too good to be true. However, I did like him. I can’t look at the Shamwow guy without thinking of him getting his lip bitten by a Hooker.

I certainly agree with you all. This is very scary . People say when there is 4, there is always 1 more. That is sad, but always true. I wonder if Billy, sustained an injury from all the items that fell on his head when the plane landed hard on the runway from blownout tires. He did tell his wife he was hit but, ” his head was hard “.
Oddly, just remember what happened to the late Natasha Richardson after HER head injury. She thought she was fine also. The news media said he came right home, and went straight to bed as he was tired from travelling, according to his wife. Just a thought here guys.
