even though i like some of hilary’s music and have nothing against her, the first thing i thought reading this was ‘noooooooooooo’.

there’s something a bit too mainstream about h-duff which i feel would detract from the elite quality of the show.

Ugh. I love Hilary Duff, but seriously they should’ve picked somebody that isn’t well known yet. They’re good with the cast they have, in the beginning most of their cast wasn’t known, (except for maybe Blake, since she was in the Sisterhood movies) but they need to give somebody else a chance at stardom. Just like when New Moon came out and big names were attached, I got upset. The first Twilight was good because it gave the cast a shot at fame, they need to learn to pick nobodys, so they create somebodys. Give other people a shot at fame, don’t keep reusing. It’s a lot cheaper to pick new people anyway, because the more famous the person is they pick, the more dough is gunna be brought out because they’re a big name. If you ask me Gossip Girl was fine, should’ve left the cast, and brought in new unknown people.

Well, the ratings have declined in season two. Season three (college years) are going to dip even lower, and it will be canceled.

[start of rant] If they wanted decent ratings, they never should have f*cked up last season. They lost at least a MILLION viewers last season because of the idiocy in the writing department, and because Josh and Stephanie chose to give us Nair instead of Chair, and Dan and some sl*t and Nate “the manwh*re” instead of Derena or Serenate. And by Derena and Serenate I don’t necessarily mean them together as couples. Even some friendly interaction would have been nice. It was only in the finale that we finally felt the Non-Judging Breakfast Club’s energy return. The producers should have been banking on that energy throughout the season. Don’t even get me started on the full-fledged disaster that was 2×20.

I thought GG jumped the shark last season, but I at least was mildly relieved with the last couple of episodes. It was slowly starting to recover. But WOW. Hilary Duff? Who’s the casting director? I want him or her FIRED. Enough is enough. Now they’re just trying too hard. Reeling people in with bigger names? It doesn’t work. They tried that in season seven of the WB’s Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and it still wasn’t enough to save the show from crumbling. It was canceled.

Wow, this makes me hate the new season already. If they want the ratings to go up again, come up with some captivating storylines that people will gravitate towards, not move away from. HEAVILY advertise the Chuck & Blair relationship because, let’s face it, Chuck and Blair are the reason most people watch, and perhaps allow for some more interaction among the leads. But don’t keep hiring guests who cannot act. The GG cast is already full and needs no more additions. Focus on what you have and improve upon it. This idiocy frustrates me to no end. Can’t they hire some new blood to write for this show? I don’t want to see it end. TV without Chuck and Blair would be a dismal place. GG just needs a remedy. Anyway, that’s my two cents. ED AND LEIGHTON, you carry this show on your shoulders. [end of rant]

iam from indonesia, and i always watch GG every week from you tube. Blair and chuck is the first reason why i watched this movie. I am sure They have a big reason to put Hillary duff on GG. But i hope she can act well, so no matter what will happened on the next season, wish its no the end of season.

Yay Hilary is back on tv! Can’t wait her awesome come back. Hopes she does well playing Olivia Burke and may her character be great like what they did with Georgina Sparks.

The show needs better writing as it is. Not a Hilary fan at all. Bad enough she has the gall to play the Bonnie from the Bonnie and Clyde movie but I can’t see how her “self conscious look at me I’m so pretty” acting style will fit in with the show.

The new season is going to be terrible.

Of course this is all because the rating for GG were never that great. Even the buzz is dying down.

wow i have mixxed feelings bout this. first of all, dont get me wrong, i love the girl, but on gossip girl ? i don’t really know what to expect, olivia in the books is known as a bitchy girl, and really, im use to seeing hil playing the good, nice, girl. this should be intresting… a lot of the girls on GG are badass and slutss and bitchyy … but hil ? we will have to see
