President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama attend the United We Serve volunteer event at the Fort McNair fitness center on Thursday (June 25) in Washington, D.C.
Michelle, 45, spoke at the event that loaded 15,000 backpacks with books, healthy snacks and toys for children of the men and women of the armed forces.
“Economic recovery is as much about what you’re doing in your communities as what we’re doing here in Washington - and it’s going to take all of us, working together,” the First Lady says in a video message on Serve.gov. “So, wherever your interests lie - whether it’s working with young people or caring for the sick and elderly in our hospitals, or helping to make the homes in your neighborhood more energy efficient - or any other issue, the most important thing is for you to get involved.”
Other pictures include the Obama family during the luau for members of Congress and their families on June 25 at the White House in Washington, D.C.

Great pix, Jared. Thanks so much for posting them. They’re so cute. I just have to wonder though where’s Bo’s lei? I mean, the whole family has one on for the luau event — even friend Joe Biden. But Bo is exempt from wearing one for this appropriate ocassion? I don’t get it. I think the cutest pic of him is when he was first introduced to us with a photo of him wearing his multicolored lei. It really brought out his coat. Oh well. Maybe at the next luau. :-)

I love the First Family and I love the First Lady, but I am not gonna say I am crazy about the way she dresses. There’s times when she looks really spectacular and other times when she is not. Right now, I don’t like those green jeans and the yellow sweater with the black top. I think when she is casual she is too casual. She used to work as a lawyer so I know she knows how to dress. Since she is the First Lady, she should be wearing business casual. I have no problem with her wearing jeans even. Just not those green ones.
Michelle complements Obama well. She blends in well with the crowd.
The First Family is on the side of the people, this impression will be important for Obama’s reelection as he crafts his policies in the coming years, from financial regulation, green energy, to taxes.
Of all the US First Ladies she is the ugliest.

Good looking faimily, but since when is a first lady part of celeb news? Media just loves to play this family up– it’s getting nausiating. They’re getting as much face time as another family, the Gosselins.

i enjoy looking at the first family. i admire the first family wish it could be made possible for me to visit the white house and spend a night with the first family. i have thought about michelle visiting the church i attend which look some what like the churches back in the slavery days. i haven’t erase it out of my mind to look into having the first lady come to our little church as a quest speaker at womens day program.
