OlderJanet Jackson Honors Michael Jackson at BET Awards
Janet Jackson made a brief appearance onstage during the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (June 28) in Los Angeles.
The 43-year-old sister of Michael Jackson honored her older brother during the ceremony, saying, “My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was just too painful, so they elected me to speak to all of you. I’m going to keep it very short. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family, and myself, thank you for all of your love. Thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”

After Janet left the stage, host Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo sang a tribute duet to Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There.”

I cried A LOT when I saw this & heard the song
I love the Jackson 5 and especially Micheal and Janet . sending out prayers to the entire family . that was obviously hard for her to do , stay strong Janet !!
the pain of loosing a brother or sister is painful.
i lost my sister 6 years ago and she was only 17, i know the pain all his brothers and sisters are going through.

when i heard about Micheal Jackson i could not understand at all my
prayers goes out to his family and for all the people who don,t have anything loving and caring to say about my M.J. i am going to pray for you to cause in times like this i want to remember him as the great person he was Rest in peace Micheal Jackson my heart realli goes out to his mother because he was a lot of things to so many people but he was her son and unless you lost a child some of us won,t

Don’t believe the hype! he and his family has always been close. However, im sure they all have lives. You don’t have to spend every second with your love ones for them to know that u love them and vise versa. How cold was your statement. We will never know what that family is going through. Just because they are in Hollywood doesnt mean a thing. Remember they are still the working class BLACK family from Indiana!

I know everyone is different when they are greiving may god be with you all at this time It is never easy to loose a loved one it tuggs at your heart strings hopefuly you all can look back on the good times you all had as a family and remember Michael’s smile and his laugh as only you all remember his laugh because after all you are family and know him best I am sure Michael misses all of you too. @Cierra: I totally agree with you Cierra, this is about the loss of a life not a Joe and Katherine bashing. Everyone grieve differently and this family needs love and support not personal comments. Did you people even get your facts straight…. Janet and Latoya went with the moving trucks to retrieve Michael and his children belongings which is the right thing to do since this is a RENTED house. Never know what CRAZY would come in and steal his property. Even if Katerine did go their to the home, that is her right as his MOTHER. You people are worst than the MEDIA
We can’t stop others from their opinion. But we can respectfully express ours. Michael’s music was not only entertaining but let us remember his music: caring for others around the world and also the song about seeing our own image in the mirror. He had a big heart. Also, let’s remember that he was found not guilty of the molesting charges. I hope he was innocent. What is true, is that Michael is facing a loving God who will judge us all with love and justice.
